1And it cometh to pass, after these things, a vineyard hath been to Naboth the Jezreelite, that [is] in Jezreel, near the palace of Ahab king of Samaria,
1अहाब राजाचा राजवाडा शोमरोनमध्ये होता. त्याच्या महलाशेजारी एक द्राक्षाचा मळा होता. तो नाबोथ नावाच्या माणसाचा होता. नाबोथचा द्राक्षमळा
2and Ahab speaketh unto Naboth, saying, `Give to me thy vineyard, and it is to me for a garden of green herbs, for it [is] near by my house, and I give to thee in its stead a better vineyard than it; if good in thine eyes, I give to thee silver — its price.`
2एकदा अहाब नाबोथला म्हणाला, “तुझा मळा मला दे. तिथे मला भाजीचा मळा करायचा आहे. तुझा मळा माझ्या महालाला लागूनच आहे. त्याच्या ऐवजी मी तुला आणखी चांगला द्राक्षमळा देईन. किंवा तुला हवे असेल तर याचा मोबदला मी पैशात देईन.”
3And Naboth saith unto Ahab, `Far be it from me, by Jehovah, my giving the inheritance of my fathers to thee;`
3नाबोथ म्हणाला, “माझी जमीन मी देणार नाही. ती माझ्या कुटुंबाचे वतन आहे.”
4and Ahab cometh in unto his house, sulky and wroth, because of the word that Naboth the Jezreelite hath spoken unto him when he saith, `I do not give to thee the inheritance of my fathers,` and he lieth down on his bed, and turneth round his face, and hath not eaten bread.
4तेव्हा अहाब घरी परतला. पण तो नाबोथवर रागावलेला होता. ईज्रेलचा हा माणूस जे बोलला ते त्याला आवडले नाही. (नाबोथ म्हणाला होता, “माझ्या कुटुंबाची जमीन मी तुम्हाला देणार नाहीं.) अहाब अंथरुणावर पडला त्याने तोंड फिरवून घेतले आणि अन्नपाणी नाकराले.
5And Jezebel his wife cometh in unto him, and speaketh unto him, `What [is] this? — thy spirit sulky, and thou art not eating bread!`
5अहाबची पत्नी ईजबेल त्याच्याजवळ गेली.” त्याला म्हणाली, “तुम्ही असे खिन्र का? तुम्ही जेवत का नाही?”
6And he saith unto her, `Because I speak unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and say to him, Give to me thy vineyard for money, or if thou desire, I give to thee a vineyard in its stead; and he saith, I do not give to thee my vineyard.`
6अहाब म्हणाला, “इज्रेल येथल्या मी त्याचा मळा मला द्यायला सांगितला. त्याची पूर्ण किंमत मी मोजायला तयार आहे किंवा हवे तर दुसरी जमीन द्यायला तयार आहे हे ही मी त्याला सांगितले. पण नाबोथ त्याचा मळा द्यायला कबूल होत नाही.”
7And Jezebel his wife saith unto him, `Thou now dost execute rule over Israel! rise, eat bread, and let thy heart be glad, — I do give to thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.`
7ईजबेल त्याला म्हणाली, “पण तुम्ही तर इस्राएलचे राजे आहात. उठा, काही तरी खा म्हणजे तुम्हाला बरे वाटेल. त्याचा मळा मी आपल्याला मिळवून देईन.”
8And she writeth letters in the name of Ahab, and sealeth with his seal, and sendeth the letters unto the elders, and unto the freemen, who are in his city, those dwelling with Naboth,
8ईजबेलने मग काही पत्रे लिहिली. पत्रांवर तिने अहाबची सही केली. अहाबचा शिक्का वापरुन पत्रांवर तो शिकृा उमटवला. मग तिने ही पत्रे नाबोथाच्या गावच्या वडीलधाऱ्या मंडळींना आणि थोरामोठ्यांना पाठवली.
