¹After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

¹ Ar �l hyn aeth Iesu i fyny i Jerwsalem i ddathlu un o wyliau'r Iddewon.

²and there is in Jerusalem by the sheep-[gate] a pool that is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches,

² Y mae yn Jerwsalem, wrth Borth y Defaid, bwll a elwir Bethesda yn iaith yr Iddewon, a phum cyntedd colofnog yn arwain iddo.

³in these were lying a great multitude of the ailing, blind, lame, withered, waiting for the moving of the water,

³ Yn y cynteddau hyn byddai tyrfa o gleifion yn gorwedd, yn ddeillion a chloffion a phobl wedi eu parlysu. [{cf15i wedi eu parlysu, yn disgwyl cynnwrf yn y du373?r,}]

⁴for a messenger at a set time was going down in the pool, and was troubling the water, the first then having gone in after the troubling of the water, became whole of whatever sickness he was held.

⁴ [{cf15i oherwydd byddai angel yr Arglwydd o bryd i'w gilydd yn dod i lawr i'r pwll ac yn cynhyrfu'r du373?r, ac yna byddai'r cyntaf i fynd i mewn i'r pwll ar �l i'r du373?r gael ei gynhyrfu yn cael ei iach�u o ba afiechyd bynnag oedd arno.}]

⁵and there was a certain man there being in ailment thirty and eight years,

⁵ Yn eu plith yr oedd dyn a fu'n wael ers deunaw mlynedd ar hugain.

⁶him Jesus having seen lying, and having known that he is already a long time, he saith to him, `Dost thou wish to become whole?`

⁶ Pan welodd Iesu ef yn gorwedd yno, a deall ei fod fel hyn ers amser maith, gofynnodd iddo, "A wyt ti'n dymuno cael dy wella?"

⁷The ailing man answered him, `Sir, I have no man, that, when the water may be troubled, he may put me into the pool, and while I am coming, another doth go down before me.`

⁷ Atebodd y claf ef, "Syr, nid oes gennyf neb i'm gosod yn y pwll pan ddaw cynnwrf i'r du373?r, a thra byddaf fi ar fy ffordd bydd rhywun arall yn mynd i mewn o'm blaen i."

⁸Jesus saith to him, `Rise, take up thy couch, and be walking;`

⁸ Meddai Iesu wrtho, "Cod, cymer dy fatras a cherdda."

⁹and immediately the man became whole, and he took up his couch, and was walking, and it was a sabbath on that day,

⁹ Ac ar unwaith yr oedd y dyn wedi gwella, a chymerodd ei fatras a dechrau cerdded. Yr oedd yn Saboth y dydd hwnnw.

¹⁰the Jews then said to him that hath been healed, `It is a sabbath; it is not lawful to thee to take up the couch.`

¹⁰ Dywedodd yr Iddewon felly wrth y dyn oedd wedi ei iach�u, "Y Saboth yw hi; nid yw'n gyfreithlon iti gario dy fatras."

¹¹He answered them, `He who made me whole — that one said to me, Take up thy couch, and be walking;`

¹¹ Atebodd yntau hwy, "Y dyn hwnnw a'm gwellodd a ddywedodd wrthyf, 'Cymer dy fatras a cherdda.'"

¹²they questioned him, then, `Who is the man who is saying to thee, Take up thy couch and be walking?`

¹² Gofynasant iddo, "Pwy yw'r dyn a ddywedodd wrthyt, 'Cymer dy fatras a cherdda'?"

¹³But he that was healed had not known who he is, for Jesus did move away, a multitude being in the place.

¹³ Ond nid oedd y dyn a iachawyd yn gwybod pwy oedd ef, oherwydd yr oedd Iesu wedi troi oddi yno, am fod tyrfa yn y lle.

¹⁴After these things, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, `Lo, thou hast become whole; sin no more, lest something worse may happen to thee.`

¹⁴ Maes o law daeth Iesu o hyd i'r dyn yn y deml, ac meddai wrtho, "Dyma ti wedi gwella. Paid � phechu mwyach, rhag i rywbeth gwaeth ddigwydd iti."

¹⁵The man went away, and told the Jews that it is Jesus who made him whole,

¹⁵ Aeth y dyn i ffwrdd a dywedodd wrth yr Iddewon mai Iesu oedd y dyn a'i gwellodd.

¹⁶and because of this were the Jews persecuting Jesus, and seeking to kill him, because these things he was doing on a sabbath.

¹⁶ A dyna pam y dechreuodd yr Iddewon erlid Iesu, am ei fod yn gwneud y pethau hyn ar y Saboth.

