1And it came to pass, in Apollos` being in Corinth, Paul having gone through the upper parts, came to Ephesus, and having found certain disciples,
1 Tra oedd Apolos yng Nghorinth, teithiodd Paul drwy'r parthau uchaf, a daeth i Effesus. Yno daeth o hyd i rai disgyblion,
2he said unto them, `The Holy Spirit did ye receive — having believed?` and they said unto him, `But we did not even hear whether there is any Holy Spirit;`
2 a gofynnodd iddynt, "A dderbyniasoch yr Ysbryd Gln pan gredasoch?" Meddent hwythau wrtho, "Naddo; ni chlywsom hyd yn oed fod yna Ysbryd Gln."
3and he said unto them, `To what, then, were ye baptized?` and they said, `To John`s baptism.`
3 Dywedodd yntau, " pha fedydd, ynteu, y bedyddiwyd chwi?" Atebasant hwythau, " bedydd Ioan."
4And Paul said, `John, indeed, did baptize with a baptism of reformation, saying to the people that in him who is coming after him they should believe — that is, in the Christ — Jesus;`
4 Ac meddai Paul, "Bedydd edifeirwch oedd bedydd Ioan, ac fe ddywedodd wrth y bobl am gredu yn yr hwn oedd yn dod ar ei l ef, hynny yw, yn Iesu."
5and they, having heard, were baptized — to the name of the Lord Jesus,
5 Pan glywsant hyn, fe'u bedyddiwyd hwy i enw'r Arglwydd Iesu,
6and Paul having laid on them [his] hands, the Holy Spirit came upon them, they were speaking also with tongues, and prophesying,
6 a phan roddodd Paul ei ddwylo arnynt daeth yr Ysbryd Gln arnynt, a dechreusant lefaru thafodau a phroffwydo.
7and all the men were, as it were, twelve.
7 Yr oedd tua deuddeg ohonynt i gyd.
8And having gone into the synagogue, he was speaking boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading the things concerning the reign of God,
8 Aeth i mewn i'r synagog, ac am dri mis bu'n llefaru'n hy yno, gan ymresymu a cheisio eu hargyhoeddi ynghylch teyrnas Dduw.
9and when certain were hardened and were disbelieving, speaking evil of the way before the multitude, having departed from them, he did separate the disciples, every day reasoning in the school of a certain Tyrannus.
9 Ond gan fod rhai yn ymgaledu ac yn gwrthod credu, ac yn difenwi'r Ffordd yng ngu373?ydd y gynulleidfa, ymneilltuodd oddi wrthynt gan gymryd ei ddisgyblion oddi yno, a pharhau i ymresymu bob dydd yn narlithfa Tyranus.
10And this happened for two years so that all those dwelling in Asia did hear the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks,
10 Parhaodd hyn am ddwy flynedd, nes i holl drigolion Asia, yn Iddewon a Groegiaid, glywed gair yr Arglwydd.
11mighty works also — not common — was God working through the hands of Paul,
11 Gan mor rhyfeddol oedd y gwyrthiau yr oedd Duw'n eu gwneud trwy ddwylo Paul,
12so that even unto the ailing were brought from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the sicknesses departed from them; the evil spirits also went forth from them.
12 byddai pobl yn dod chadachau a llieiniau oedd wedi cyffwrdd 'i groen ef, ac yn eu gosod ar y cleifion, a byddai eu clefydau yn eu gadael, a'r ysbrydion drwg yn mynd allan ohonynt.
13And certain of the wandering exorcist Jews, took upon [them] to name over those having the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, `We adjure you by Jesus, whom Paul doth preach;`
13 A dyma rai o'r Iddewon a fyddai'n mynd o amgylch gan fwrw allan gythreuliaid, hwythau'n ceisio enwi enw'r Arglwydd Iesu uwch ben y rhai oedd ag ysbrydion drwg ganddynt, gan ddweud, "Yr wyf yn eich siarsio chwi yn enw Iesu, yr un y mae Paul yn ei bregethu."
