¹There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

¹Zatorej ni sedaj nobene obsodbe za te, ki so v Kristusu Jezusu.

²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

²Zakaj postava Duha življenja v Kristusu Jezusu me je osvobodila postave greha in smrti.

³For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

³Kar je namreč bilo postavi nemogoče, v čemer je bila nezmožna zaradi mesa, to je storil Bog, ko je poslal svojega Sina v podobnosti grešnega mesa in kot daritev za greh, in je greh obsodil v mesu,

⁴That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

⁴da se izpolni pravična zahteva postave v nas, ki živimo ne po mesu, ampak po duhu.

⁵For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

⁵Kajti kateri so po mesu, mislijo na to, kar je mesenega, a kateri so po duhu, na to, kar je duhovnega.

⁶For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

⁶Kajti meseno mišljenje je smrt, a duhovno mišljenje je življenje in mir;

⁷Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

⁷zato ker je meseno mišljenje sovraštvo do Boga, ker se Božji postavi ne pokorava, saj se tudi ne more.

⁸So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

⁸Kateri so pa v mesu, Bogu ne morejo biti prijetni.

⁹But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

⁹A vi niste v mesu, ampak v duhu, ako Božji Duha prebiva v vas. Če pa kdo Duha Kristusovega nima, ta ni njegov.

¹⁰And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

¹⁰Če je pa Kristus v vas, je sicer telo mrtvo zavoljo greha, duh pa je življenje zavoljo pravičnosti.

¹¹But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

¹¹Če pa Duh tistega, ki je obudil Jezusa iz mrtvih, prebiva v vas, on, ki je obudil Kristusa Jezusa iz mrtvih, oživi tudi smrtna telesa vaša zaradi Duha svojega, ki prebiva v vas.

¹²Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

¹²Tako torej, bratje, nismo dolžniki mesu, da živimo po mesu;

¹³For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

¹³zakaj če po mesu živite, umrjete, če pa z Duhom morite dejanja mesa, boste živeli.

¹⁴For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

¹⁴Kajti katerekoli vodi Duh Božji, ti so sinovi Božji.

¹⁵For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

¹⁵Niste namreč prejeli duha sužnosti zopet v bojazen, ampak prejeli ste Duha sinovstva, ki v njem kličemo: Aba, Oče!

¹⁶The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

¹⁶Ta Duh sam izpričuje z našim duhom vred, da smo otroci Božji.

¹⁷And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

¹⁷Če smo pa otroci, smo tudi dediči, in sicer dediči Božji in sodediči Kristusovi, ako ž njim trpimo, da se tudi ž njim oslavimo.

¹⁸For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

¹⁸Mislim namreč, da trpljenje sedanjega časa ni vredno, da se primerja prihodnji slavi, ki se ima razodeti na nas.

¹⁹For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

¹⁹Kajti koprnenje vseh stvari pričakuje razodetja sinov Božjih.

²⁰For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

²⁰Zakaj stvari so podvržene ničemurnosti, ne iz lastne volje, ampak zavoljo tistega, ki jih je podvrgel, z upanjem,

²¹Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

²¹da bo tudi stvarstvo samo rešeno iz sužnjevanja minljivosti v svobodo slave otrok Božjih.

²²For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

²²Vemo namreč, da vse stvarstvo skupno zdihuje in je v porodnih bolečinah prav do sedaj.

²³And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

²³Pa ne samo ono, temuč i mi sami, ki imamo prvine Duha, tudi mi sami v sebi zdihujemo, čakajoč sinovstva, odrešitve svojega telesa.

²⁴For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

²⁴V upanju namreč smo zveličani; upanje pa, ki se vidi, ni upanje; saj če kdo kaj vidi, čemu bi se tega še nadejal?

²⁵But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

²⁵Če pa upamo, česar ne vidimo, čakamo tega s potrpežljivostjo.

²⁶Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

²⁶Enako pa pomaga tudi Duh našim slabostim. Kajti česa naj prosimo, kakor je treba, ne vemo; temuč Duh sam prosi za nas z neizrečnimi vzdihi.

²⁷And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

²⁷Ta pa, ki preiskuje srca, ve, kaj je misel Duha, ker po volji Božji prosi za svetnike.

²⁸And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

²⁸Vemo pa, da tem, ki Boga ljubijo, vse služi v dobro, tem, ki so poklicani po sklepu Božjem.

²⁹For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

²⁹Kajti katere je naprej spoznal, te je tudi vnaprej odločil, da bodo enaki podobi njegovega Sinu, da bi on prvorojenec bil med mnogimi brati.

³⁰Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

³⁰In katere je naprej odločil, te je tudi poklical, in katere je poklical, te je tudi opravičil, in katere je opravičil, te je tudi oslavil.

³¹What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

³¹Kaj torej porečemo na to? Če je Bog z nami, kdo je proti nam?

³²He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

³²On, ki lastnemu Sinu ni prizanesel, temuč ga je dal za nas vse, kako ne bo tudi ž njim nam vsega podaril?

³³Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

³³Kdo bo tožil proti izvoljencem Božjim? Bog je, ki jih opravičuje.

³⁴Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

³⁴Kdo je, ki jih bo obsodil? Kristus Jezus je, ki je umrl, pa je tudi vstal, ki je na desnici Boga, ki tudi prosi za nas.

³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

³⁵Kdo nas bo ločil od ljubezni Kristusove? stiska ali nadloga, ali preganjanje, ali lakota, ali nagota, ali nevarnost, ali meč?

³⁶As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

³⁶Kakor je pisano: „Zavoljo tebe nas moré ves dan, imajo nas kakor ovce za klanje“.

³⁷Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

³⁷Ali v vsem tem slavno premagujemo po tistem, ki nas je ljubil.

³⁸For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

³⁸Prepričan sem namreč, da nas ne smrt, ne življenje, ne angeli, ne poglavarstva, ne sile, ne sedanjost, ne prihodnost,ne višina, ne globočina, ne katera druga stvar ne bo mogla ločiti od ljubezni Božje, ki je v Kristusu Jezusu, Gospodu našem.

³⁹Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

³⁹ne višina, ne globočina, ne katera druga stvar ne bo mogla ločiti od ljubezni Božje, ki je v Kristusu Jezusu, Gospodu našem.
