1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
1เหตุฉะนั้นท่านพี่น้องอันบริสุทธิ์ ผู้เข้าส่วนด้วยกันในการทรงเรียกซึ่งมาจากสวรรค์นั้น จงพิจารณาอัครสาวกและมหาปุโรหิตซึ่งเรารับเชื่ออยู่นั้น คือพระเยซูคริสต์
2Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
2ผู้ทรงสัตย์ซื่อต่อพระเจ้าผู้ได้ทรงแต่งตั้งพระองค์ไว้ เหมือนอย่างโมเสสได้สัตย์ซื่อในพรรคพวกของพระองค์ทั้งสิ้น
3For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
3แต่ถึงกระนั้นพระองค์ก็ทรงสมควรได้รับพระเกียรติมากกว่าโมเสสมากนัก เช่นเดียวกับผู้สร้างบ้านย่อมมีเกียรติยศมากกว่าบ้านนั้น
4For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
4ด้วยว่าบ้านทุกหลังต้องมีผู้สร้าง แต่ว่าผู้ทรงสร้างสรรพสิ่งทั้งปวงก็คือพระเจ้า
5And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
5ฝ่ายโมเสสนั้นสัตย์ซื่อในพรรคพวกของพระองค์ทั้งสิ้นก็อย่างคนรับใช้ เพื่อจะได้เป็นพยานถึงเหตุการณ์เหล่านั้นซึ่งจะกล่าวต่อภายหลัง
6But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
6แต่พระคริสต์นั้นในฐานะพระบุตรที่ทรงอำนาจเหนือครอบครัวของพระองค์ และเราทั้งหลายเป็นครอบครัวนั้นแหละ หากเราจะยึดความมั่นใจและความชื่นชมยินดีในความหวังนั้นไว้ให้มั่นคงจนถึงที่สุด
7Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
7เหตุฉะนั้น ตามที่พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ตรัสว่า `วันนี้ ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์
8Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
8อย่าให้จิตใจของท่านแข็งกระด้างไปอย่างในครั้งกบฏนั้น เหมือนอย่างในวันที่ถูกทดลองในถิ่นทุรกันดาร
9When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
9เมื่อบรรพบุรุษของท่านทดลองเราโดยเอาเราเข้าพิสูจน์ และได้เห็นกิจการของเราถึงสี่สิบปี
10Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
10เพราะเหตุนั้นเราจึงเคืองคนชั่วอายุนั้น และว่า "ใจของเขาหลงผิดอยู่เสมอ เขาไม่รู้จักทางทั้งหลายของเรา"
11So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
11ดังนั้นเราจึงปฏิญาณด้วยความพิโรธของเราว่า "เขาจะไม่ได้เข้าสู่ที่สงบสุขของเรา"'
12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
12ท่านพี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงระวังให้ดี เพื่อจะไม่มีผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดในพวกท่านมีใจชั่วและไม่เชื่อ แล้วก็หลงไปจากพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์
13But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
13ท่านจงเตือนสติกันและกันทุกวัน ตลอดเวลาที่เรียกว่า "วันนี้" เพื่อว่าจะไม่มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านมีใจแข็งกระด้างไปเพราะเล่ห์กลของบาป
14For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
14เพราะว่าถ้าเรายึดความไว้วางใจที่เรามีอยู่ตอนต้นไว้ให้มั่นคงจนถึงที่สุด เราก็กลายมาเป็นผู้มีส่วนกับพระคริสต์
15While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
15เมื่อมีคำกล่าวไว้ว่า `วันนี้ ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์ อย่าให้จิตใจของท่านแข็งกระด้างไปอย่างในครั้งกบฏนั้น'
16For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
16เพราะบางคน เมื่อเขาได้ยินแล้ว ก็ยังได้กบฏอยู่ แต่มิใช่ทุกคนที่โมเสสได้นำออกจากประเทศอียิปต์
17But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
17และใครหนอที่พระองค์ได้ทรงโทมนัสตลอดสี่สิบปีนั้น ก็คนเหล่านั้นที่กระทำบาป และซากศพของเขาทิ้งอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารมิใช่หรือ
18And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
18และแก่ใครหนอที่พระองค์ได้ทรงปฏิญาณว่า เขาจะไม่ได้เข้าสู่ที่สงบสุขของพระองค์ ก็คนเหล่านั้นที่ไม่เชื่อมิใช่หรือ
19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
19ฉะนั้นเราจึงรู้ว่า เขาไม่สามารถเข้าไปสู่ที่สงบสุขนั้นได้เพราะเขาไม่ได้เชื่อ
