¹When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus more disciples doth make and baptize than John,

¹ Pan ddeallodd Iesu fod y Phariseaid wedi clywed ei fod ef yn ennill ac yn bedyddio mwy o ddisgyblion nag Ioan

²(though indeed Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples,)

² (er nad Iesu ei hun, ond ei ddisgyblion, fyddai'n bedyddio),

³he left Judea and went away again to Galilee,

³ gadawodd Jwdea ac aeth yn �l i Galilea.

⁴and it was behoving him to go through Samaria.

⁴ Ac yr oedd yn rhaid iddo fynd trwy Samaria.

⁵He cometh, therefore, to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the place that Jacob gave to Joseph his son;

⁵ Felly daeth i dref yn Samaria o'r enw Sychar, yn agos i'r darn tir a roddodd Jacob i'w fab Joseff.

⁶and there was there a well of Jacob. Jesus therefore having been weary from the journeying, was sitting thus on the well; it was as it were the sixth hour;

⁶ Yno yr oedd ffynnon Jacob, a chan fod Iesu wedi blino ar �l ei daith eisteddodd i lawr wrth y ffynnon. Yr oedd hi tua hanner dydd.

⁷there cometh a woman out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, `Give me to drink;`

⁷ Dyma wraig o Samaria yn dod yno i dynnu du373?r. Meddai Iesu wrthi, "Rho i mi beth i'w yfed."

⁸for his disciples were gone away to the city, that they may buy victuals;

⁸ Yr oedd ei ddisgyblion wedi mynd i'r dref i brynu bwyd.

⁹the Samaritan woman therefore saith to him, `How dost thou, being a Jew, ask drink from me, being a Samaritan woman?` for Jews have no dealing with Samaritans.

⁹ A dyma'r wraig o Samaria yn dweud wrtho, "Sut yr wyt ti, a thithau'n Iddew, yn gofyn am rywbeth i'w yfed gennyf fi, a minnau'n wraig o Samaria?" (Wrth gwrs, ni bydd yr Iddewon yn rhannu'r un llestri �'r Samariaid.)

¹⁰Jesus answered and said to her, `If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.`

¹⁰ Atebodd Iesu hi, "Pe bait yn gwybod beth yw rhodd Duw, a phwy sy'n gofyn iti, 'Rho i mi beth i'w yfed', ti fyddai wedi gofyn iddo ef a byddai ef wedi rhoi i ti ddu373?r bywiol."

¹¹The woman saith to him, `Sir, thou hast not even a vessel to draw with, and the well is deep; whence, then, hast thou the living water?

¹¹ "Syr," meddai'r wraig wrtho, "nid oes gennyt ddim i dynnu du373?r, ac y mae'r pydew'n ddwfn. O ble, felly, y mae gennyt y 'du373?r bywiol' yma?

¹²Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who did give us the well, and himself out of it did drink, and his sons, and his cattle?`

¹² A wyt ti'n fwy na Jacob, ein tad ni, a roddodd y pydew inni, ac a yfodd ohono, ef ei hun a'i feibion a'i anifeiliaid?"

¹³Jesus answered and said to her, `Every one who is drinking of this water shall thirst again;

¹³ Atebodd Iesu hi, "Bydd pawb sy'n yfed o'r du373?r hwn yn profi syched eto;

¹⁴but whoever may drink of the water that I will give him, may not thirst — to the age; and the water that I will give him shall become in him a well of water, springing up to life age-during.`

¹⁴ ond pwy bynnag sy'n yfed o'r du373?r a roddaf fi iddo, ni bydd arno syched byth. Bydd y du373?r a roddaf iddo yn troi yn ffynnon o ddu373?r o'i fewn, yn ffrydio i fywyd tragwyddol."

¹⁵The woman saith unto him, `Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.`

¹⁵ "Syr," meddai'r wraig wrtho, "rho'r du373?r hwn i mi, i'm cadw rhag sychedu a dal i ddod yma i dynnu du373?r."

¹⁶Jesus saith to her, `Go, call thy husband, and come hither;`

¹⁶ Dywedodd Iesu wrthi, "Dos adref, galw dy u373?r a thyrd yn �l yma."

¹⁷the woman answered and said, `I have not a husband.` Jesus saith to her, `Well didst thou say — A husband I have not;

¹⁷ "Nid oes gennyf u373?r," atebodd y wraig. Meddai Iesu wrthi, "Dywedaist y gwir wrth ddweud, 'Nid oes gennyf u373?r.'

¹⁸for five husbands thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said truly.`

¹⁸ Oherwydd fe gefaist bump o wu375?r, ac nid gu373?r i ti yw'r dyn sydd gennyt yn awr. Yr wyt wedi dweud y gwir am hyn."

¹⁹The woman saith to him, `Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet;

¹⁹ "Syr," meddai'r wraig wrtho, "rwy'n gweld dy fod ti'n broffwyd.

