1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1ลูกเล็กๆของข้าพเจ้าเอ๋ย ข้าพเจ้าเขียนข้อความเหล่านี้ถึงท่านทั้งหลาย เพื่อท่านจะได้ไม่ทำบาป และถ้าผู้ใดทำบาป เราก็มีพระองค์ผู้ช่วยเหลือสถิตอยู่กับพระบิดา คือพระเยซูคริสต์ผู้ทรงชอบธรรมนั้น
2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2และพระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ลบล้างพระอาชญาที่ตกกับเราทั้งหลายเพราะบาปของเรา และไม่ใช่แต่บาปของเราพวกเดียว แต่บาปของมนุษย์ทั้งปวงในโลกด้วย
3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
3เราจะมั่นใจได้ว่าเรารู้จักกับพระองค์โดยข้อนี้ คือถ้าเราประพฤติตามพระบัญญัติของพระองค์
4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
4คนใดที่กล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้ารู้จักกับพระองค์" แต่มิได้ประพฤติตามพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ คนนั้นเป็นคนพูดมุสา และความจริงไม่ได้อยู่ในคนนั้นเลย
5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
5แต่ผู้ใดที่ประพฤติตามพระวจนะของพระองค์ ความรักของพระเจ้าก็ถึงความสมบูรณ์ในคนนั้นแล้วอย่างแน่แท้ ด้วยอาการอย่างนี้แหละเราทั้งหลายจึงรู้ว่าเราอยู่ในพระองค์
6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
6ผู้ใดกล่าวว่าตนอยู่ในพระองค์ ผู้นั้นก็ควรดำเนินตามทางที่พระองค์ทรงดำเนินนั้นด้วย
7Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
7พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้เขียนพระบัญญัติใหม่ถึงท่านทั้งหลาย แต่เป็นพระบัญญัติเก่าซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายได้มีอยู่ตั้งแต่เริ่มแรก พระบัญญัติเก่านั้นคือพระคำซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินตั้งแต่เริ่มแรกแล้ว
8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
8อีกนัยหนึ่ง ข้าพเจ้าเขียนพระบัญญัติใหม่ถึงท่านทั้งหลาย และข้อความนั้นก็จริงทั้งฝ่ายพระองค์และฝ่ายท่านทั้งหลาย ก็เพราะว่าความมืดนั้นล่วงไป และบัดนี้ความสว่างแท้ก็ส่องอยู่แล้ว
9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
9ผู้ใดที่กล่าวว่าตนอยู่ในความสว่าง และยังเกลียดชังพี่น้องของตน ผู้นั้นก็ยังอยู่ในความมืดจนถึงเดี๋ยวนี้
10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
10ผู้ที่รักพี่น้องของตนก็อยู่ในความสว่าง และในผู้นั้นไม่มีช่องที่จะทำให้สะดุดเลย
11But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
11แต่ผู้ที่เกลียดชังพี่น้องของตนก็อยู่ในความมืด และเดินในความมืด และไม่รู้ว่าตนกำลังไปไหน เพราะว่าความมืดนั้นทำให้ตาของเขาบอดไปเสียแล้ว
12I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
12ลูกเล็กๆทั้งหลายเอ๋ย ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะว่าได้ทรงยกบาปของท่านแล้วด้วยเห็นแก่พระนามของพระองค์
13I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
13ท่านทั้งหลายที่เป็นบิดา ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะท่านทั้งหลายได้รู้จักกับพระองค์ผู้ทรงดำรงอยู่ตั้งแต่เดิม ท่านทั้งหลายที่เป็นคนหนุ่มๆ ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะท่านทั้งหลายได้ชัยชนะแก่มารชั่วร้าย ท่านทั้งหลายผู้เป็นลูกเล็กๆ ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะท่านทั้งหลายได้รู้จักกับพระบิดา
14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
14ท่านทั้งหลายที่เป็นบิดา ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะท่านทั้งหลายได้รู้จักกับพระองค์ผู้ทรงดำรงอยู่ตั้งแต่เดิม ท่านทั้งหลายที่เป็นคนหนุ่มๆ ข้าพเจ้าเขียนจดหมายถึงท่าน เพราะท่านทั้งหลายมีกำลังมาก และพระวจนะของพระเจ้าดำรงอยู่ในท่านทั้งหลาย และท่านได้ชัยชนะแก่มารชั่วร้ายแล้ว
