¹Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

¹ПАВЛӮС, бандаи Худо ва ҳаввории Исои Масеҳ, ба ҳасби имони баргузидагони Худо ва дониши ростие ки дар диндорист,

²In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

²Ба умеди ҳаёти ҷовидонӣ, ки Худо, ки наметавонад дурӯғ бигӯяд, онро аз азал ваъда кардааст,

³But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

³Ва дар замони муайян каломи Худро дар паёме зоҳир намудааст, ки он бо амри Наҷотдиҳағдаи мо Худо ба ман супурда шудааст, -

⁴To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

⁴Ба Титус, фарзанди ҳақикиам, ки ҳар дуи мо дар як имон муштаракем, файз, марҳамат ва осоиштагӣ аз ҷониби Худои Падар ва Наҷотдиҳандаи мо Исои Масеҳи Худованд бод.

⁵For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

⁵Барои он туро дар Крит мондаам, ки корҳои нотамомро ба анҷом расонй ва дар ҳамаи шаҳрҳо пиронро таъин намоӣ, чунон ки ба ту амр фармудаам:

⁶If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

⁶Агар касе беайб ва соҳиби як зан буда, фарзандони имондоре дошта бошад, ки дар фиску фуҷур ё беитоатӣ мазаммат нашудаанд.

⁷For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

⁷Зеро ки ускуф бояд, чун муваккали Худо, беайб бощад, на худгшсанд, на ҳашмгин, на бадмаст, на муштзӯр, на тамаъкор,

⁸But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

⁸Балки меҳмоннавоз, хайрхоҳ, боксмат, боинсоф, парҳезгор, худдор.

⁹Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

⁹Ӯ бояд ба каломи ҳақиқи, ки мувофиқи таълимот аст, қоим бошад, то ки баъзеро бо таълимоти солим насиҳат диҳад ва мухолифонро танбеҳ кунад.

¹⁰For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

¹⁰Зеро ки бисьёр касони беитоат, ёвагӯй ва фиребгар ҳастанд, алалхусус аз байни махтунон.

¹¹Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

¹¹Даҳонашон бояд баста шавад: олҳо хонаҳои томро фосид карда, аз рӯи тамаи нангин, чизҳое таълим медиҳанд, ки шоиста нест.

¹²One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

¹²Шоире аз байни хуцашон чун набие чунин гуфтааст: "Критиён ҳамеша дурӯғгӯ ҳастанд, ва даррандагони бадкин, ва шикампарастони танбал".

¹³This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

¹³Ин шаҳодат дуруст аст. Ба ин сабаб онҳоро ба таври ҷиддӣ мазаммат намо, то ки дар имон солим бошанд,

¹⁴Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

¹⁴Ва ба қиссаҳои яҳудиён ва ба аҳкоми одамоне ки аз ростй рӯй мегардонанд, гӯш наандозанд.

¹⁵Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

¹⁵Барои покон ҳама чиз пок аст; вале барои палидон ва беимонон ҳеҷ чиз пок нест, балки ҳам хиради онҳо ва ҳам виҷдонашон палид гардидааст.

¹⁶They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

¹⁶Онҳо мегӯянд, ки Худоро мешиносанд, лекин бо аъмолашон Ӯро инкор менамоянд, дар ҳолате ки зишткор ва беитоат буда, ба ҳеҷ амали нек қобил нестанд.