²⁰our fathers in this mountain did worship, and ye — ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it behoveth to worship.`

²⁰ Yr oedd ein hynafiaid yn addoli ar y mynydd hwn. Ond yr ydych chwi'r Iddewon yn dweud mai yn Jerwsalem y mae'r man lle dylid addoli."

²¹Jesus saith to her, `Woman, believe me, that there doth come an hour, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father;

²¹ "Cred fi, wraig," meddai Iesu wrthi, "y mae amser yn dod pan na fyddwch yn addoli'r Tad nac ar y mynydd hwn nac yn Jerwsalem.

²²ye worship what ye have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews;

²² Yr ydych chwi'r Samariaid yn addoli heb wybod beth yr ydych yn ei addoli. Yr ydym ni'n gwybod beth yr ydym yn ei addoli, oherwydd oddi wrth yr Iddewon y mae iachawdwriaeth yn dod.

²³but, there cometh an hour, and it now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also doth seek such to worship him;

²³ Ond y mae amser yn dod, yn wir y mae yma eisoes, pan fydd y gwir addolwyr yn addoli'r Tad mewn ysbryd a gwirionedd, oherwydd rhai felly y mae'r Tad yn eu ceisio i fod yn addolwyr iddo.

²⁴God [is] a Spirit, and those worshipping Him, in spirit and truth it doth behove to worship.`

²⁴ Ysbryd yw Duw, a rhaid i'w addolwyr ef addoli mewn ysbryd a gwirionedd."

²⁵The woman saith to him, `I have known that Messiah doth come, who is called Christ, when that one may come, he will tell us all things;`

²⁵ Meddai'r wraig wrtho, "Mi wn fod y Meseia" (ystyr hyn yw Crist) "yn dod. Pan ddaw ef, bydd yn mynegi i ni bob peth."

²⁶Jesus saith to her, `I am [he], who am speaking to thee.`

²⁶ Dywedodd Iesu wrthi, "Myfi yw, sef yr un sy'n siarad � thi."

²⁷And upon this came his disciples, and were wondering that with a woman he was speaking, no one, however, said, `What seekest thou?` or `Why speakest thou with her?`

²⁷ Ar hyn daeth ei ddisgyblion yn �l. Yr oeddent yn synnu ei fod yn siarad � gwraig, ac eto ni ofynnodd neb, "Beth wyt ti'n ei geisio?" neu "Pam yr wyt yn siarad � hi?"

²⁸The woman then left her water-jug, and went away to the city, and saith to the men,

²⁸ Gadawodd y wraig ei hyst�n ac aeth i ffwrdd i'r dref, ac meddai wrth y bobl yno,

²⁹`Come, see a man, who told me all things — as many as I did; is this the Christ?`

²⁹ "Dewch i weld dyn a ddywedodd wrthyf bopeth yr wyf wedi ei wneud. A yw'n bosibl mai hwn yw'r Meseia?"

³⁰They went forth therefore out of the city, and were coming unto him.

³⁰ Daethant allan o'r dref a chychwyn tuag ato ef.

³¹And in the meanwhile his disciples were asking him, saying, `Rabbi, eat;`

³¹ Yn y cyfamser yr oedd y disgyblion yn ei gymell, gan ddweud, "Rabbi, cymer fwyd."

³²and he said to them, `I have food to eat that ye have not known.`

³² Dywedodd ef wrthynt, "Y mae gennyf fi fwyd i'w fwyta na wyddoch chwi ddim amdano."

³³The disciples then said one to another, `Did any one bring him anything to eat?`

³³ Ar hynny, dechreuodd y disgyblion ofyn i'w gilydd, "A oes rhywun, tybed, wedi dod � bwyd iddo?"

³⁴Jesus saith to them, `My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work;

³⁴ Meddai Iesu wrthynt, "Fy mwyd i yw gwneud ewyllys yr hwn a'm hanfonodd, a gorffen y gwaith a roddodd i mi.

³⁵do not say that it is yet four months, and the harvest cometh; lo, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and see the fields, that they are white unto harvest already.

³⁵ Oni fyddwch chwi'n dweud, 'Pedwar mis eto, ac yna daw'r cynhaeaf'? Ond dyma fi'n dweud wrthych, codwch eich llygaid ac edrychwch ar y meysydd, oherwydd y maent yn wyn ac yn barod i'w cynaeafu.

³⁶`And he who is reaping doth receive a reward, and doth gather fruit to life age-during, that both he who is sowing and he who is reaping may rejoice together;

³⁶ Eisoes y mae'r medelwr yn derbyn ei d�l ac yn casglu ffrwyth i fywyd tragwyddol, ac felly bydd yr heuwr a'r medelwr yn cydlawenhau.

³⁷for in this the saying is the true one, that one is the sower and another the reaper.