¹⁷And Jesus answered them, `My Father till now doth work, and I work;`

¹⁷ Ond atebodd Iesu hwy, "Y mae fy Nhad yn dal i weithio hyd y foment hon, ac yr wyf finnau'n gweithio hefyd."

¹⁸because of this, then, were the Jews seeking the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the sabbath, but he also called God his own Father, making himself equal to God.

¹⁸ Parodd hyn i'r Iddewon geisio'n fwy byth ei ladd ef, oherwydd nid yn unig yr oedd yn torri'r Saboth, ond yr oedd hefyd yn galw Duw yn dad iddo ef ei hun, ac yn ei wneud ei hun felly yn gydradd � Duw.

¹⁹Jesus therefore responded and said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son is not able to do anything of himself, if he may not see the Father doing anything; for whatever things He may do, these also the Son in like manner doth;

¹⁹ Felly atebodd Iesu hwy, "Yn wir, yn wir, rwy'n dweud wrthych, nid yw'r Mab yn gallu gwneud dim ohono ei hun, dim ond yr hyn y mae'n gweld y Tad yn ei wneud. Beth bynnag y mae'r Tad yn ei wneud, hyn y mae'r Mab yntau yn ei wneud yr un modd.

²⁰for the Father doth love the Son, and doth shew to him all things that He himself doth; and greater works than these He will shew him, that ye may wonder.

²⁰ Oherwydd y mae'r Tad yn caru'r Mab ac yn dangos iddo'r holl bethau y mae ef ei hun yn eu gwneud. Ac fe ddengys iddo weithredoedd mwy na'r rhain, i beri i chwi ryfeddu.

²¹`For, as the Father doth raise the dead, and doth make alive, so also the Son doth make alive whom he willeth;

²¹ Oherwydd fel y mae'r Tad yn codi'r meirw ac yn rhoi bywyd iddynt, felly hefyd y mae'r Mab yntau yn rhoi bywyd i'r sawl a fyn.

²²for neither doth the Father judge any one, but all the judgment He hath given to the Son,

²² Nid yw'r Tad chwaith yn barnu neb, ond y mae wedi rhoi pob hawl i farnu i'r Mab,

²³that all may honour the Son according as they honour the Father; he who is not honouring the Son, doth not honour the Father who sent him.

²³ er mwyn i bawb roi i'r Mab yr un parch ag a r�nt i'r Tad. O beidio � pharchu'r Mab, y mae rhywun yn peidio � pharchu'r Tad a'i hanfonodd ef.

²⁴`Verily, verily, I say to you — He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life age-during, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life.

²⁴ Yn wir, yn wir, rwy'n dweud wrthych fod y sawl sy'n gwrando ar fy ngair i, ac yn credu'r hwn a'm hanfonodd i, yn meddu ar fywyd tragwyddol. Nid yw'n dod dan gondemniad; i'r gwrthwyneb, y mae wedi croesi o farwolaeth i fywyd.

²⁵`Verily, verily, I say to you — There cometh an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live;

²⁵ Yn wir, yn wir, rwy'n dweud wrthych fod amser yn dod, yn wir y mae yma eisoes, pan fydd y meirw yn clywed llais Mab Duw, a'r rhai sy'n clywed yn cael bywyd.

²⁶for, as the Father hath life in himself, so He gave also to the Son to have life in himself,

²⁶ Oherwydd fel y mae gan y Tad fywyd ynddo ef ei hun, felly hefyd rhoddodd i'r Mab gael bywyd ynddo ef ei hun.

²⁷and authority He gave him also to do judgment, because he is Son of Man.

²⁷ Rhoddodd iddo hefyd awdurdod i weinyddu barn, am mai Mab y Dyn yw ef.

²⁸`Wonder not at this, because there doth come an hour in which all those in the tombs shall hear his voice,

²⁸ Peidiwch � rhyfeddu at hyn, oherwydd y mae amser yn dod pan fydd pawb sydd yn eu beddau yn clywed ei lais ef

²⁹and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again of life, and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of judgment.

²⁹ ac yn dod allan; bydd y rhai a wnaeth ddaioni yn codi i fywyd, a'r rhai a wnaeth ddrygioni yn codi i gael eu barnu.

³⁰`I am not able of myself to do anything; according as I hear I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.

³⁰ "Nid wyf fi'n gallu gwneud dim ohonof fy hun. Fel yr wyf yn clywed, felly yr wyf yn barnu, ac y mae fy marn i yn gyfiawn, oherwydd nid fy ewyllys i fy hun yr wyf yn ei cheisio, ond ewyllys yr hwn a'm hanfonodd i.

