¹In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

¹Nhằm năm mà Sa-gôn, vua A-si-ri, sai Ta-tân đến Ách-đốt, vây thành và chiếm lấy,

²At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

²trong lúc đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va nhờ con trai A-mốt, là Ê-sai, mà phán rằng: Hãy đi, cổi bao gai khỏi lưng ngươi, và lột giày khỏi chơn ngươi. Ê-sai vâng lời, đi trần, và chơn không.

³And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

³Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán rằng: Như đầy tớ ta là Ê-sai đã đi trần và chơn không trong ba năm, làm dấu và điềm chỉ về Ê-díp-tô và Ê-thi-ô-bi thể nào,

⁴So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

⁴thì những phu tù của Ê-díp-tô và lưu tù của Ê-thi-ô-bi, cả trẻ lẫn già, cũng bị vua A-si-ri giải đi trần và chơn không, bày mông ra thể ấy, để làm nhục nước Ê-díp-tô.

⁵And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

⁵Bấy giờ chúng nó sẽ sợ sệt và hổ thẹn vì cớ Ê-thi-ô-bi, là sự trông cậy mình, và Ê-díp-tô, là sự vinh hiển mình.

⁶And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

⁶Trong ngày đó, kẻ ở gần biển sẽ nói rằng: Kìa, dân tộc mà chúng ta vốn đem lòng trông cậy, và chạy đến cầu cứu để được giải thoát khỏi vua A-si-ri, thì nay đã trở nên thể ấy rồi! Chúng ta làm sao trốn khỏi được?
