1And Job answereth and saith: —
1Siis rääkis Iiob ja ütles:
2What — thou hast helped the powerless, Saved an arm not strong!
2'Kuidas sa küll oled aidanud rammetut, toetanud jõuetut käsivart!
3What — thou hast given counsel to the unwise, And wise plans in abundance made known.
3Kuidas sa küll oled rumalale nõu andnud ja suurt tarkust õpetanud!
4With whom hast thou declared words? And whose breath came forth from thee?
4Kelle abiga sa oled pidanud kõnesid ja kelle vaim on sinust välja tulnud?
5The Rephaim are formed, Beneath the waters, also their inhabitants.
5Surnute vaimud all värisevad, hirmu täis on veed ja nende elanikud.
6Naked [is] Sheol over-against Him, And there is no covering to destruction.
6Paljas on surmavald Jumala ees ja kadupaigal pole katet.
7Stretching out the north over desolation, Hanging the earth upon nothing,
7Ta laotab põhjakaare tühjuse üle ja riputab maa eimillegi kohale.
8Binding up the waters in His thick clouds, And the cloud is not rent under them.
8Ta seob veed oma pilvedesse ja pilv ei rebenegi nende raskuse all.
9Taking hold of the face of the throne, Spreading over it His cloud.
9Ta peidab oma aujärje, laotab selle üle oma pilve.
10A limit He hath placed on the waters, Unto the boundary of light with darkness.
10Ta joonistab vetepinnale sõõri kuni valguse ja pimeduse piirini.
11Pillars of the heavens do tremble, And they wonder because of His rebuke.
11Taeva sambad kõiguvad ja kohkuvad tema sõitlusest.
12By His power He hath quieted the sea, And by His understanding smitten the proud.
12Oma rammuga liigutab ta merd ja oma taibukuses peksab ta Rahabit.
13By His Spirit the heavens He beautified, Formed hath His hand the fleeing serpent.
13Tema hingusest selgib taevas, tema käsi torkab läbi põgeneva mao.
14Lo, these [are] the borders of His way, And how little a matter is heard of Him, And the thunder of His might Who doth understand?
14Vaata, need on ainult tema tee ääred. Ja see on siiski ainult sosin, mida me temast kuuleme. Aga tema vägevuse äikest - kes seda suudaks mõista?'