³¹`If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true;

³¹ "Os wyf fi'n tystiolaethu amdanaf fy hun, nid yw fy nhystiolaeth yn wir.

³²another there is who is testifying concerning me, and I have known that the testimony that he doth testify concerning me is true;

³² Y mae un arall sydd yn tystiolaethu amdanaf fi, ac mi wn mai gwir yw'r dystiolaeth y mae ef yn ei thystio amdanaf.

³³ye have sent unto John, and he hath testified to the truth.

³³ Yr ydych chwi wedi anfon at Ioan, ac y mae gennych dystiolaeth ganddo ef i'r gwirionedd.

³⁴`But I do not receive testimony from man, but these things I say that ye may be saved;

³⁴ Nid dynol yw'r dystiolaeth amdanaf, ond rwy'n dweud hyn er mwyn i chwi gael eich achub:

³⁵he was the burning and shining lamp, and ye did will to be glad, for an hour, in his light.

³⁵ Cannwyll oedd Ioan, yn llosgi ac yn llewyrchu, a buoch chwi'n fodlon gorfoleddu dros dro yn ei oleuni ef.

³⁶`But I have the testimony greater than John`s, for the works that the Father gave me, that I might finish them, the works themselves that I do, they testify concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.

³⁶ Ond y mae gennyf fi dystiolaeth fwy na'r eiddo Ioan, oherwydd y gweithredoedd a roes y Tad i mi i'w cyflawni, yr union weithredoedd yr wyf yn eu gwneud, y rhain sy'n tystiolaethu amdanaf fi mai'r Tad sydd wedi fy anfon.

³⁷`And the Father who sent me Himself hath testified concerning me; ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor His appearance have ye seen;

³⁷ A'r Tad a'm hanfonodd i, y mae ef ei hun wedi tystiolaethu amdanaf fi. Nid ydych chwi erioed wedi clywed ei lais na gweld ei wedd,

³⁸and His word ye have not remaining in you, because whom He sent, him ye do not believe.

³⁸ ac nid oes gennych mo'i air ef yn aros ynoch, oherwydd nid ydych chwi'n credu'r hwn a anfonodd ef.

³⁹`Ye search the Writings, because ye think in them to have life age-during, and these are they that are testifying concerning me;

³⁹ Yr ydych yn chwilio'r Ysgrythurau oherwydd tybio yr ydych fod ichwi fywyd tragwyddol ynddynt hwy. Ond tystiolaethu amdanaf fi y mae'r rhain;

⁴⁰and ye do not will to come unto me, that ye may have life;

⁴⁰ eto ni fynnwch ddod ataf fi i gael bywyd.

⁴¹glory from man I do not receive,

⁴¹ "Y clod yr wyf fi'n ei dderbyn, nid clod dynol mohono.

⁴²but I have known you, that the love of God ye have not in yourselves.

⁴² Ond mi wn i amdanoch chwi, nad oes gennych ddim cariad tuag at Dduw ynoch eich hunain.

⁴³`I have come in the name of my Father, and ye do not receive me; if another may come in his own name, him ye will receive;

⁴³ Yr wyf fi wedi dod yn enw fy Nhad, ac nid ydych yn fy nerbyn i; os daw rhywun arall yn ei enw ei hun, fe dderbyniwch hwnnw.

⁴⁴how are ye able — ye — to believe, glory from one another receiving, and the glory that [is] from God alone ye seek not?

⁴⁴ Sut y gallwch gredu, a chwithau yn derbyn clod gan eich gilydd a heb geisio'r clod sydd gan yr unig Dduw i'w roi?

⁴⁵`Do not think that I will accuse you unto the Father; there is who is accusing you, Moses — in whom ye have hoped;

⁴⁵ Peidiwch � meddwl mai myfi fydd yn dwyn cyhuddiad yn eich erbyn gerbron y Tad. Moses yw'r un sydd yn eich cyhuddo, hwnnw yr ydych chwi wedi rhoi eich gobaith arno.

⁴⁶for if ye were believing Moses, ye would have been believing me, for he wrote concerning me;

⁴⁶ Pe baech yn credu Moses byddech yn fy nghredu i, oherwydd amdanaf fi yr ysgrifennodd ef.

⁴⁷but if his writings ye believe not, how shall ye believe my sayings?`

⁴⁷ Ond os nad ydych yn credu'r hyn a ysgrifennodd ef, sut yr ydych i gredu'r hyn yr wyf fi'n ei ddweud?"
