¹And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:

¹In poglavarji očetovinam iz rodovine sinov Gileada, sinu Mahirja, sinu Manasejevega, od rodovin Jožefovih sinov, pristopijo ter govore pred Mojzesom in pred knezi, poglavarji očetovinam Izraelovih sinov,

²And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.

²in reko: GOSPOD je ukazal tebi, gospodu mojemu, da naj se dežela da po žrebu sinovom Izraelovim v dediščino; tudi je gospodu mojemu ukazal GOSPOD, naj se dediščina našega brata Zelofada dodeli njegovim hčeram.

³And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

³Toda če se omože s katerimi sinovi iz drugih rodov Izraelovih otrok, se vzame njih dedni delež od dediščine naših očetov in se prideli dediščini tistega rodu, kateremu bodo pripadale; tako pa se odtrga od deleža naše dediščine.

⁴And when the jubilee of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

⁴In ko pride milostno leto Izraelovih sinov, tedaj se njih dediščina pridruži dediščini rodú, ki bodo v njem živele one hčere; od dediščine rodú naših očetov pa se odtrga.

⁵And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.

⁵Tedaj zapove Mojzes sinovom Izraelovim po ukazu GOSPODOVEM, veleč: Prav je govoril rod Jožefovih sinov.

⁶This is the thing which the LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.

⁶To je stvar, ki jo je GOSPOD zapovedal glede Zelofadovih hčera, rekoč: Omože naj se, s komer jim je všeč, toda le v rodovini očeta svojega rodu naj se omože:

⁷So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

⁷da se ne prenese nič dediščine Izraelovih sinov od roda na drug rod; zakaj sleherni sinov Izraelovih se mora držati dediščine, lastne rodu njegovih očetov.

⁸And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.

⁸Vsaka hči, ki ima dediščino v katerem rodu sinov Izraelovih, naj se omoži le z nekom iz rodovine očeta svojega rodu, da sleherni sinov Izraelovih obdrži dediščino svojih očetov

⁹Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.

⁹in da se ne prenaša dediščina od roda na drug rod, temuč se vsakdo med rodovi Izraelovih sinov drži svoje dediščine.

¹⁰Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

¹⁰Kakor je GOSPOD zapovedal Mojzesu, prav tako so storile Zelofadove hčere:

¹¹For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons:

¹¹kajti Mahla, Tirza, Hogla, Milka in Noa, Zelofadove hčere, so se omožile s sinovi stricev svojih.

¹²And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

¹²Prišle so za žene v rodovine sinov Manaseja, sinu Jožefovega, in njih dediščina je ostala pri rodu, pri rodovini njih očeta.To so zapovedi in sodbe, ki jih je ukazal GOSPOD po Mojzesu sinovom Izraelovim na poljanah Moabskih pri Jordanu, nasproti Jerihu.

¹³These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

¹³To so zapovedi in sodbe, ki jih je ukazal GOSPOD po Mojzesu sinovom Izraelovim na poljanah Moabskih pri Jordanu, nasproti Jerihu.