14and there were certain — seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest — who are doing this thing;
14 Ac yr oedd gan ryw Scefa, prif offeiriad Iddewig, saith mab oedd yn gwneud hyn.
15and the evil spirit, answering, said, `Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with; and ye — who are ye?`
15 Ond atebodd yr ysbryd drwg hwy, "Iesu, yr wyf yn ei adnabod ef; a Paul, gwn amdano yntau; ond chwi, pwy ydych?"
16And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaping upon them, and having overcome them, prevailed against them, so that naked and wounded they did flee out of that house,
16 Dyma'r dyn ac ynddo'r ysbryd drwg yn llamu arnynt, a'u trechu i gyd, a'u maeddu nes iddynt ffoi o'r tu375? yn noeth a chlwyfedig.
17and this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who are dwelling at Ephesus, and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified,
17 Daeth hyn yn hysbys i'r holl Iddewon a Groegiaid oedd yn byw yn Effesus, a dychrynodd pawb; a chafodd enw'r Arglwydd Iesu ei fawrygu.
18many also of those who did believe were coming, confessing and declaring their acts,
18 Daeth llawer o'r rhai oedd bellach yn gredinwyr, a chyffesu eu dewiniaeth ar goedd.
19and many of those who had practised the curious arts, having brought the books together, were burning [them] before all; and they reckoned together the prices of them, and found [it] five myriads of silverlings;
19 Casglodd llawer o'r rhai a fu'n ymarfer swynion eu llyfrau ynghyd, a'u llosgi yng ngu373?ydd pawb; cyfrifwyd gwerth y rhain, a'i gael yn hanner can mil o ddarnau arian.
20so powerfully was the word of God increasing and prevailing.
20 Felly, yn l nerth yr Arglwydd, yr oedd y gair yn cynyddu a llwyddo.
21And when these things were fulfilled, Paul purposed in the Spirit, having gone through Macedonia and Achaia, to go on to Jerusalem, saying — `After my being there, it behoveth me also to see Rome;`
21 Wedi i'r pethau hyn gael eu cwblhau, rhoddodd Paul ei fryd ar deithio trwy Facedonia ac Achaia, ac yna mynd i Jerwsalem. "Wedi imi fod yno," meddai, "rhaid imi weld Rhufain hefyd."
22and having sent to Macedonia two of those ministering to him — Timotheus and Erastus — he himself stayed a time in Asia.
22 Anfonodd i Facedonia ddau o'r rhai oedd yn gweini arno, Timotheus ac Erastus, ond arhosodd ef ei hun am amser yn Asia.
23And there came, at that time, not a little stir about the way,
23 Yn ystod y cyfnod hwnnw, bu cynnwrf nid bychan ynglu375?n 'r Ffordd.
24for a certain one, Demetrius by name, a worker in silver, making silver sanctuaries of Artemis, was bringing to the artificers gain not a little,
24 Yr oedd gof arian o'r enw Demetrius, un oedd yn gwneud cysegrau arian i Artemis, ac felly yn cael llawer o waith i'w grefftwyr.
25whom, having brought in a crowd together, and those who did work about such things, he said, `Men, ye know that by this work we have our wealth;
25 Casglodd y rhain ynghyd, gyda'r gweithwyr o grefftau cyffelyb, a dywedodd: "Ddynion, fe wyddoch mai o'r fasnach hon y daw ein ffyniant ni.
26and ye see and hear, that not only at Ephesus, but almost in all Asia, this Paul, having persuaded, did turn away a great multitude, saying, that they are not gods who are made by hands;
26 Yr ydych hefyd yn gweld ac yn clywed fod y Paul yma wedi perswadio tyrfa fawr, nid yn Effesus yn unig ond drwy Asia gyfan bron, a'u camarwain drwy ddweud nad duwiau mo'r duwiau o waith llaw.
27and not only is this department in danger for us of coming into disregard, but also, that of the great goddess Artemis the temple is to be reckoned for nothing, and also her greatness is about to be brought down, whom all Asia and the world doth worship.`
27 Yn awr, y mae perygl nid yn unig y daw anfri ar ein crefft, ond hefyd y cyfrifir teml y dduwies fawr Artemis yn ddiddim, a hyd yn oed y bydd hi, y dduwies y mae Asia gyfan a'r byd yn ei haddoli, yn cael ei hamddifadu o'i mawrhydi."