9and she writeth in the letters, saying, `Proclaim a fast, and cause Naboth to sit at the head of the people,
9पत्रातला मजकूर असा होता: “एक दिवस उपवासाची घोषणा करा. मग गावातल्या लोकांना एकत्र बोलवा. तिथे नाबोथविषयी बोलणे होईल.
10and cause two men — sons of worthlessness — to sit over-against him, and they testify of him, saying, Thou hast blessed God and Melech; and they have brought him out, and stoned him, and he dieth.`
10नाबोथबद्दल खोट्या गोष्टी सांगणारी काही माणसे जमवा. नाबोथ राजाविरुध्द आणि देवाविरुध्द बोलला, हे आम्ही ऐकले, असे त्या माणसांनी म्हणावे. एवढे झाल्यावर नाबोथला गावाबाहेर घालवून दगडांनी ठेचून मारा.”
11And the men of his city, the elders and the freemen who are dwelling in his city, do as Jezebel hath sent unto them, as written in the letters that she sent unto them,
11इज्रेलमधल्या वयाने आणि मानाने वडिलधाऱ्या (पुढ्याऱ्यांनी) अशा मंडळींनी ही आज्ञा मानली.
12they have proclaimed a fast, and caused Naboth to sit at the head of the people,
12त्यांनी उपवासाचा म्हणून एक दिवस घोषित केला. त्या दिवशी सर्व लोकांना सभेत बोलावले. नाबोथला सर्वांसमोर खास आसनावर बसवले.
13and two men — sons of worthlessness — come in, and sit over-against him, and the men of worthlessness testify of him, even Naboth, before the people, saying, `Naboth blessed God and Melech;` and they take him out to the outside of the city, and stone him with stones, and he dieth;
13मग, नाबोथ देवाविरुध्द आणि राजाविरुध्द बोलल्याचे आपण ऐकले आहे असे दोन माणसांनी सांगितले. तेव्हा लोकांनी नाबोथला गावाबाहेर घालवले आणि तो मरेपर्यंत त्याच्यावर दगडांचा वर्षाव केला.
14and they send unto Jezebel, saying, `Naboth was stoned, and is dead.`
14मग त्या प्रतिष्ठित माणसांनी ईजबेलकडे निरोप पाठवला. “नाबोथचा वध झाला आहे.” असा तो निरोप होता.
15And it cometh to pass, at Jezebel`s hearing that Naboth hath been stoned, and is dead, that Jezebel saith unto Ahab, `Rise, possess the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, that he refused to give to thee for money, for Naboth is not alive but dead.`
15ईजबेलने हे ऐकले तेव्हा ती अहाबला म्हणाली, “नाबोथ मेला. आता तुम्हाला हवा होता तो मळा तुम्ही जाऊन ताब्यात घेऊ शकता”
16And it cometh to pass, at Ahab`s hearing that Naboth is dead, that Ahab riseth to go down unto the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to possess it.
16यावर अहाबने तो द्राक्षमळा आपल्या ताब्यात घेतला.
17And the word of Jehovah is unto Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
17यावेळी परमेश्वर एलीयाशी बोलला. (एलीया हा तिश्बी येथील संदेष्टा) परमेश्वर म्हणाला,
18`Rise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who [is] in Samaria, — lo, in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he hath gone down to possess it,
18“शोमरोनमधल्या राजा अहाबकडे जा तो नाबोथाच्या द्राक्षमळ्यात असेल. तो त्या मळ्यावर कब्जा करायला तिथे गेला आहे.
19and thou hast spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Hast thou murdered, and also possessed? and thou hast spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Jehovah, In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, do the dogs lick thy blood, even thine.`
19अहाबला जाऊन सांग की परमेश्वर म्हणतो, ‘अहाब, नाबोथला तू मारलेस. आता त्याचा मळा घ्यायला निघालास तेव्हा आता मी सांगतो ते ऐक. नाबोथ मेला त्याच जागी तू सुध्दा मरशील ज्या कुत्र्यांनी नाबोथाचे रक्त चाटले तीच कुत्री त्याच ठिकाणी तुझे रक्त चाटतील.”
