¹Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

¹ดูเถิด ท่านผู้มั่งมี จงร้องไห้โอดครวญเพราะความวิบัติซึ่งจะเกิดกับท่าน

²Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

²ทรัพย์สมบัติของท่านก็ผุพังไปแล้ว และมอดก็กัดกินเสื้อผ้าของท่าน

³Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

³ทองและเงินของท่านก็เกิดสนิม และสนิมนั้นก็จะเป็นพยานหลักฐานต่อท่าน และจะกินเนื้อท่านดุจไฟ ท่านได้ส่ำสมสมบัติไว้แล้วสำหรับวันสุดท้าย

⁴Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

⁴ดูเถิด ค่าจ้างของคนที่ได้เกี่ยวข้าวในนาของท่าน ซึ่งท่านได้ฉ้อโกงไว้นั้น ก็ร้องฟ้องขึ้น และเสียงร้องของคนที่เกี่ยวข้าวนั้น ได้ทรงทราบถึงพระกรรณขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งจอมโยธาแล้ว

⁵Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

⁵ท่านมีชีวิตอยู่ในโลกอย่างฟุ่มเฟือยและสนุกสนาน ท่านได้เลี้ยงใจไว้รอวันประหาร

⁶Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

⁶ท่านได้ตัดสินลงโทษ และได้ฆ่าคนชอบธรรม เขาก็ไม่ได้ต่อสู้ท่าน

⁷Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

⁷เหตุฉะนั้นพี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงอดทนจนกว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะเสด็จมา ดูเถิด ชาวนารอคอยผลอันล้ำค่าที่จะได้จากแผ่นดิน เพียรคอยจนกระทั่งมีฝนต้นฤดูและฝนปลายฤดู

⁸Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

⁸ท่านทั้งหลายก็จงอดทนเช่นนั้นเหมือนกัน จงตั้งอกตั้งใจให้ดี ด้วยว่าการเสด็จมาขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าก็จวนจะถึงอยู่แล้ว

⁹Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

⁹พี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงอย่าบ่นว่ากันและกัน เพื่อท่านจะไม่ต้องถูกทรงพิพากษา ดูเถิด องค์พระผู้พิพากษาทรงประทับยืนอยู่หน้าประตูแล้ว

¹⁰Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

¹⁰พี่น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า จงเอาแบบอย่างในการทนทุกข์และการอดทนของพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ ผู้ได้กล่าวความในพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

¹¹Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

¹¹ดูเถิด เราถือว่าผู้ที่อดทนก็เป็นสุข ท่านได้รู้เรื่องความอดทนของโยบ และได้เห็นที่สุดปลายขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแล้วว่า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้านั้นทรงเปี่ยมไปด้วยพระเมตตากรุณาสักเท่าใด

¹²But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

¹²พี่น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า ที่สำคัญยิ่งกว่าสิ่งอื่นใดก็คือ จงอย่าปฏิญาณ อย่าอ้างฟ้าสวรรค์หรือแผ่นดินโลก หรือคำปฏิญาณอื่นๆ แต่ที่ควรว่าใช่ก็จงว่าใช่ ที่ควรว่าไม่ก็จงว่าไม่ เพื่อท่านจะไม่ถูกลงโทษ

¹³Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

¹³มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านทนทุกข์หรือ จงให้ผู้นั้นอธิษฐาน มีผู้ใดร่าเริงยินดีหรือ จงให้ผู้นั้นร้องเพลงสรรเสริญ

¹⁴Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

¹⁴มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านเจ็บป่วยหรือ จงให้ผู้นั้นเชิญบรรดาผู้ปกครองของคริสตจักรมา และให้ท่านเหล่านั้นอธิษฐานเพื่อเขา และเจิมเขาด้วยน้ำมันในพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

¹⁵And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

¹⁵และการอธิษฐานด้วยความเชื่อจะช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยรอดชีวิต และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะทรงโปรดให้เขาหายโรค และถ้าเขาได้กระทำบาป พระองค์ก็จะทรงโปรดอภัยให้

¹⁶Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

¹⁶ท่านทั้งหลายจงสารภาพความผิดต่อกันและกัน และจงอธิษฐานเพื่อกันและกัน เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้หายโรค คำอธิษฐานด้วยใจร้อนรนของผู้ชอบธรรมนั้นมีพลังมากทำให้เกิดผล

¹⁷Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

¹⁷ท่านเอลียาห์ก็เป็นมนุษย์ที่มีสภาพอารมณ์เหมือนกับเราทั้งหลาย และท่านได้อธิษฐานด้วยความเชื่ออันแรงกล้า ขอไม่ให้ฝนตก และฝนก็ไม่ตกต้องแผ่นดินถึงสามปีกับหกเดือน

¹⁸And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

¹⁸และท่านได้อธิษฐานอีกครั้งหนึ่ง และฟ้าสวรรค์ได้ประทานฝนให้ และแผ่นดินจึงได้ผลิตพืชผลต่างๆ

¹⁹Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

¹⁹พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ถ้าคนใดในพวกท่านหลงผิดไปจากความจริง และผู้ใดชักจูงเขาให้เขากลับใจเสียใหม่

²⁰Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

²⁰จงให้ผู้นั้นรู้เถิดว่า ผู้ที่ช่วยคนบาปคนหนึ่งให้พ้นจากทางผิดของเขานั้น ก็ได้ช่วยชีวิตของเขาให้รอดพ้นจากความตาย และได้ปกปิดการบาปเป็นอันมากไว้