28And they having heard, and having become full of wrath, were crying out, saying, `Great [is] the Artemis of the Ephesians!`
28 Pan glywsant hyn, llanwyd hwy dicter, a dechreusant weiddi, "Mawr yw Artemis yr Effesiaid."
29and the whole city was filled with confusion, they rushed also with one accord into the theatre, having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul`s fellow-travellers.
29 Llanwyd y ddinas 'u cynnwrf, a rhuthrasant yn unfryd i'r theatr, gan lusgo gyda hwy gyddeithwyr Paul, y Macedoniaid Gaius ac Aristarchus.
30And on Paul`s purposing to enter in unto the populace, the disciples were not suffering him,
30 Yr oedd Paul yn dymuno cael mynd gerbron y dinasyddion, ond ni adawai'r disgyblion iddo;
31and certain also of the chief men of Asia, being his friends, having sent unto him, were entreating him not to venture himself into the theatre.
31 a hefyd anfonodd rhai o uchel-swyddogion Asia, a oedd yn gyfeillgar ag ef, neges ato i erfyn arno beidio mentro i'r theatr.
32Some indeed, therefore, were calling out one thing, and some another, for the assembly was confused, and the greater part did not know for what they were come together;
32 Yn y cyfamser, yr oedd rhai yn gweiddi un peth ac eraill beth arall, oherwydd yr oedd y cyfarfod mewn cynnwrf, ac ni wyddai'r rhan fwyaf i beth yr oeddent wedi dod ynghyd.
33and out of the multitude they put forward Alexander — the Jews thrusting him forward — and Alexander having beckoned with the hand, wished to make defence to the populace,
33 Ond tybiodd rhai o'r dyrfa mai Alexander oedd yr achos, gan i'r Iddewon ei wthio ef i'r blaen. Gwnaeth yntau arwydd 'i law, gan ddymuno ei amddiffyn ei hun wrth y dinasyddion.
34and having known that he is a Jew, one voice came out of all, for about two hours, crying, `Great [is] the Artemis of the Ephesians!`
34 Ond pan ddeallwyd mai Iddew ydoedd, cododd un llef oddi wrthynt oll, a buont yn gweiddi am tua dwy awr, "Mawr yw Artemis yr Effesiaid."
35And the public clerk having quieted the multitude, saith, `Men, Ephesians, why, who is the man that doth not know that the city of the Ephesians is a devotee of the great goddess Artemis, and of that which fell down from Zeus?
35 Ond tawelodd clerc y ddinas y dyrfa, a dweud, "Bobl Effesus, pwy sydd heb wybod fod dinas yr Effesiaid yn geidwad teml Artemis fawr, a'r maen a syrthiodd o'r nef?
36these things, then, not being to be gainsaid, it is necessary for you to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
36 Felly, gan na all neb wadu hyn, rhaid i chwithau fod yn dawel a pheidio gwneud dim yn fyrbwyll.
37`For ye brought these men, who are neither temple-robbers nor speaking evil of your goddess;
37 Yr ydych wedi dod 'r dynion hyn gerbron, er nad ydynt yn ysbeilwyr temlau nac yn cablu ein duwies ni.
38if indeed, therefore, Demetrius and the artificers with him with any one have a matter, court [days] are held, and there are proconsuls; let them accuse one another.
38 Gan hynny, os oes gan Demetrius a'i gydgrefftwyr achos yn erbyn rhywun, y mae'r llysoedd barn yn cael eu cynnal ac y mae rhaglawiaid yno; gadewch i'r ddwy ochr gyhuddo ei gilydd yn ffurfiol.
39`And if ye seek after anything concerning other matters, in the legal assembly it shall be determined;
39 Ond os ydych am fynd 'r peth ymhellach, mewn cyfarfod rheolaidd o'r dinasyddion y mae i gael ei benderfynu.
40for we are also in peril of being accused of insurrection in regard to this day, there being no occasion by which we shall be able to give an account of this concourse;`
40 Yn wir, y mae perygl y cyhuddir ninnau o derfysg ynglu375?n 'r cyfarfod heddiw, gan nad oes dim achos amdano, ac am hynny ni allwn roi cyfrif am y cynnwrf yma."
41and these things having said, he dismissed the assembly.
41 Ac 'r geiriau hyn daeth 'r cyfarfod i ben.