20And Ahab saith unto Elijah, `Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?` and he saith, `I have found — because of thy selling thyself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah;
20तेव्हा एलीया अहाबकडे गेला. अहाबने एलीयाला पाहिले आणि तो म्हणाला, “तुला मी पुन्हा सापडलो. तू नेहमीच माझ्याविरुध्द आहेस.” एलीया म्हणाला, “हो, तुला मी पुन्हा शोधून काढले आहे. तुझे आयुष्य तू परमेश्वराचे अपराध करण्यातच घालवलेस.
21lo, I am bringing in unto thee evil, and have taken away thy posterity, and cut off to Ahab those sitting on the wall, and restrained, and left, in Israel,
21तेव्हा परमेश्वर तुला काय सांगतो ते ऐक, ‘मी तुझा नाश करीन. मी तुला आणि तुझ्या कुटुंबातील सर्व पुरुषांना ठार करीन.
22and given up thy house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which thou hast provoked [Me], and dost cause Israel to sin.
22नबाटाचा मुलगा यराबाम याच्या कुटुंबासारखीच तुझ्या घराचीही वाताहत होईल. बाशाच्या कुटुंबासारखीच तुझी दशा होईल. या दोन्ही घराण्यांचा समूळ नाश झाला. तू माझा क्रोध जागा केलास. इस्राएल लोकांनाही पाप करायला लावलेस.’
23`And also of Jezebel hath Jehovah spoken, saying, The dogs do eat Jezebel in the bulwark of Jezreel;
23शिवाय परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, ‘तुझी बायको ईजबेल हिच्या शरीरावर इज्रेल मध्ये कुत्री तुटून पडतील.
24him who dieth of Ahab in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth in a field do fowl of the heavens eat;
24तुझ्या घरातल्या ज्याला कुणाला गावात मरण येईल त्याला कुत्री खातील आणि जो कोणी शेतात मरेल तो पक्ष्यांचे भक्ष्य होईल.”‘
25surely there hath none been like Ahab, who sold himself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife hath moved,
25अहाबने जितकी पापे केली, जितके अपराध केले तेवढे कोणीच केले नाहीत. त्याची बायको ईजबेल हिने त्याला हे सर्व करायला लावले.
26and he doth very abominably to go after the idols, according to all that the Amorite did whom Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.`
26अहाबने आणखी एक पातक केले ते म्हणजे त्या लाकडी ठोकळ्यांची, मूर्तींची पूजा केली. अमोरी लोकांनीही हेच केले तेव्हा परमेश्वराने त्यांच्याकडून हा प्रदेश काढून घेऊन इस्राएल लोकांना दिला.
27And it cometh to pass, at Ahab`s hearing these words, that he rendeth his garments, and putteth sackcloth on his flesh, and fasteth, and lieth in sackcloth, and goeth gently.
27एलीयाचे बोलून झाल्यावर अहाबला फार दु:ख झाले. दु:खाने त्याने अंगावरचे कपडे फाडले. मग विशेष शोकवस्त्रे परिधान केली. त्याने अन्नत्याग केला. त्याच कपड्यात तो झोपला. तो अतिशय दु:खी आणि खिन्न झाला होता.
28And the word of Jehovah is unto Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
28परमेश्वर एलीया संदेष्ट्याला म्हणाला,
29`Hast thou seen that Ahab hath been humbled before Me? because that he hath been humbled before Me, I bring not in the evil in his days; in the days of his son I bring in the evil on his house.`
29“अहाब माझ्यापुढे नतमस्तक झाला आहे असे दिसते. तेव्हा तो जिवंत असेपपर्यंत मी त्याला संकटात लोटणार नाही. त्याचा मुलगा राज्यावर येईपर्यंत मी थांबेन. मग त्याच्या घराला मी उपद्रव देईन.”