³⁷ Yn hyn o beth y mae'r dywediad yn wir: 'Y mae un yn hau ac un arall yn medi.'

³⁸I sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others laboured, and ye into their labour have entered.

³⁸ Anfonais chwi i fedi cynhaeaf nad ydych wedi llafurio amdano. Eraill sydd wedi llafurio, a chwithau wedi cerdded i mewn i'w llafur."

³⁹And from that city many believed in him, of the Samaritans, because of the word of the woman testifying, — `He told me all things — as many as I did.`

³⁹ Daeth llawer o'r Samariaid o'r dref honno i gredu yn Iesu drwy air y wraig a dystiodd: "Dywedodd wrthyf bopeth yr wyf wedi ei wneud."

⁴⁰When, then, the Samaritans came unto him, they were asking him to remain with them, and he remained there two days;

⁴⁰ Felly pan ddaeth y Samariaid hyn ato ef, gofynasant iddo aros gyda hwy; ac fe arhosodd yno am ddau ddiwrnod.

⁴¹and many more did believe because of his word,

⁴¹ A daeth llawer mwy i gredu ynddo trwy ei air ei hun.

⁴²and said to the woman — `No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world — the Christ.`

⁴² Meddent wrth y wraig, "Nid trwy'r hyn a ddywedaist ti yr ydym yn credu mwyach, oherwydd yr ydym wedi ei glywed drosom ein hunain, ac fe wyddom mai hwn yn wir yw Gwaredwr y byd."

⁴³And after the two days he went forth thence, and went away to Galilee,

⁴³ Ymhen y ddau ddiwrnod ymadawodd Iesu a mynd oddi yno i Galilea.

⁴⁴for Jesus himself testified that a prophet in his own country shall not have honour;

⁴⁴ Oherwydd Iesu ei hun a dystiodd nad oes i broffwyd anrhydedd yn ei wlad ei hun.

⁴⁵when then, he came to Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all things that he did in Jerusalem in the feast — for they also went to the feast.

⁴⁵ Pan gyrhaeddodd Galilea croesawodd y Galileaid ef, oherwydd yr oeddent hwythau wedi bod yn yr u373?yl ac wedi gweld y cwbl a wnaeth ef yn Jerwsalem yn ystod yr u373?yl.

⁴⁶Jesus came, therefore, again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine, and there was a certain courtier, whose son was ailing in Capernaum,

⁴⁶ Daeth Iesu unwaith eto i Gana Galilea, lle'r oedd wedi troi'r du373?r yn win. Yr oedd rhyw swyddog i'r brenin � mab ganddo yn glaf yng Nghapernaum.

⁴⁷he, having heard that Jesus is come out of Judea to Galilee, went away unto him, and was asking him that he may come down and may heal his son, for he was about to die.

⁴⁷ Pan glywodd hwn fod Iesu wedi dod i Galilea o Jwdea, aeth ato a gofyn iddo ddod i lawr i iach�u ei fab, oherwydd ei fod ar fin marw.

⁴⁸Jesus then said unto him, `If signs and wonders ye may not see, ye will not believe.`

⁴⁸ Dywedodd Iesu wrtho, "Heb ichwi weld arwyddion a rhyfeddodau, ni chredwch chwi byth."

⁴⁹The courtier saith unto him, `Sir, come down before my child die;`

⁴⁹ Meddai'r swyddog wrtho, "Tyrd i lawr, syr, cyn i'm plentyn farw."

⁵⁰Jesus saith to him, `Be going on; thy son doth live.` And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and was going on,

⁵⁰ "Dos adref," meddai Iesu wrtho, "y mae dy fab yn fyw." Credodd y dyn y gair a ddywedodd Iesu wrtho, a chychwynnodd ar ei daith.

⁵¹and he now going down, his servants met him, and told, saying — `Thy child doth live;`

⁵¹ Pan oedd ar ei ffordd i lawr, daeth ei weision i'w gyfarfod a dweud bod ei fachgen yn fyw.

⁵²he inquired then of them the hour in which he became better, and they said to him — `Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him;`

⁵² Holodd hwy felly am yr amser pan fu i'r bachgen droi ar wella, ac atebasant ef, "Am un o'r gloch brynhawn ddoe y gadawodd y dwymyn ef."

⁵³then the father knew that [it was] in that hour in which Jesus said to him — `Thy son doth live,` and he himself believed, and his whole house;

⁵³ Yna sylweddolodd y tad mai dyna'r union awr y dywedodd Iesu wrtho, "Y mae dy fab yn fyw." Ac fe gredodd, ef a'i deulu i gyd.

⁵⁴this again a second sign did Jesus, having come out of Judea to Galilee.

⁵⁴ Hwn felly oedd yr ail arwydd i Iesu ei wneud, wedi iddo ddod o Jwdea i Galilea.
