1The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
1ข้าพเจ้าผู้ปกครอง เรียน กายอัสที่รัก ผู้ซึ่งข้าพเจ้ารักเนื่องในความจริง
2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
2ท่านที่รัก ข้าพเจ้าปรารถนามากกว่าทุกสิ่งว่า ท่านจะจำเริญและมีสุขภาพดี อย่างจิตวิญญาณของท่านจำเริญอยู่นั้น
3For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
3เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้ามีความยินดีอย่างยิ่ง เมื่อพวกพี่น้องได้มา และเป็นพยานถึงความจริงที่อยู่ในตัวท่าน ตามที่ท่านได้ประพฤติตามความจริงนั้น
4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
4ไม่มีสิ่งใดที่จะทำให้ข้าพเจ้ายินดียิ่งกว่านี้ คือที่ได้ยินว่า บุตรทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้าประพฤติตามความจริง
5Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
5ท่านที่รัก เมื่อท่านกระทำสิ่งใดให้พี่น้องและให้แก่แขกที่มาบ้าน ท่านก็กระทำอย่างสัตย์ซื่อ
6Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
6เขาเหล่านั้นได้เป็นพยานต่อหน้าคริสตจักรในเรื่องความรักของท่าน ถ้าท่านจะช่วยจัดส่งเขาเหล่านั้นในการเดินทางของเขา ตามที่สมควรอย่างพระเจ้า ท่านก็จะกระทำดี
7Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
7เขาเหล่านั้นได้ออกไปเพราะเห็นแก่พระนามของพระองค์ และไม่ได้รับสิ่งใดจากพวกต่างชาติเลย
8We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
8ฉะนั้นเราควรต้อนรับคนอย่างนั้น เพื่อเราจะได้เป็นผู้ร่วมงานกับความจริง
9I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
9ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนถึงคริสตจักร แต่ดิโอเตรเฟส ผู้อยากจะเป็นคนใหญ่คนโตในพวกเขา ได้รับรองเราไว้ไม่
10Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
10เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าข้าพเจ้ามา ข้าพเจ้าจะจดจำการกระทำทั้งหลายของเขา คือที่เขาพร่ำกล่าวใส่ความเราด้วยคำเลวทราม และเท่านั้นยังไม่สะใจ มิหนำซ้ำตัวเขาเองไม่ยอมรับรองพี่น้องเหล่านั้น และยังกีดกันคนที่ใคร่จะรับรองเขา และไล่เขาออกจากคริสตจักร
11Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
11ท่านที่รัก อย่าเอาเยี่ยงสิ่งที่ชั่ว แต่จงเอาอย่างสิ่งที่ดี ผู้ที่ทำดีก็มาจากพระเจ้า ผู้ที่ทำชั่วก็ไม่เห็นพระเจ้า
12Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
12ทุกคนก็เป็นพยานให้เดเมตริอัส และความจริงเองก็เป็นพยานอยู่ในตัว เออ เราเองก็เป็นพยานด้วย และท่านก็รู้ว่าคำพยานของเราจริง
13I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
13ข้าพเจ้ามีหลายเรื่องที่จะเขียน แต่ไม่อยากจะเขียนถึงท่านด้วยน้ำหมึกและปากกา
14But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
14แต่ข้าพเจ้าหวังว่าจะได้พบท่านในเร็วๆนี้ และจะได้พูดกันเฉพาะหน้า ขอสันติสุขจงมีแก่ท่าน บรรดาสหายของเราฝากความระลึกถึงมายังท่าน ขอฝากความระลึกถึงมายังบรรดาสหายโดยเรียงตัวเป็นลำดับไป
