¹Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

¹EMPERO el Espíritu dice manifiestamente, que en los venideros tiempos alguno apostatarán de la fe escuchando á espíritus de error y á doctrinas de demonios;

²Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

²Que con hipocresía hablarán mentira, teniendo cauterizada la conciencia.

³Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

³Que prohibirán casarse, y mandarán abstenerse de las viandas que Dios crió para que con hacimiento de gracias participasen de ellas los fieles, y los que han conocido la verdad.

⁴For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

⁴Porque todo lo que Dios crió es bueno, y nada hay que desechar, tomándose con hacimiento de gracias:

⁵For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

⁵Porque por la palabra de Dios y por la oración es santificado.

⁶If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

⁶Si esto propusieres á los hermanos, serás buen ministro de Jesucristo, criado en las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina, la cual has alcanzado.

⁷But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

⁷Mas las fábulas profanas y de viejas desecha, y ejercítate para la piedad.

⁸For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

⁸Porque el ejercicio corporal para poco es provechoso; mas la piedad para todo aprovecha, pues tiene promesa de esta vida presente, y de la venidera.

⁹This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

⁹Palabra fiel es esta, y digna de ser recibida de todos.

¹⁰For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

¹⁰Que por esto aun trabajamos y sufrimos oprobios, porque esperamos en el Dios viviente, el cual es Salvador de todos los hombres, mayormente de los que creen.

¹¹These things command and teach.

¹¹Esto manda y enseña.

¹²Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

¹²Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud; pero sé ejemplo de los fieles en palabra, en conversación, en caridad, en espíritu, en fe, en limpieza.

¹³Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

¹³Entre tanto que voy, ocúpate en leer, en exhortar, en enseñar.

¹⁴Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

¹⁴No descuides el don que está en ti, que te es dado por profecía con la imposición de las manos del presbiterio.

¹⁵Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

¹⁵Medita estas cosas; ocúpate en ellas; para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto á todos.

¹⁶Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

¹⁶Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello; pues haciendo esto, á ti mismo salvarás y á los que te oyeren.
