¹And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

²And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

²In precej, ko stopi iz ladje, ga sreča človek iz grobov, ki je imel nečistega duha

³Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

³in mu je bilo prebivališče po grobih; in tudi z verigo ga ni mogel nihče več zvezati;

⁴Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

⁴bil je namreč velikokrat zvezan z oklepi in verigami, pa je verige potrgal in oklepe razdrobil, in nihče ga ni mogel ukrotiti;

⁵And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

⁵in vedno, po noči in po dnevi, je bival po gorah in po grobih ter kričal in se bil s kamenjem.

⁶But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

⁶Ko pa ugleda Jezusa oddaleč, priteče ter se mu prikloni

⁷And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

⁷in na ves glas kričeč, reče: Kaj imam s teboj, Jezus, Sin Boga Najvišjega? Zaklinjam te pri Bogu, ne muči me!

⁸For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

⁸Pravil mu je namreč: Izidi, nečisti duh, iz tega človeka!

⁹And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

⁹In ga vpraša: Kako ti je ime? In mu reče: Legijon mi je ime, ker nas je mnogo.

¹⁰And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹⁰In prosi ga zelo, naj jih ne izžene iz tega kraja.

¹¹Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

¹¹Bila je pa tam pri gori velika čreda svinj, ki so se pasle.

¹²And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹²In zaprosijo ga, rekoč: Pošlji nas v te svinje, da gremo vanje.

¹³And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

¹³In Jezus jim dovoli. In nečisti duhovi izidejo in gredo v svinje, in zakadi se čreda, kakih dvatisoč, z brega v morje, ter potonejo v morju.

¹⁴And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

¹⁴In njih pastirji pobegnejo in oznanijo to v mestu in po deželi. In prebivalci gredo pogledat, kaj bi bilo to, kar se je zgodilo.

¹⁵And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

¹⁵In pridejo k Jezusu in ugledajo obsedenca, da sedi in je oblečen in pameten, tistega, ki je imel legijon; in preplašijo se.

¹⁶And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

¹⁶In tisti, ki so videli, jim pripovedujejo, kako se je zgodilo obsedencu, in o svinjah.

¹⁷And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

¹⁷In začno ga prositi, naj odide iz njih krajev.

¹⁸And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

¹⁸In ko stopi v ladjo, ga zaprosi oni, ki je bil obseden, da sme ostati ž njim.

¹⁹Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

¹⁹Jezus pa mu ne dopusti, ampak mu reče: Pojdi na svoj dom k svojcem in oznani jim, koliko ti je storil Gospod in kako se te je usmilil.

²⁰And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

²⁰In odide in začne oznanjevati po Deseteromestju, koliko mu je storil Jezus; in vsi so se čudili.

²¹And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

²¹In ko se prepelje Jezus v ladji zopet na drugo stran, se zbere pri njem velika množica; in bil je pri morju.

²²And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

²²In glej, eden načelnikov shodnice, po imenu Jair, pride, in ko ga ugleda, mu pade pred noge

²³And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

²³in ga zelo prosi, rekoč: Hčerka mi umira, pridi, položi nanjo roke, da ozdravi in živi.

²⁴And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

²⁴In odide ž njim; in velika množica ga spremlja in ga stiskajo.

²⁵And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁵In žena, ki je imela krvotok dvanajst let

²⁶And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

²⁶in je veliko pretrpela od mnogih zdravnikov in potrošila vse svoje, pa ji ni nič pomagalo, ampak še huje je bilo:

²⁷When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

²⁷pride, ko je slišala o Jezusu, med množico odzadaj in se dotakne obleke njegove.

²⁸For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

²⁸Reče si namreč: Če se dotaknem le obleke njegove, ozdravim.

²⁹And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

²⁹In precej usahne vir krvi njene, in čuti v telesu, da je ozdravela od svoje nadloge.

³⁰And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

³⁰In Jezus precej spozna pri sebi, da je šla moč iz njega, in obrnivši se med množico, reče: Kdo se je dotaknil moje obleke?

³¹And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

³¹In reko mu učenci njegovi: Saj vidiš ljudstvo, da te stiska, pa praviš: Kdo se me je dotaknil?

³²And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

³²In ozira se okoli, da bi ugledal tisto, ki je to storila.

³³But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

³³Žena pa, vedoč, kaj se ji je zgodilo, uplašena in trepetaje pristopi in pade pred njim in mu pove vso resnico.

³⁴And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

³⁴On ji pa reče: Hči, vera tvoja te je rešila; pojdi v miru in bodi zdrava od nadloge svoje.

³⁵While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

³⁵Ko še govori, pridejo od načelnika shodnice, rekoč: Hči tvoja je umrla, čemu še nadleguješ učenika?

³⁶As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

³⁶Jezus pa zasliši to besedo, ko so jo povedali, in reče načelniku shodnice: Ne boj se, le veruj!

³⁷And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

³⁷In ne pusti, da bi ga kdo spremljal, razen Peter in Jakob in Janez, Jakobov brat.

³⁸And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

³⁸In pridejo v hišo načelnikovo, in vidi hrupno zmešnjavo ter da silno jokajo in žalujejo.

³⁹And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

³⁹In ko vnide, jim reče: Kaj hrumite in jokate? Deklica ni umrla, marveč spi!

⁴⁰And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

⁴⁰A oni se mu posmehujejo. On pa izžene vse in vzame s seboj otrokovega očeta in mater in svoje spremljevalce ter gre noter, kjer je deklica ležala.

⁴¹And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

⁴¹In prijemši deklico za roko, ji veli: Talita kumi, to se pravi: Deklica, pravim ti, vstani!

⁴²And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

⁴²In precej vstane deklica in hodi; imela je namreč dvanajst let. In precej se začudijo na vso moč.In zapove jim strogo, da nihče ne zve tega, in naroči, naj ji dado jesti.

⁴³And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
