¹Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

¹เหตุฉะนั้น ครั้นเรามีพยานหมู่ใหญ่อย่างนั้นอยู่รอบข้าง ให้เราทิ้งของหนักทุกสิ่งที่ขัดข้องอยู่ และการผิดที่เรามักง่ายกระทำนั้น และการวิ่งแข่งกันที่กำหนดไว้สำหรับเรานั้น ให้เราวิ่งด้วยความเพียรพยายาม

²Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²หมายเอาพระเยซูเป็นผู้ริเริ่มความเชื่อ และผู้ทรงทำให้ความเชื่อของเราสำเร็จ เพราะเห็นแก่ความยินดีที่มีอยู่ตรงหน้านั้น พระองค์ได้ทรงทนเอากางเขน ทรงถือว่าความละอายไม่เป็นสิ่งสำคัญอะไร และได้เสด็จประทับเบื้องขวาพระที่นั่งของพระเจ้าแล้ว

³For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

³ด้วยว่าท่านทั้งหลายจงพินิจคิดถึงพระองค์ ผู้ได้ทรงทนเอาการติเตียนนินทาแห่งคนบาปต่อพระองค์มากเท่าใด เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะไม่อ่อนระอาใจไป

⁴Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

⁴ท่านทั้งหลายยังไม่ได้รบสู้กับความบาปจนถึงโลหิตตก

⁵And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

⁵และท่านได้ลืมคำเตือนนั้นเสีย ซึ่งได้เตือนท่านเหมือนกับเตือนบุตรว่า `บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย อย่าดูหมิ่นการตีสอนขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และอย่าระอาใจเมื่อพระองค์ทรงติเตียนท่านนั้น

⁶For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

⁶เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงตีสอนผู้ที่พระองค์ทรงรัก และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงรับผู้ใดเป็นบุตร พระองค์ก็ทรงเฆี่ยนตีผู้นั้น'

⁷If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

⁷ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายทนเอาการตีสอน พระเจ้าย่อมทรงปฏิบัติต่อท่านเหมือนท่านเป็นบุตร ด้วยว่ามีบุตรคนใดเล่าที่บิดาไม่ได้ตีสอนเขาบ้าง

⁸But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

⁸แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายไม่ได้ถูกตีสอนเช่นเดียวกับคนทั้งปวง ท่านก็ไม่ได้เป็นบุตร แต่เป็นลูกที่ไม่มีพ่อ

⁹Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

⁹อีกประการหนึ่ง เราทั้งหลายได้มีบิดาตามเนื้อหนังที่ได้ตีสอนเรา และเราจึงได้นับถือบิดานั้น ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก เราควรจะได้ยำเกรงนบนอบต่อพระบิดาแห่งจิตวิญญาณและจำเริญชีวิตมิใช่หรือ

¹⁰For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

¹⁰เพราะแท้จริงบิดาเหล่านั้นตีสอนเราเพียงชั่วเวลาเล็กน้อย ตามความเห็นดีเห็นชอบของเขาเท่านั้น แต่พระองค์ได้ทรงตีสอนเราเพื่อประโยชน์ของเรา เพื่อให้เราได้เข้าส่วนในความบริสุทธิ์ของพระองค์

¹¹Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

¹¹ดังนั้นการตีสอนทุกอย่างเมื่อกำลังถูกอยู่นั้นไม่เป็นการชื่นใจเลย แต่เป็นการเศร้าใจ แต่ภายหลังก็กระทำให้เกิดผลเป็นความสุขสำราญแก่บรรดาคนที่ต้องทนอยู่นั้น คือความชอบธรรมนั้นเอง

¹²Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

¹²เพราะเหตุนั้น จงยกมือที่อ่อนแรงขึ้น และจงให้หัวเข่าที่อ่อนล้ามีกำลังขึ้น

¹³And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

¹³และจงกระทำทางที่เท้าของท่านจะเดินไปนั้นให้ตรงไป เพื่ออาการที่ทำให้ง่อยจะมิได้กำเริบขึ้น แต่จะได้หายเป็นปกติ

¹⁴Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

¹⁴จงอุตส่าห์ที่จะสงบสุขอยู่กับคนทั้งปวง และที่จะได้ใจบริสุทธิ์ ด้วยว่านอกจากนั้นไม่มีใครจะได้เห็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

¹⁵Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

¹⁵และจงระวังให้ดีเกรงว่าจะมีบางคนกำลังเสื่อมจากพระกรุณาคุณของพระเจ้า และเกรงว่าจะมีรากขมขื่นแซมขึ้นมาทำให้เกิดความยุ่งยากแก่ท่าน และเป็นเหตุให้คนเป็นอันมากมลทินไป

