1And they sit still three years, there is no war between Aram and Israel,

2and it cometh to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat king of Judah cometh down unto the king of Israel,

3and the king of Israel saith unto his servants, `Have ye not known that ours [is] Ramoth-Gilead? and we are keeping silent from taking it out of the hand of the king of Aram!`
3यावेळी अहाबने आपल्या अधिकाऱ्यांना विचारले, “अरामच्या राजाने गिलाद मधील रामोथ आपल्याकडून घेतले होते ते आठवते ना? ते परत मिळवण्यासाठी आपण काहीच का केले नाही? रामोथ आपले असायला हवे.”
4And he saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Dost thou go with me to battle [to] Ramoth-Gilead?` and Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `As I am, so thou; as my people, so thy people; as my horses, so thy horses.`
4आणि अहाब राजा यहोशाफाटला म्हणाला, “तुम्ही आमच्या बाजूने रामोथला अरामी सैन्याशी लढाल का?” यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “अवश्य माझे सैन्य आणि घोडे तुमचेच आहेत.
5And Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `Seek, I pray thee, to-day, the word of Jehovah;`
5पण प्रथम आपण परमेश्वराचा सल्ला घेतला पाहिजे.”
6and the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, about four hundred men, and saith unto them, `Do I go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?` and they say, `Go up, and the Lord doth give [it] into the hand of the king.`
6तेव्हा अहाबने संदष्ट्यांची एक सभा घेतली. तेव्हा तिथे चारशे संदेष्टे हजर होते. अहाबने त्यांना विचारले, “आपण आत्ताच रामोथ येथे अरामी फौजेवर चालून जावे का? की काही काळ थांबावे?” संदेष्टे म्हणाले, “तुम्ही खुशाल आत्ताच हल्ला करा. परमेश्वर तुम्हाला जय मिळवून देईल.”
7And Jehoshaphat saith, `Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, and we seek by him?`
7पण यहोशाफाटने शंका काढली, “परमेश्वराचा आणखी कोणी संदेष्टा यांच्या खेरीज इथे आहे का? तसा असेल तर त्यालाही देवाचे मत विचारलेले बरे.”
8And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Yet — one man to seek Jehovah by him, and I have hated him, for he doth not prophesy concerning me good, but evil — Micaiah son of Imlah;` and Jehoshaphat saith, `Let not the king say so.`
8राजा अहाब म्हणाला, “तसा आणखी एक संदेष्टा आहे. इम्ला याचा मुलगा मीखाया. पण मी त्याचा द्वेष करतो. कारण तो काही सांगतो तेव्हा माझ्याबद्दल कधीच चांगले भविष्यकथन करत नाही. त्याचे बोलणे मला अप्रिय वाटते.” यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “अहाब राजा, तुझे असे बोलणे बरोबर नव्हे.”
9And the king of Israel calleth unto a certain eunuch, and saith, `Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.`
9तेव्हा अहाब राजाने आपल्या एका सेवकाला मीखायाला घेऊन येण्यास सांगितले.
10And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, in a threshing-floor, at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them.
10यावेळी दोन्ही राजे राजवस्त्रे घालून सिंहासनावर बसले होते. शोमरोनच्या वेशीजवळ न्यायदान चालते त्या ठिकाणी ते होते. सर्व संदेष्टे त्यांच्या समोर उभे होते. त्यांचे भविष्यकथन चालेले होते.
11And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, By these thou dost push the Aramaeans till they are consumed;`
11त्यांच्यापैकी एक कनानाचा मुलगा सिद्कीया हा होता. त्याने प्रचंड शक्तीचे प्रतीक अशी लोखंडाची शिंगे केली होती. तो अहाबला म्हणाला, “‘परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे, ‘ही शिंगे तू अरामी सैन्याविरुध्द लढताना वापरावीस’ असे देवाचे म्हणणे आहे. म्हणजे तू शत्रूचा पराभव करशील, त्याचा संहार करशील.”
12and all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, `Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper, and Jehovah hath given [it] into the hand of the king.`
12सिद्कीयाचे हे म्हणणे इतर सर्वच संदेष्ट्यांना पटले. पुढे सिद्कीया म्हणाला, “आता तुझ्या सैन्याने चढाई करावी. रामोथ येथे अरामी सैन्यावर हल्ला करावा. विजय तुमचाच आहे. परमेश्वर तुम्हाला यश देईल.”
13And the messenger who hath gone to call Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, `Lo, I pray thee, the words of the prophets, with one mouth, [are] good towards the king; let it be, I pray thee, thy word as the word of one of them — and thou hast spoken good.`
13हे चाललेले असतानाच एक सेवक मीखायाच्या शोधात गेला. त्याला भेटून म्हणाला, “राजा या युध्दात विजयी होईल असे सर्वच संदेष्ट्यांचे म्हणणे आहे. तेव्हा तूही तसेच म्हणणे श्रेयस्कर ठरेल व ते सुरक्षितपणाचे होईल.”
14And Micaiah saith, `Jehovah liveth; surely that which Jehovah saith unto me — it I speak.`
14पण मीखाया म्हणाला, “नाही, कादापि नाही. जे परमेश्वर माझ्याकडून वदवतो तेच मी सांगीन. माझी तशी प्रतिज्ञाच आहे.”
15And he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, `Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead, to battle, or do we forbear?` and he saith unto him, `Go up, and prosper, and Jehovah hath given [it] into the hand of the king.`
15मीखाया मग राजाकडे आला. राजाने त्याला विचारले, “मीखाया, मी आणि राजा यहोशाफाट हातमिळवणी करु ना? रामोथला अरामच्या सैन्यावर आता चढाई करु का?” मीखाया म्हणाला, “हो तुम्ही आत्ताच ही लढाई करा. परमेश्वर तुम्हाला यश देईल.”
16And the king saith unto him, `How many times am I adjuring thee that thou speak nothing unto me but truth in the name of Jehovah?`
16पण अहाब त्याला म्हणाला, “तू हे परमेश्वराच्या शक्तीने सांगत नाहीस. आपल्या मनचे सांगतो आहेस. तेव्हा खरे काम ते सांग परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे सांग. कितीदा मी तुला तेच सांगू?”
17And he saith, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the hills as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, These have no master; they turn back each to his house in peace.`
17तेव्हा मीखायाने सांगितले, “काय होणार ते मला दिसते आहे. इस्राएलचे सैन्य डोंगरांवर इतस्तत: पसरेल. मेंढपाळ नसलेल्या मेंढरांसारखी त्यांची अवस्था होईल. परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे असे आहे, ‘यांना कोणी नेता नाही. यांनी घरी जावे. लढाईच्या भानगडीत पडू नये.”
18And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Have I not said unto thee, He doth not prophesy of me good, but evil?`
18मग अहाब यहोशाफाटला म्हणाला, “पाहा, हेच बोललो होतो ना मी! हा संदेष्टा कधीही माझ्याबद्दल चांगले भविष्यकथन करत नाही. हा नेहमी अप्रिय गोष्टीच मला ऐकवतो.”
19And he saith, `Therefore, hear a word of Jehovah; I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing by Him, on His right and on His left;
19इकडे परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे काय आहे ते मीखाया सांगतच होता. मीखाया म्हणाला, “ऐका परमेश्वर काय म्हणतो ते पाहा परमेश्वर स्वर्गात सिंहासनावर बसलेला मी पाहिला. त्याचे दूत त्याच्या शेजारी उभे आहेत.
20and Jehovah saith, Who doth entice Ahab, and he doth go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead? and this one saith thus, and that one is saying thus.
20देव म्हणाला, ‘अहाब राजाची कोणी फसगत करेल का? त्याने रामोथला अरामवर हल्ला करावा असे मला वाटते. त्यात त्याला मरण येईल.’ तेव्हा आता काय करावे याबद्दल देवदूतांमध्ये एकमत होईना.
21`And the spirit goeth out, and standeth before Jehovah, and saith, I — I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, By what?

