1Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:
1യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായി ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെ സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങള്.
2For knowing wisdom and instruction, For understanding sayings of intelligence,
2ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും പ്രാപിപ്പാനും വിവേകവചനങ്ങളെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും
3For receiving the instruction of wisdom, Righteousness, judgment, and uprightness,
3പരിജ്ഞാനം, നീതി, ന്യായം, നേര് എന്നിവെക്കായി പ്രബോധനം ലഭിപ്പാനും
4For giving to simple ones — prudence, To a youth — knowledge and discretion.
4അല്പബുദ്ധികള്ക്കു സൂക്ഷ്മബുദ്ധിയും ബാലന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും നലകുവാനും
5(The wise doth hear and increaseth learning, And the intelligent doth obtain counsels.)
5ജ്ഞാനി കേട്ടിട്ടു വിദ്യാഭിവൃദ്ധിപ്രാപിപ്പാനും, ബുദ്ധിമാന് സദുപദേശം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും
6For understanding a proverb and its sweetness, Words of the wise and their acute sayings.
6സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങളും അലങ്കാരവചനങ്ങളും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ മൊഴികളും കടങ്കഥകളും മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാനും അവ ഉതകുന്നു.
7Fear of Jehovah [is] a beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and instruction fools have despised!
7യഹോവാഭക്തി ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭമാകുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും നിരസിക്കുന്നു.
8Hear, my son, the instruction of thy father, And leave not the law of thy mother,
8മകനേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേള്ക്ക. അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു;
9For a graceful wreath [are] they to thy head, And chains to thy neck.
9അവ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്നു അലങ്കാരമാലയും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു സരപ്പളിയും ആയിരിക്കും.
10My son, if sinners entice thee be not willing.
10മകനേ, പാപികള് നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചാല് വഴിപ്പെട്ടുപോകരുതു.
11If they say, `Come with us, we lay wait for blood, We watch secretly for the innocent without cause,
11ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരിക; നാം രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്ക; നിര്ദ്ദോഷിയെ കാരണം കൂടാതെ പിടിപ്പാന് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്ക.
12We swallow them as Sheol — alive, And whole — as those going down [to] the pit,
12പാതാളംപോലെ അവരെ ജീവനോടെയും കുഴിയില് ഇറങ്ങുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ സര്വ്വാംഗമായും വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളക.
13Every precious substance we find, We fill our houses [with] spoil,
13നമുക്കു വലിയേറിയ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും കിട്ടും; നമ്മുടെ വീടുകളെ കൊള്ളകൊണ്ടു നിറെക്കാം.
14Thy lot thou dost cast among us, One purse is — to all of us.`
14നിനക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സമാംശം കിട്ടും; നമുക്കു എല്ലാവര്ക്കും സഞ്ചി ഒന്നായിരിക്കും; എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവര് പറഞ്ഞാല്;
15My son! go not in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path,
15മകനേ, നീ അവരുടെ വഴിക്കു പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ കാല് അവരുടെ പാതയില് വെക്കയുമരുതു.
16For their feet to evil do run, And they haste to shed blood.
16അവരുടെ കാല് ദോഷം ചെയ്വാന് ഔടുന്നു; രക്തം ചൊരിയിപ്പാന് അവര് ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു.
17Surely in vain is the net spread out before the eyes of any bird.
17പക്ഷി കാണ്കെ വലവിരിക്കുന്നതു വ്യര്ത്ഥമല്ലോ.
18And they for their own blood lay wait, They watch secretly for their own lives.
18അവര് സ്വന്ത രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വന്തപ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
19So [are] the paths of every gainer of dishonest gain, The life of its owners it taketh.
19ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായ ഏവരുടെയും വഴികള് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അതു അവരുടെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.
20Wisdom in an out-place crieth aloud, In broad places she giveth forth her voice,
20ജ്ഞാനമായവള് വീഥിയില് ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സ്വരം കേള്പ്പിക്കുന്നു.
21At the head of the multitudes she calleth, In the openings of the gates, In the city her sayings she saith:
21അവള് ആരവമുള്ള തെരുക്കളുടെ തലെക്കല് നിന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; നഗരദ്വാരങ്ങളിലും നഗരത്തിന്നകത്തും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു
22`Till when, ye simple, do ye love simplicity? And have scorners their scorning desired? And do fools hate knowledge?
22ബുദ്ധിഹീനരേ, നിങ്ങള് ബുദ്ധീഹിനതയില് രസിക്കയും പരിഹാസികളേ, നിങ്ങള് പരിഹാസത്തില് സന്തോഷിക്കയും ഭോഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എത്രത്തോളം?
23Turn back at my reproof, lo, I pour forth to you my spirit, I make known my words with you.
23എന്റെ ശാസനെക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് ; ഞാന് എന്റെ മനസ്സു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പൊഴിച്ചു തരും; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും.
24Because I have called, and ye refuse, I stretched out my hand, and none is attending,
24ഞാന് വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങള് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെയും ഞാന് കൈ നീട്ടീട്ടു ആരും കൂട്ടാക്കാതെയും
25And ye slight all my counsel, And my reproof ye have not desired.
25നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ആലോചന ഒക്കെയും ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും എന്റെ ശാസനയെ ഒട്ടും അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു
26I also in your calamity do laugh, I deride when your fear cometh,
26ഞാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ചിരിക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭവിക്കുമ്പോള് പരിഹസിക്കും.
27When your fear cometh as destruction, And your calamity as a hurricane doth come, When on you come adversity and distress.
27നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആപത്തു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെയും വരുമ്പോള്, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വരുമ്പോള് തന്നേ.
28Then they call me, and I do not answer, They seek me earnestly, and find me not.
28അപ്പോള് അവര് എന്നെ വിളിക്കും; ഞാന് ഉത്തരം പറകയില്ല. എന്നെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല.
29Because that they have hated knowledge, And the fear of Jehovah have not chosen.
29അവര് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുത്തല്ലോ; യഹോവാഭക്തിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.
30They have not consented to my counsel, They have despised all my reproof,
30അവര് എന്റെ ആലോചന അനുസരിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ശാസന ഒക്കെയും നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു
31And they eat of the fruit of their way, And from their own counsels they are filled.
31അവര് സ്വന്തവഴിയുടെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ ആലോചനകളാല് തൃപ്തി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
32For the turning of the simple slayeth them, And the security of the foolish destroyeth them.
32ബുദ്ധിഹീനരുടെ പിന്മാറ്റം അവരെ കൊല്ലും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ നിശ്ചിന്ത അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.
33And whoso is hearkening to me dwelleth confidently, And [is] quiet from fear of evil!`
33എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നവനോ നിര്ഭയം വസിക്കയും ദോഷഭയം കൂടാതെ സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
