1My son, if thou dost accept my sayings, And my commands dost lay up with thee,
1മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു ചെവികൊടുക്കയും ബോധത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ചായിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു
2To cause thine ear to attend to wisdom, Thou inclinest thy heart to understanding,
2എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചാല്,
3For, if for intelligence thou callest, For understanding givest forth thy voice,
3നീ ബോധത്തിന്നായി വിളിച്ചു വിവേകത്തിന്നായി ശബ്ദം ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു എങ്കില്,
4If thou dost seek her as silver, And as hid treasures searchest for her,
4അതിനെ വെള്ളിയെപ്പോലെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തിരയുന്നു എങ്കില്,
5Then understandest thou fear of Jehovah, And knowledge of God thou findest.
5നീ യഹോവാഭക്തി ഗ്രഹിക്കയും ദൈവപരിജ്ഞാനം കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.
6For Jehovah giveth wisdom, From His mouth knowledge and understanding.
6യഹോവയല്ലോ ജ്ഞാനം നലകുന്നതു; അവന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും വരുന്നു.
7Even to lay up for the upright substance, A shield for those walking uprightly.
7അവന് നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും രക്ഷ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നുനഷ്കളങ്കമായി നടക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും അവന് ഒരു പരിച തന്നേ.
8To keep the paths of judgment, And the way of His saints He preserveth.
8അവന് ന്യായത്തിന്റെ പാതകളെ കാക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ വഴിയെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
9Then understandest thou righteousness, And judgment, and uprightness — every good path.
9അങ്ങനെ നീ നീതിയും ന്യായവും നേരും സകലസന്മാര്ഗ്ഗവും ഗ്രഹിക്കും.
10For wisdom cometh into thy heart, And knowledge to thy soul is pleasant,
10ജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പ്രവേശിക്കും; പരിജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കും.
11Thoughtfulness doth watch over thee, Understanding doth keep thee,
11വകതിരിവു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; വിവേകം നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും.
12To deliver thee from an evil way, From any speaking froward things,
12അതു നിന്നെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വഴിയില്നിന്നും വികടം പറയുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.
13Who are forsaking paths of uprightness, To walk in ways of darkness,
13അവര് ഇരുട്ടുള്ള വഴികളില് നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നേരെയുള്ള പാത വിട്ടുകളകയും
14Who are rejoicing to do evil, They delight in frowardness of the wicked,
14ദോഷപ്രവൃത്തിയില് സന്തോഷിക്കയും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വികടങ്ങളില് ആനന്ദിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
15Whose paths [are] crooked, Yea, they are perverted in their ways.
15അവര് വളഞ്ഞവഴിക്കു പോകുന്നവരും ചൊവ്വല്ലാത്ത പാതയില് നടക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു.
16To deliver thee from the strange woman, From the stranger who hath made smooth her sayings,
16അതു നിന്നെ പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും ചക്കരവാക്കു പറയുന്ന അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശത്തുനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.
17Who is forsaking the guide of her youth, And the covenant of her God hath forgotten.
17അവള് തന്റെ യൌവനകാന്തനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
18For her house hath inclined unto death, And unto Rephaim her paths.
18അവളുടെ വീടു മരണത്തിലേക്കും അവളുടെ പാതകള് പ്രേതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
19None going in unto her turn back, Nor do they reach the paths of life.
19അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല; ജീവന്റെ പാതകളെ പ്രാപിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.
20That thou dost go in the way of the good, And the paths of the righteous dost keep.
20അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ സജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ക.
21For the upright do inhabit the earth, And the perfect are left in it,
21നേരുള്ളവര് ദേശത്തു വസിക്കും; നിഷ്കളങ്കന്മാര് അതില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കും.
22And the wicked from the earth are cut off, And treacherous dealers plucked out of it!
22എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും; ദ്രോഹികള് അതില്നിന്നു നിര്മ്മൂലമാകും.
