¹My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

²So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

²Ðể lắng tai nghe sự khôn ngoan, Và chuyên lòng con về sự thông sáng;

³Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

³Phải nếu con kêu cầu sự phân biện, Và cất tiếng lên cầu xin sự thông sáng,

⁴If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

⁴Nếu con tìm nó như tiền bạc, Và kiếm nó như bửu vật ẩn bí,

⁵Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

⁵Bấy giờ con sẽ hiểu biết sự kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va, Và tìm được điều tri thức của Ðức Chúa Trời.

⁶For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

⁶Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va ban cho sự khôn ngoan; từ miệng Ngài ra điều tri thức và thông sáng.

⁷He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

⁷Ngài dành ơn cứu rỗi cho người ngay thẳng; Ngài là thuẫn đỡ của người làm theo sự đoan chính,

⁸He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

⁸Phù hộ các lối của người công bình, Và giữ gìn đường của thánh đồ Ngài.

⁹Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

⁹Bấy giờ con sẽ hiểu biết sự công bình, sự lý đoán, Sự chánh trực, và các nẻo lành.

¹⁰When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

¹⁰Vì sự khôn ngoan sẽ vào trong lòng con, Và linh hồn con sẽ lấy sự hiểu biết làm vui thích.

¹¹Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

¹¹Sự dẽ dặt sẽ coi sóc con, Sự thông sáng sẽ gìn giữ con,

¹²To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

¹²Ðể cứu con khỏi đường dữ, Khỏi kẻ nói việc gian tà,

¹³Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

¹³Và khỏi kẻ bỏ đường ngay thẳng, Mà đi theo các lối tối tăm;

¹⁴Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

¹⁴Là người vui dạ làm dữ, Ưa thích sự gian tà của kẻ ác;

¹⁵Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

¹⁵Chúng nó cong vạy trong đường lối mình, Và lầm lạc trong các nẻo mình;

¹⁶To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

¹⁶Lại sự khôn ngoan sẽ cứu con khỏi dâm phụ, Là người đờn bà lạ nói lời dua nịnh;

¹⁷Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

¹⁷Nàng lìa bỏ bạn của buổi đang thì, Và quên sự giao ước của Ðức Chúa Trời mình;

¹⁸For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

¹⁸Vì nhà nó xiêu qua sự chết, Và con đường nó dẫn đến chốn kẻ thác;

¹⁹None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

¹⁹Chẳng ai đi đến nàng mà trở về, Hoặc được tới các lối sự sống;

²⁰That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

²⁰Sự khôn ngoan sẽ khiến con đi trong đường người thiện, Và gìn giữ các lối của kẻ công bình.

²¹For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

²¹Vì người ngay thẳng sẽ được ở trên đất, Và người trọn vẹn sẽ còn ở đó luôn luôn.

²²But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

²²Nhưng kẻ gian ác sẽ bị truất khỏi đất, Và kẻ bất trung sẽ bị nhổ rứt khỏi đó.
