¹And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

¹Khỏi một vài ngày, Ðức Chúa Jêsus trở lại thành Ca-bê-na-um, và chúng nghe nói Ngài ở trong nhà.

²And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

²Họ họp lại tại đó đông lắm, đến nỗi trước cửa cũng không còn chỗ trống; Ngài giảng đạo cho họ nghe.

³And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

³Bấy giờ có mấy kẻ đem tới cho Ngài một người đau bại, có bốn người khiêng.

⁴And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

⁴Nhưng, vì đông người, không lại gần Ngài được, nên dở mái nhà ngay chỗ Ngài ngồi, rồi do lỗ đó dòng giường người bại xuống.

⁵When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

⁵Ðức Chúa Jêsus thấy đức tin họ, bèn phán với kẻ bại rằng: Hỡi con ta, tội lỗi ngươi đã được tha.

⁶But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

⁶Vả, có mấy thầy thông giáo ngồi đó, nghĩ thầm rằng:

⁷Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

⁷Sao người nầy nói như vậy? Người nói phạm thượng đó! Ngoài mình Ðức Chúa Trời, còn có ai tha tội được chăng?

⁸And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

⁸Ðức Chúa Jêsus trong trí đã tự hiểu họ nghĩ như vậy, tức thì phán rằng: Sao các ngươi bàn luận trong lòng thể ấy?

⁹Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

⁹Nay bảo kẻ bại rằng: Tội ngươi đã được tha; hay là bảo người rằng: Hãy đứng dậy vác giường mà đi; hai điều ấy điều nào dễ hơn?

¹⁰But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

¹⁰Vả, để cho các ngươi biết rằng Con người ở thế gian có quyền tha tội, thì Ngài phán cùng kẻ bại rằng:

¹¹I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

¹¹Ta biểu ngươi, hãy đứng dậy, vác giường đi về nhà.

¹²And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

¹²Kẻ bại đứng dậy, tức thì vác giường đi ra trước mặt thiên hạ; đến nỗi ai nấy làm lạ, ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời, mà rằng: Chúng tôi chưa hề thấy việc thể nầy.

¹³And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

¹³Bấy giờ, Ðức Chúa Jêsus trở lại về phía mé biển; cả dân chúng đến cùng Ngài, rồi Ngài dạy dỗ họ.

¹⁴And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁴Ngài vừa đi qua thấy Lê-vi, con A-phê, đương ngồi tại sở thâu thuế, thì phán cùng người rằng: Hãy theo ta. Người đứng dậy theo Ngài.

¹⁵And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.

¹⁵Ðức Chúa Jêsus đương ngồi ăn tại nhà Lê-vi, có nhiều kẻ thâu thuế và người có tội đồng bàn với Ngài và môn đồ Ngài; vì trong bọn đó có nhiều kẻ theo Ngài rồi.

¹⁶And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

¹⁶Các thầy thông giáo và người Pha-ri-si thấy Ngài ăn với người thâu thuế và kẻ phạm tội, thì nói với môn đồ Ngài rằng: Người cùng ăn với kẻ thâu thuế và người có tội sao!

¹⁷When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

¹⁷Ðức Chúa Jêsus nghe vậy, bèn phán cùng họ rằng: Chẳng phải kẻ mạnh khỏe cần thầy thuốc đâu, nhưng là kẻ có bịnh; ta chẳng phải đến gọi người công bình, nhưng gọi kẻ có tội.

¹⁸And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

¹⁸Vả, môn đồ của Giăng và người Pha-ri-si đều kiêng ăn. Có người đến thưa cùng Ðức Chúa Jêsus rằng: Bởi cớ nào môn đồ của Giăng và môn đồ của người Pha-ri-si đều kiêng ăn, còn môn đồ của thầy không kiêng ăn?

¹⁹And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

¹⁹Ðức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Bạn hữu của chàng rể có kiêng ăn được trong khi chàng rể còn ở cùng mình chăng? Hễ chàng rể còn ở với họ đến chừng nào, thì họ không thể kiêng ăn được đến chừng nấy.

²⁰But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

²⁰Song tới kỳ chàng rể phải đem đi khỏi họ, trong ngày đó họ sẽ kiêng ăn.

²¹No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

²¹Không ai vá miếng nỉ mới vào cái áo cũ; nếu vậy thì miếng nỉ mới chằng rách áo cũ, mà đàng rách càng xấu thêm.

²²And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

²²Cũng không ai đổ rượu mới vào bầu da cũ; nếu vậy, rượu làm vỡ bầu, rượu mất và bầu cũng chẳng còn.

²³And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

²³Nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Ðức Chúa Jêsus đi qua đồng lúa mì; đang đi đường, môn đồ Ngài bứt bông lúa mì.

²⁴And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

²⁴Các người Pha-ri-si bèn nói cùng Ngài rằng: Coi kìa, sao môn đồ thầy làm điều không nên làm trong ngày Sa-bát?

²⁵And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

²⁵Ngài đáp rằng: Các ngươi chưa đọc đến sự vua Ða-vít làm trong khi vua cùng những người đi theo bị túng đói hay sao?

²⁶How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

²⁶Thể nào trong đời A-bi-tha làm thầy cả thượng phẩm, vua ấy vào đến Ðức Chúa Trời, ăn bánh bày ra, lại cũng cho những người đi theo ăn nữa, dầu bánh ấy chỉ những thầy tế lễ mới được phép ăn thôi?

²⁷And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

²⁷Ðoạn, Ngài lại phán: Vì loài người mà lập ngày Sa-bát, chớ chẳng phải vì ngày Sa-bát mà dựng nên loài người.

²⁸Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

²⁸Vậy thì Con người cũng làm chủ ngày Sa-bát.