15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
15อย่ารักโลกหรือสิ่งของในโลก ถ้าผู้ใดรักโลก ความรักต่อพระบิดาไม่ได้อยู่ในผู้นั้น
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
16เพราะว่าสารพัดซึ่งมีอยู่ในโลก คือตัณหาของเนื้อหนัง และตัณหาของตา และความเย่อหยิ่งในชีวิตไม่ได้เกิดมาจากพระบิดา แต่เกิดมาจากโลก
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
17และโลกกับสิ่งที่ยั่วยวนของโลกกำลังผ่านพ้นไป แต่ผู้ที่ประพฤติตามพระทัยของพระเจ้าก็ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์
18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
18ลูกเล็กๆทั้งหลายเอ๋ย บัดนี้เป็นวาระสุดท้ายแล้ว และตามที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินได้ฟังมาว่า ปฏิปักษ์ของพระคริสต์จะมีมา บัดนี้ปฏิปักษ์ของพระคริสต์ก็มีมามากแล้ว ฉะนั้นเราจึงรู้ว่าบัดนี้เป็นวาระสุดท้ายแล้ว
19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
19เขาเหล่านั้นได้ออกไปจากพวกเรา แต่เขาเหล่านั้นก็ไม่ใช่พวกเรา เพราะว่าถ้าเขาเป็นพวกของเรา เขาจะอยู่กับเราต่อไป แต่เขาได้ออกไปแล้ว ซึ่งก็เป็นที่ปรากฏชัดแล้วว่า เขาเหล่านั้นหาใช่พวกของเราทุกคนไม่
20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
20และท่านทั้งหลายได้รับการทรงเจิมจากพระองค์ผู้บริสุทธิ์แล้ว และท่านก็รู้ทุกสิ่ง
21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
21ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้เขียนมายังท่านทั้งหลายเพราะท่านไม่รู้ความจริง แต่เพราะท่านทั้งหลายรู้แล้ว และรู้ว่าคำมุสาไม่ได้เป็นมาจากความจริงเลย
22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
22ใครเล่าเป็นผู้ที่พูดมุสา ไม่ใช่ใครอื่น แต่เป็นผู้ที่ปฏิเสธว่าพระเยซูมิใช่พระคริสต์ ผู้ใดที่ปฏิเสธพระบิดาและพระบุตร ผู้นั้นแหละเป็นปฏิปักษ์ของพระคริสต์
23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
23ผู้ใดที่ปฏิเสธพระบุตร ผู้นั้นก็ไม่มีพระบิดา ผู้ใดที่รับพระบุตร ผู้นั้นก็มีพระบิดาด้วย
24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
24เหตุฉะนั้น จงให้ข้อความที่ท่านได้ยินมาตั้งแต่ต้นนั้นดำรงอยู่กับท่านเถิด ถ้าข้อความที่ท่านได้ยินตั้งแต่ต้นนั้นดำรงอยู่กับท่าน ท่านจะตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ในพระบุตรและในพระบิดาด้วย
25And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
25นี่แหละเป็นพระสัญญาซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงสัญญาไว้แก่เรา คือโปรดให้มีชีวิตนิรันดร์
26These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
26ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนข้อความนี้ถึงท่าน กล่าวถึงคนเหล่านั้นที่หลอกลวงท่าน
27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
27แต่การเจิมซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายได้รับจากพระองค์นั้นดำรงอยู่กับท่าน และไม่จำเป็นต้องมีใครสอนท่านทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าการเจิมนั้นได้สอนท่านให้รู้ทุกสิ่ง และเป็นความจริง และไม่ใช่ความเท็จ การเจิมนั้นสอนท่านทั้งหลายแล้วอย่างใด ท่านจงตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ในพระองค์อย่างนั้น
28And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
28และบัดนี้ลูกเล็กๆทั้งหลายเอ๋ย จงอยู่ในพระองค์ เพื่อว่าเมื่อพระองค์ทรงปรากฏ เราทั้งหลายจะได้มีใจกล้า และไม่มีความละอายจำเพาะพระองค์เมื่อพระองค์จะเสด็จมา
29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
29ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายรู้ว่าพระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ชอบธรรม ท่านก็รู้ว่าทุกคนที่ประพฤติตามความชอบธรรมก็ได้บังเกิดมาจากพระองค์ด้วย
