1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
1ฝ่ายท่านจงสั่งสอนให้สอดคล้องกับคำสอนอันถูกต้อง
2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
2พึงสอนชายที่สูงอายุให้รู้จักประมาณตนในการกินดื่ม ให้เอาจริงเอาจัง ให้มีสติสัมปชัญญะ ให้มีความเชื่อ ความรัก และความอดทนอันถูกต้อง
3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
3ส่วนผู้หญิงที่สูงอายุก็เหมือนกัน ให้เขามีการประพฤติอย่างบริสุทธิ์ อย่าให้เป็นคนใส่ความเท็จ ไม่เป็นคนดื่มเหล้าองุ่นมาก แต่ให้เป็นผู้สอนสิ่งที่ดีงาม
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
4เพื่อเขาจะได้ฝึกสอนพวกผู้หญิงสาวๆให้รู้จักประมาณตนในการกินดื่ม ให้รักสามีและรักบุตรของตน
5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
5ให้มีสติสัมปชัญญะ เป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ เอาใจใส่ในบ้านเรือน เป็นคนดี และเชื่อฟังสามีของตน เช่นนี้จึงจะไม่มีผู้ใดลบหลู่พระวจนะของพระเจ้าได้
6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
6ส่วนผู้ชายหนุ่มก็เหมือนกัน จงเตือนเขาให้ใช้สติสัมปชัญญะ
7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
7ท่านจงประพฤติตนให้เป็นแบบอย่างในการดีทุกสิ่ง ในคำสอนจงแสดงความสุจริต ให้เอาจริงเอาจัง ให้จริงใจ
8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
8และใช้คำพูดอันถูกต้อง ซึ่งไม่มีผู้ใดจะตำหนิได้ เพื่อฝ่ายปฏิปักษ์จะได้อาย ไม่มีสิ่งใดจะติท่านได้
9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
9จงตักเตือนพวกทาสให้เชื่อฟังนายของตน และให้กระทำสิ่งที่ถูกใจนายทุกประการ อย่าให้เถียงเลย
10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
10อย่าให้ยักยอก แต่ให้สัตย์ซื่อหมดทุกอย่าง เพื่อว่าในการทั้งปวงนั้น เขาจะได้เทิดเกียรติพระดำรัสสอนของพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงเป็นพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา
11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
11เพราะว่าพระคุณของพระเจ้าที่นำไปถึงความรอดได้ปรากฏแก่คนทั้งปวงแล้ว
12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
12สอนให้เราละทิ้งความอธรรมและโลกียตัณหา และดำเนินชีวิตในโลกปัจจุบันนี้อย่างมีสติสัมปชัญญะ อย่างชอบธรรม และตามทางพระเจ้า
13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
13คอยความหวังอันมีสุข และการปรากฏอันทรงสง่าราศีของพระเจ้าใหญ่ยิ่ง และพระเยซูคริสต์พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา
14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
14ผู้ได้ทรงโปรดประทานพระองค์เองให้เรา เพื่อไถ่เราให้พ้นจากความชั่วช้าทุกอย่าง และทรงชำระเราให้บริสุทธิ์ เพื่อให้เป็นหมู่ชนพิเศษเฉพาะของพระองค์ และเป็นคนที่ขวนขวายกระทำการดี
15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
15ข้อความเหล่านี้ ท่านจงใช้พูด ตักเตือน และว่ากล่าวเขาด้วยสิทธิอำนาจทุกอย่าง อย่าให้ผู้ใดประมาทท่านได้
