1My son! my law forget not, And my commands let thy heart keep,
1മകനേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം മറക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.
2For length of days and years, Life and peace they do add to thee.
2അവ ദീര്ഘായുസ്സും ജീവകാലവും സമാധാനവും നിനക്കു വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചുതരും.
3Let not kindness and truth forsake thee, Bind them on thy neck, Write them on the tablet of thy heart,
3ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകരുതു; അവയെ നിന്റെ കഴുത്തില് കെട്ടിക്കൊള്ക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പലകയില് എഴുതിക്കൊള്ക.
4And find grace and good understanding In the eyes of God and man.
4അങ്ങനെ നീ ദൈവത്തിന്നും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ബോദ്ധ്യമായ ലാവണ്യവും സല്ബുദ്ധിയും പ്രാപിക്കും.
5Trust unto Jehovah with all thy heart, And unto thine own understanding lean not.
5പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിക്ക; സ്വന്ത വിവേകത്തില് ഊന്നരുതു.
6In all thy ways know thou Him, And He doth make straight thy paths.
6നിന്റെ എല്ലാവഴികളിലും അവനെ നിനെച്ചുകൊള്ക; അവന് നിന്റെ പാതകളെ നേരെയാക്കും;
7Be not wise in thine own eyes, Fear Jehovah, and turn aside from evil.
7നിനക്കു തന്നേ നീ ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തോന്നരുതു; യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ദോഷം വിട്ടുമാറുക.
8Healing it is to thy navel, And moistening to thy bones.
8അതു നിന്റെ നാഭിക്കു ആരോഗ്യവും അസ്ഥികള്ക്കു തണുപ്പും ആയിരിക്കും.
9Honour Jehovah from thy substance, And from the beginning of all thine increase;
9യഹോവയെ നിന്റെ ധനംകൊണ്ടും എല്ലാവിളവിന്റെയും ആദ്യഫലംകൊണ്ടും ബഹുമാനിക്ക.
10And filled are thy barns [with] plenty, And [with] new wine thy presses break forth.
10അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ കളപ്പുരകള് സമൃദ്ധിയായി നിറയും; നിന്റെ ചക്കുകളില് വീഞ്ഞു കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകും.
11Chastisement of Jehovah, my son, despise not, And be not vexed with His reproof,
11മകനേ, യഹോവയുടെ ശിക്ഷയെ നിരസിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ ശാസനയിങ്കല് മുഷികയും അരുതു.
12For whom Jehovah loveth He reproveth, Even as a father the son He is pleased with.
12അപ്പന് ഇഷ്ടപുത്രനോടു ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ യഹോവ താന് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
13O the happiness of a man [who] hath found wisdom, And of a man [who] bringeth forth understanding.
13ജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യനും വിവേകം ലഭിക്കുന്ന നരനും ഭാഗ്യവാന് .
14For better [is] her merchandise Than the merchandise of silver, And than gold — her increase.
14അതിന്റെ സമ്പാദനം വെള്ളിയുടെ സമ്പാദനത്തിലും അതിന്റെ ലാഭം തങ്കത്തിലും നല്ലതു.
15Precious she [is] above rubies, And all thy pleasures are not comparable to her.
15അതു മുത്തുകളിലും വിലയേറിയതു; നിന്റെ മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കള് ഒന്നും അതിന്നു തുല്യമാകയില്ല.
16Length of days [is] in her right hand, In her left [are] wealth and honour.
16അതിന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യില് ദീര്ഘായുസ്സും ഇടങ്കയ്യില് ധനവും മാനവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
17Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, And all her paths [are] peace.
17അതിന്റെ വഴികള് ഇമ്പമുള്ള വഴികളും അതിന്റെ പാതകളെല്ലാം സമാധാനവും ആകുന്നു.
18A tree of life she [is] to those laying hold on her, And whoso is retaining her [is] happy.
18അതിനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നവര്ക്കും അതു ജീവ വൃക്ഷം; അതിനെ കരസ്ഥമാക്കുന്നവര് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.
19Jehovah by wisdom did found the earth, He prepared the heavens by understanding.
19ജ്ഞാനത്താല് യഹോവ ഭൂമിയെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; വിവേകത്താല് അവന് ആകാശത്തെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
20By His knowledge depths have been rent, And clouds do drop dew.
20അവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്താല് ആഴങ്ങള് പിളര്ന്നു; മേഘങ്ങള് മഞ്ഞു പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.
21My son! let them not turn from thine eyes, Keep thou wisdom and thoughtfulness,
21മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും കാത്തുകൊള്ക; അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു.
22And they are life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
22അവ നിനക്കു ജീവനും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു അലങ്കാരവും ആയിരിക്കും.
23Then thou goest thy way confidently, And thy foot doth not stumble.
23അങ്ങനെ നീ നിര്ഭയമായി വഴിയില് നടക്കും; നിന്റെ കാല് ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.
24If thou liest down, thou art not afraid, Yea, thou hast lain down, And sweet hath been thy sleep.
24നീ കിടപ്പാന് പോകുമ്പോള് നിനക്കു പേടി ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; കിടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഉറക്കം സുഖകരമായിരിക്കും.
25Be not afraid of sudden fear, And of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh.
25പെട്ടെന്നുള്ള പേടി ഹേതുവായും ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വരുന്ന നാശംനിമിത്തവും നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.
26For Jehovah is at thy side, And He hath kept thy foot from capture.
26യഹോവ നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായിരിക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ കാല് കുടുങ്ങാതവണ്ണം കാക്കും.
27Withhold not good from its owners, When thy hand [is] toward God to do [it].
27നന്മ ചെയ്വാന് നിനക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ളപ്പോള് അതിന്നു യോഗ്യന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കരുതു.
28Say not thou to thy friend, `Go, and return, and to-morrow I give,` And substance with thee.
28നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഉള്ളപ്പോള് കൂട്ടുകാരനോടുപോയിവരിക, നാളെത്തരാം എന്നു പറയരുതു.
29Devise not against thy neighbour evil, And he sitting confidently with thee.
29കൂട്ടുകാരന് സമീപേ നിര്ഭയം വസിക്കുമ്പോള്, അവന്റെ നേരെ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കരുതു.
30Strive not with a man without cause, If he have not done thee evil.
30നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യാത്ത മനുഷ്യനോടു നീ വെറുതെ ശണ്ഠയിടരുതു.
31Be not envious of a man of violence, Nor fix thou on any of his ways.
31സാഹസക്കാരനോടു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; അവന്റെ വഴികള് ഒന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കയുമരുതു.
32For an abomination to Jehovah [is] the perverted, And with the upright [is] His secret counsel.
32വക്രതയുള്ളവന് യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കോ അവന്റെ സഖ്യത ഉണ്ടു.
33The curse of Jehovah [is] in the house of the wicked. And the habitation of the righteous He blesseth.
33യഹോവയുടെ ശാപം ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഉണ്ടു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തെയോ അവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
34If the scorners He doth scorn, Yet to the humble He doth give grace.
34പരിഹാസികളെ അവന് പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവക്കോ അവന് കൃപ നലകുന്നു.
35Honour do the wise inherit, And fools are bearing away shame!
35ജ്ഞാനികള് ബഹുമാനത്തെ അവകാശമാക്കും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഉയര്ച്ചയോ അപമാനം തന്നേ.
