1Hear, ye sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.
1മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് .
2For good learning I have given to you, My law forsake not.
2ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സല്ബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങള് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.
3For, a son I have been to my father — tender, And an only one before my mother.
3ഞാന് എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഔമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;
4And he directeth me, and he saith to me: `Let thy heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.
4അവന് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.
5Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.
5ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കവിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.
6Forsake her not, and she doth preserve thee, Love her, and she doth keep thee.
6അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതില് പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;
7The first thing [is] wisdom — get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding.
7ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.
8Exalt her, and she doth lift thee up, She honoureth thee, when thou dost embrace her.
8അതിനെ ഉയര്ത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയര്ത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താല് അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.
9She giveth to thy head a wreath of grace, A crown of beauty she doth give thee freely.
9അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.
10Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life [are] multiplied to thee.
10മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ക; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.
11In a way of wisdom I have directed thee, I have caused thee to tread in paths of uprightness.
11ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗം ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുനേരെയുള്ള പാതയില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.
12In thy walking thy step is not straitened, And if thou runnest, thou stumblest not.
12നടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഔടുമ്പോള് നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.
13Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she [is] thy life.
13പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.
14Into the path of the wicked enter not, And be not happy in a way of evil doers.
14ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയില് നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു;
15Avoid it, pass not over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.
15അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്ക്ക; അതില് നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.
16For they sleep not if they do not evil, And their sleep hath been taken violently away, If they cause not [some] to stumble.
16അവര് ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവര്ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.
17For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And wine of violence they drink.
17ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവന് പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
18And the path of the righteous [is] as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established,
18നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.
19The way of the wicked [is] as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.
19ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കല് തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവര് അറിയുന്നില്ല.
20My son, to my words give attention, To my sayings incline thine ear,
20മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്ക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികള്ക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.
21Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart.
21അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.
22For life they [are] to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing.
22അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവര്ക്കും അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സര്വ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.
23Above every charge keep thy heart, For out of it [are] the outgoings of life.
23സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതില്നിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.
24Turn aside from thee a froward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee,
24വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കല്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കല്നിന്നകറ്റുക.
25Thine eyes do look straightforward, And thine eyelids look straight before thee.
25നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.
26Ponder thou the path of thy feet, And all thy ways [are] established.
26നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
27Incline not [to] the right or to the left, Turn aside thy foot from evil!
27ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.
