¹And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

¹In začne jim govoriti v prilikah: Zasadil je človek vinograd in ga ogradil s plotom, in je izkopal klet in je sezidal stolp, in ga je izročil vinogradnikom, ter je odpotoval.

²And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

²In ko je bilo čas, pošlje k vinogradnikom hlapca, da bi od vinogradnikov prejel pridelkov iz vinograda.

³And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

³Oni pa ga zgrabijo in pretepo in pošljejo praznega.

⁴And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

⁴In zopet pošlje k njim drugega hlapca; in temu razbijejo glavo in ga osramoté.

⁵And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

⁵In pošlje drugega, in tega ubijejo, in mnogo drugih, ki jih nekatere pretepo in nekatere ubijejo.

⁶Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

⁶Še enega je imel, sina ljubljenega: tega pošlje naposled k njim, rekoč: Sina mojega se bodo bali.

⁷But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be our's.

⁷Oni pa, vinogradniki, reko med seboj: Ta je dedič. Pridite, ubijmo ga, in naša bo dediščina.

⁸And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

⁸Ter ga zgrabijo in ubijejo, in ga vržejo ven iz vinograda.

⁹What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

⁹Kaj bo torej storil gospodar vinograda? Pride in vinogradnike pogubi, in vinograd dá drugim.

¹⁰And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

¹⁰Niste li brali tudi tega pisma: „Kamen, ki so ga zidarji zavrgli, ta je postal glava voglu;

¹¹This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

¹¹od Gospoda se je zgodilo to, in čudno je v očeh naših“.

¹²And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

¹²In gledali so, da bi ga ujeli, ali zbojé se ljudstva. Spoznali so namreč, da je zoper nje povedal to priliko. In pustili so ga ter odšli.

¹³And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

¹³In pošljejo k njemu nekatere farizejev in Herodovcev, da bi ga ujeli v besedi.

¹⁴And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

¹⁴In ko pridejo, mu reko: Učenik, vemo, da si resničen, in ti ni nikogar mar, kajti ne gledaš ljudem na lice, temuč v resnici učiš pot Božjo. Ali je prav dati cesarju davek ali ne? Naj ga damo ali ne damo?

¹⁵Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

¹⁵On pa, ker je spoznal njih hinavstvo, jim reče: Kaj me izkušate? Prinesite mi denar, da pogledam.

¹⁶And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.

¹⁶Oni pa prineso. In jim reče: Čigava je ta podoba in napis? Oni mu pa reko: Cesarjeva.

¹⁷And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

¹⁷Jezus pa jim veli: Dajte cesarju, kar je cesarjevega, in Bogu, kar je Božjega. In silno se mu začudijo.

¹⁸Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

¹⁸In pridejo k njemu saduceji, ki pravijo, da ni vstajenja, in ga vprašajo, govoreč:

¹⁹Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

¹⁹Učenik! Mojzes nam je napisal: Če komu brat umre in zapusti ženo, otrok pa ne zapusti, naj vzame njegov brat ženo njegovo in zbudi seme bratu svojemu.

²⁰Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

²⁰Bilo je sedem bratov; in prvi vzame ženo in umre, in ne zapusti zaroda.

²¹And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

²¹In vzame jo drugi in umre, ne zapustivši zaroda. Tudi tretji tako.

²²And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

²²In vseh sedem ne zapusti zaroda. Naposled za vsemi umre tudi žena.

²³In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

²³Ob vstajenju torej, ko vstanejo, čigava izmed jih bo žena? Kajti sedmeri so jo imeli za ženo.

²⁴And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

²⁴Jezus jim reče: Se li ne motite zato, ker ne poznate pisem, ne moči Božje?

²⁵For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

²⁵Kadar namreč iz mrtvih vstanejo, se ne ženijo in ne možé, ampak so kakor angeli v nebesih.

²⁶And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

²⁶Za mrtve pa, da vstajajo, niste li brali v Mojzesovi knjigi, pri grmu, kako mu je Bog govoril, rekoč: „Jaz sem Bog Abrahamov in Bog Izakov in Bog Jakobov“?

²⁷He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

²⁷On ni Bog mrtvih, ampak živih. Zelo se motite.

²⁸And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

²⁸In pristopi eden pismarjev, ki je slišal, kako so se prepirali, in ker je videl, da jim je dobro odgovoril, ga vpraša: Katera je prva zapoved od vseh?

²⁹And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

²⁹Jezus odgovori: Prva je: „Sliši, Izrael! Gospod, naš Bog, je edini Gospod.

³⁰And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

³⁰In ljubi Gospoda, Boga svojega, iz vsega srca svojega in iz vse duše svoje in iz vse pameti svoje in iz vse moči svoje.“

³¹And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

³¹Druga je ta: „Ljubi bližnjega svojega kakor samega sebe“. Večje od teh ni druge zapovedi.

³²And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

³²In reče mu pismar: Dobro, učenik; po resnici si povedal, da je Bog eden, in da ni drugega razen njega;

³³And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

³³in ljubiti ga iz vsega srca in iz vse pameti in iz vse moči, in bližnjega ljubiti kakor samega sebe: to je več od vseh žgalnih žrtev in daritev.

³⁴And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

³⁴In Jezus, videč, da je pametno odgovoril, mu reče: Nisi daleč od kraljestva Božjega. In nihče si ga ni upal več vprašati.

³⁵And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?

³⁵In Jezus odgovori in reče, učeč v templju: Kako pravijo pismarji, da je Kristus sin Davidov?

³⁶For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

³⁶Sam David je dejal v svetem Duhu: „Rekel je Gospod Gospodu mojemu: Sedi na desnico mojo, dokler ne položim sovražnikov tvojih nogam tvojim za podnožje“.

³⁷David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

³⁷Sam David ga imenuje Gospoda; odkod pa je on sin njegov? In preprosto ljudstvo ga je rado poslušalo.

³⁸And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

³⁸In govoril jim je v nauku svojem: Varujte se pismarjev, ki radi hodijo v dolgih suknjah in ljubijo pozdrave po ulicah

³⁹And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

³⁹in prve stole po shodnicah in prva mesta pri gostijah;

⁴⁰Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

⁴⁰ki požirajo vdovam hiše in na videz opravljajo dolge molitve. Ti bodo prejeli ostrejšo sodbo.

⁴¹And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

⁴¹In sede Jezus temepljskemu zakladu nasproti in gleda, kako meče ljudstvo denar v zakladnico; in veliko bogatih je metalo mnogo.

⁴²And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

⁴²In pride vdova uboga in vrže dva denarca, kar je en vinar.

⁴³And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

⁴³In pokliče učence svoje in jim reče: Resnično vam pravim, da je ta vdova uboga vrgla več nego vsi, ki mečejo v zakladnico:kajti vsi so vrgli od obilnosti svoje, ta pa je od uboštva svojega vrgla vse, kar je imela, ves živež svoj.

⁴⁴For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
