²Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

²HERRE, vår Herre, huru härligt är icke ditt namn över hela jorden, du som har satt ditt majestät på himmelen!

³When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

³Av barns och spenabarns mun har du upprättat en makt, för dina ovänners skull, till att nedslå fienden och den hämndgirige.

⁴What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

⁴När jag ser din himmel, dina fingrars verk, månen och stjärnorna, som du har berett,

⁵For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

⁵vad är då en människa, att du tänker på henne, eller en människoson, att du låter dig vårda om honom.

⁶Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

⁶Dock gjorde du honom nästan till ett gudaväsen; med ära och härlighet krönte du honom.

⁷All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

⁷Du satte honom till herre över dina händers verk; allt lade du under hans fötter:

⁸The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
