¹Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

¹Tako pravi GOSPOD: Nebo je prestol moj in zemlja nogam mojim podnožje. Kakšna bi neki bila hiša, ki bi jo mi zidali? in kje li počivanju mojemu mesto?

²For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

²Saj vse to je naredila roka moja in po njej je vse to postalo, govori GOSPOD. Ali na tega se ozrem: na ubožca in potrtega v duhu in na njega, ki trepeče pred besedo mojo.

³He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

³Kdor kolje vola, je, kakor kdor ubija moža, kdor daruje drobnico, kakor kdor seče glavo psu, kdor prinaša pitni dar, kakor bi daroval kri svinjsko, kdor žge kadilo v spomin, kakor kdor hvali malika: res, oni so izvolili pota svoja in gnusob svojih se veseli njih duša.

⁴I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

⁴Tudi jaz izvolim, kar jih boli, in pripeljem nadnje, česar jih je strah; zato ker mi, ko sem klical, ni nihče odgovoril, ko sem govoril, niso poslušali, temuč so delali, kar je hudo v očeh mojih, in so izvolili tisto, kar mi ni po volji.

⁵Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

⁵Čujte besedo GOSPODOVO, ki trepetate pred besedo njegovo! Bratje vaši, ki vas sovražijo in vas pehajo od sebe zaradi imena mojega, govore: Naj se GOSPOD izkaže častit, da vidimo radost vašo! Toda osramočeni bodo.

⁶A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

⁶Čujte, hrupa glas iz mesta! glas iz svetišča! glas GOSPODOV, ki povrača sovražnikom svojim, kar so zaslužili!

⁷Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

⁷Ko je niso še obšle porodne težave, je rodila; ko je ni še napadla bolečina, je povila moško dete.

⁸Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

⁸Kdo je slišal kaj takega, kdo je videl kaj enakega? More li dežela biti rojena v enem dnevi? se li porodi narod mahoma? Komaj so Sion obšle težave, in že je rodil sinove svoje.

⁹Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

⁹Ali bi jaz odprl maternico, a ne dal poroditi? pravi GOSPOD; ali bi jaz, ki dajem roditi, zopet zadržal? veli Bog tvoj.

¹⁰Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

¹⁰Veselite se z Jeruzalemom in radujte se nad njim vsi, ki ga ljubite, udeležujte se veselja ž njim, ki ste žalovali nad njim!

¹¹That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

¹¹da sesate in se nasitite na prsih tolažb njegovih, da se nasrkate in se vam dobro godi od obilnosti slave njegove.

¹²For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

¹²Kajti tako pravi GOSPOD: Glej, jaz napeljem proti njemu kakor reko mir in kakor poplavljajoč potok slavo narodov, in boste sesali; v naročjih vas bodo nosili in na kolenih ljubkali.

¹³As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

¹³Kakor če koga tolaži mati njegova, tako hočem jaz tolažiti vas; in v Jeruzalemu boste obliti s tolažbo.

¹⁴And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

¹⁴In boste videli, in veselilo se bo srce vaše, in kosti vaše se razcveto kako nežna trava. In očitna bo roka GOSPODOVA pri hlapcih njegovih in nevolja proti sovražnikom njegovim.

¹⁵For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

¹⁵Zakaj, glej, GOSPOD pride z ognjem in vozovi njegovi bodo podobni vrtincu, da povračuje jezo svojo s togoto in karanje svoje z gorečimi plameni.

¹⁶For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

¹⁶Kajti GOSPOD bo sodbo vršil z ognjem in z mečem svojim proti vsemu mesu, in mnogo jih bode, ki jih prebode GOSPOD.

¹⁷They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

¹⁷Kateri se posvečujejo in se očiščajo za malikovanje na vrtih, za enim [Pomeni: za enim drevesom (ali: za Ašero.] v sredi, kateri jedo meso svinjsko, gnusobo in miši, skup se pokončajo, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁸For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

¹⁸Jaz pa vem njih dela, njih misli. Pride čas, da zberem vse narode in jezike; in pridejo in bodo gledali slavo mojo.

¹⁹And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

¹⁹In postavim znamenje med njimi, in izmed njih ubežnikov pošljem k narodom v Tarsis, Pul in Lud, ki streljajo z lokom, v Tubal in Javan, na daljne otoke, ki niso slišali vesti o meni in niso videli slave moje; in oznanjali bodo slavo mojo med narodi.

²⁰And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.

²⁰In pripeljejo vse brate vaše izmed vseh narodov v dar GOSPODU na konjih, na vozeh in nosilih, na mezgih in dromedarjih na goro svetosti moje, v Jeruzalem, pravi GOSPOD, kakor sinovi Izraelovi prinašajo pitno daritev v snažni posodi v hišo GOSPODOVO.

²¹And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.

²¹In tudi izmed njih jih vzamem za duhovnike in levite, pravi GOSPOD.

²²For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

²²Zakaj kakor bodo ona nova nebesa in zemlja nova, ki jih hočem narediti, stala pred menoj, tako bo stalo seme vaše in ime vaše.

²³And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

²³In zgodi se, da bo od mlaja do mlaja in od sobote prihajalo vse meso molit pred mene, pravi GOSPOD.In pojdejo ven in videli bodo mrtva trupla tistih ljudi, ki so odpadli od mene; zakaj njih črv ne umre in njih ogenj ne ugasne, in gnusoba bodo vsemu mesu.

²⁴And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

²⁴In pojdejo ven in videli bodo mrtva trupla tistih ljudi, ki so odpadli od mene; zakaj njih črv ne umre in njih ogenj ne ugasne, in gnusoba bodo vsemu mesu.
