¹If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

¹ Da boro na yeeji wala feeji zay ka wi, wala mo a n'a neera no, kal a ma bana yeeji gu afa banando se, feeji mo, itaaci no afa banando se.

²If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

² D'i na zay di, a go zaytara gaa, i n'a kar kal a bu, a kuro sinda alhakku.

³If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

³ Amma da wayna fun a gaa, a kuro gonda alhakku. Kal a ma bana. D'a sinda hay kulu mo, kal i m'a neera a zaytara se.

⁴If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

⁴ D'i na haya kaŋ a zay din gar a kambe ra da fundi, da yeeji no, wala farkay, wala feeji, kal a m'a bana sorro hinka.

⁵If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

⁵ Da boro fo na fari wala reyzin* kali zamba, a na nga alman taŋ hal a kuru boro fo fari ra, kal a ma bana nga faro wala nga reyzin kalo albarka ra haŋ kaŋ ga boori ka bisa i kulu.

⁶If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

⁶ Da danji koma ka di karjiyaŋ ra, hal a to sinjiri gaa, wala jeeni kaŋ go nya gaa, wala a na fari ŋwa mo, bora kaŋ na danjo daŋ din, daahir a g'a bana.

⁷If a man shall deliver unto his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

⁷ Da boro fo na nooru wala jinay kaŋ a ga gaay talfi nga gorokasino gaa, a binde i n'a zay bora din fuwo ra, d'i na zayo di, a m'a bana sorro hinka.

⁸If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbor's goods.

⁸ Amma d'i mana zayo di, i ma kande fu koyo alkaaley jine, i ma guna ka di hal a mana nga kamba daŋ nga gorokasino jinayo gaa.

⁹For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbor.

⁹ Amaana ŋwaari kulu dumi se, da yeeji no, wala farkay, wala feeji wala bankaaray no, wala hay fo kulu kaŋ daray, kaŋ boro fo ga ne nga wane no, i ga kande i boro hinka kulu sanno alkaaley jine. Bora kaŋ boŋ alkaaley ga taalo dake din ga bana nga gorokasino se sorro hinka.

¹⁰If a man deliver unto his neighbor an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

¹⁰ Da boro fo talfi nga gorokasino gaa farkay wala yeeji wala feeji wala alman kulu kaŋ dumi no, a m'a gaay se, nga no, a bu, wala a maray, wala i n'a gaaray, boro kulu mana di a mo --

¹¹Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

¹²And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

¹³If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

¹³ Amma da hay fo no k'a tooru-tooru, a ma kande toorimo seeda se. A si haya kaŋ i tooru din bana.

¹⁴And if a man borrow ought of his neighbor, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

¹⁴ Da boro na alman hi nga gorokasin gaa, d'a maray, wala mo a bu, koyo si a banda, daahir bora ga bana koyo se.

¹⁵But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

¹⁵ Amma da koyo go almano banda, a s'a bana. Da sufuray hari mo no, a ga kay nga sufuray nooro me.

¹⁶And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

¹⁶ Da boro fo na wandiyo kaŋ i mana di boro fo se hiila ka kani nd'a, daahir no a g'a hiijay nooro bana, wandiya ma ciya a wande mo.

¹⁷If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

¹⁷ Da wandiya baabo wangu k'a hiijandi a se mo, kulu nda yaadin a ga hiijay nooro bana sanda mate kaŋ cine i ga bana wandiyo se.

¹⁸Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

¹⁸ Ni ma si naŋ wayboro ziima ma funa.

¹⁹Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

¹⁹ Boro kulu kaŋ ga kani nda alman mo, daahir i g'a koy wi.

²⁰He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

²⁰ Boro kaŋ ga sargay salle de-koy fo se, kaŋ manti Rabbi hinne no, i m'a koy halaci soosay.

²¹Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

²¹ Ni ma si yaw taabandi, ni ma s'a kankam mo, zama araŋ mo na yawtaray te Misira laabo ra.

²²Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

²² Ni ma si wayboro kaŋ kurnye bu, wala alatuumi taabandi.

²³If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

²³ Da ni n'i kankam baa kayna hal i hẽ ay gaa mo, mate kulu kaŋ no, haciika ay ga maa i hẽeno.

²⁴And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

²⁴ Ay futa mo ga tun sanda danji, ay g'araŋ wi da takuba. Araŋ wandey mo ga ciya kurnye si, araŋ izey mo ga ciya alatuumiyaŋ.

²⁵If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

²⁵ Da ni na nooru garaw daŋ ay borey ra talka kaŋ go ni banda gaa, ni ma si ciya a se danga garaw-gar-hãako, ni ma si nooru nda riiba daŋ a gaa mo.

²⁶If thou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

²⁶ Da ni na taafe ta ni gorokasin gaa tolme, sikka si kala ni m'a yeti a se hala wayna ga kaŋ,

²⁷For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

²⁷ zama woodin hinne no ga ti a daabuyaŋ haro. A gaa-kuuro bankaara nooya, ifo ra no a ga jirbi? A ga ciya mo, saaya kaŋ a hẽ ay gaa, ay ga maa, zama ay ya gomnikoy no.

²⁸Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

²⁸ Ni ma si Irikoy wow. Ni ma si ni jama jine bora laali.

²⁹Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

²⁹ Ni ma si naŋ ni fari albarka nooyaŋ ma gay wiyaŋo zaaro ra, da ni reyzin* izey hari jina. Ni ize alboro hay-jine kulu mo, ni g'ay no nd'a.

³⁰Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

³⁰ Yaadin mo no ni ga te da ni hawey da ni feejey. Jirbi iyye no a ga goro nga nyaŋo banda, jirbi ahakkanta hane mo ni m'a no ay se.

³¹And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

³¹ Araŋ ga goro boro hananteyaŋ ay se. Woodin se no araŋ ma si ham kulu kaŋ ganji ham tooru-tooru ŋwa, araŋ g'a furu no hansey se.