¹⁶Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

¹⁶และเกรงว่าจะมีคนกระทำผิดประเวณีหรือคนประมาทเหมือนอย่างเอซาว ผู้ได้เอาสิทธิของบุตรหัวปีนั้นขายเสียเพราะเห็นแก่อาหารคำเดียว

¹⁷For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

¹⁷เพราะท่านทั้งหลายก็รู้อยู่แล้วว่า ต่อมาภายหลังเมื่อเอซาวอยากได้รับพรนั้นเป็นมรดก เขาก็ได้รับคำปฏิเสธ เพราะเขาไม่มีหนทางแก้ไขเลย ถึงแม้ว่าได้กลับใจแสวงหาจนน้ำตาไหล

¹⁸For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

¹⁸ท่านทั้งหลายไม่ได้มาถึงภูเขาที่จะถูกต้องได้ และที่ได้ไหม้ไฟแล้ว และถึงที่ดำ ถึงที่มืดมิด และถึงที่ลมพายุ

¹⁹And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

¹⁹และถึงเสียงแตร และถึงพระสุรเสียงตรัส ซึ่งคนเหล่านั้นที่ได้ยินแล้วได้อ้อนวอนขอไม่ให้ตรัสแก่เขาอีก

²⁰(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

²⁰(เพราะว่าข้อความที่ทรงบัญญัติไว้นั้นเขาทนไม่ได้ คือที่ว่า "แม้แต่สัตว์ถ้าแตะต้องภูเขานั้นก็จะต้องถูกขว้างด้วยก้อนหินให้ตาย หรือแทงทะลุด้วยแหลนให้ตาย"

²¹And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

²¹สิ่งที่เห็นนั้นน่ากลัวจริงๆจนโมเสสเองก็กล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้ากลัวจนตัวสั่น")

²²But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

²²แต่ท่านทั้งหลายได้มาถึงภูเขาศิโยน และมาถึงเมืองของพระเจ้าผู้ทรงดำรงพระชนม์อยู่ คือกรุงเยรูซาเล็มแห่งสวรรค์ และมาถึงที่ชุมนุมทูตสวรรค์มากมายเหลือที่จะนับได้

²³To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

²³และมาถึงที่ชุมนุมอันใหญ่และมาถึงคริสตจักรของบุตรหัวปี ซึ่งมีชื่อจารึกไว้ในสวรรค์แล้ว และมาถึงพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพิพากษาคนทั้งปวง และมาถึงจิตวิญญาณของคนชอบธรรมซึ่งถึงความสมบูรณ์แล้ว

²⁴And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel.

²⁴และมาถึงพระเยซูผู้กลางแห่งพันธสัญญาใหม่ และมาถึงพระโลหิตประพรมที่มีเสียงร้องอันประเสริฐกว่าเสียงโลหิตของอาแบล

²⁵See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

²⁵จงระวังให้ดี อย่าปฏิเสธไม่ยอมฟังพระองค์ผู้ตรัสนั้น เพราะว่าถ้าเขาเหล่านั้นที่ปฏิเสธไม่ยอมฟังคำเตือนของพระองค์ที่พื้นแผ่นดินโลกไม่ได้พ้นโทษ ถ้าเราเมินหน้าจากพระองค์ผู้ทรงเตือนจากสวรรค์ เราทั้งหลายก็จะไม่ได้พ้นโทษมากยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก

²⁶Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

²⁶พระสุรเสียงของพระองค์คราวนั้นได้บันดาลให้แผ่นดินหวั่นไหว แต่บัดนี้พระองค์ได้ตรัสสัญญาไว้ว่า "อีกครั้งหนึ่งเราจะกระทำให้หวาดหวั่นไหว มิใช่แผ่นดินโลกแห่งเดียว แต่ทั้งสวรรค์ด้วย"

²⁷And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

²⁷และพระดำรัสที่ตรัสไว้ว่า `อีกครั้งหนึ่ง' นั้น แสดงว่าสิ่งที่หวั่นไหวนั้นจะถูกกำจัดเสีย เหมือนกับสิ่งที่ทรงสร้างให้มีขึ้น เพื่อให้สิ่งที่ไม่หวั่นไหวคงเหลืออยู่

²⁸Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

²⁸เหตุฉะนั้น ครั้นเราได้อาณาจักรที่ไม่หวั่นไหวมาแล้ว ก็ให้เรารับพระคุณ เพื่อเราจะได้ปฏิบัติพระเจ้าตามชอบพระทัยของพระองค์ ด้วยความเคารพและยำเกรง

²⁹For our God is a consuming fire.

²⁹เพราะว่าพระเจ้าของเรานั้นทรงเป็นเพลิงที่เผาผลาญ