22and he saith, I go out, and have been a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets; and He saith, Thou dost entice, and also thou art able; go out and do so.
22परमेश्वर त्याला म्हणाला, ‘तू अहाबची फसगत कशी करशील?’ यावर तो देवदूत म्हणाला, ‘मी अहाबच्या संदेष्ट्यांमध्ये गोंधळ माजवून देईन. त्यांना मी राजाशी खोटे बोलायला प्रवृत्त करीन संदेष्टे राजाला सांगतील ते खोटे असेल.’ यावर परमेश्वर म्हणाला, ‘हे चांगले झाले जा आणि अहाब राजाला या मोहात पाड तुला यश येईन.”‘
23And now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee — evil.`
23मीखायाचे सांगून झाले. मग तो म्हणाला, “तेव्हा खरी हकीकत अशी आहे. परमेश्वरानेच तुमच्या संदेष्ट्यांना खोटे बोलायला लावले आहे. तुमच्यावर मोठे संकट ओढवावे असे परमेश्वरालाच वाटते.”
24And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah draweth nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, `Where [is] this — he hath passed over — the Spirit of Jehovah — from me to speak with thee?`
24मग सिद्कीया हा संदेष्टा मीखायाजवळ गेला. मीखायाला त्याने एक थापड मारली. सिद्कीया म्हणाला, “माझ्यातली परमेश्वराची शक्ती संपली आहे आणि तो आता तुझ्या मार्फतच बोलतो आहे अशी खरेच तुझी समजूत आहे?”
25And Micaiah saith, `Lo, thou art seeing on that day, when thou goest in to the innermost chamber to be hidden.`
25मीखाया म्हणाला, “लवकरच आपत्ती येणार आहे. तेव्हा तू एका लहानशा खोलीत दडून बसशील तेव्हा माझे म्हणणे खरे असल्याचे तुझ्या लक्षात येईल.”
26And the king of Israel saith, `Take Micaiah, and turn him back unto Amon head of the city, and unto Joash son of the king,
26तेव्हा अहाब राजाने आपल्या एका सेवकाला मीखायाला पकडायचा हुकूम केला. राजा म्हणाला, “याला धरा आणि नगराधिकारी आमोन व राजपुत्र योवाश यांच्याकडे घेऊन जा.
27and thou hast said, Thus said the king, Place ye this one in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat bread of oppression, and water of oppression, till my coming in peace.`
27मीखायाला तुरुंगात घालायला त्यांना सांगा. त्याला फक्त भाकर आणि पाणी द्या. युध्दावरुन मी परत येईपर्यंत त्याला तिथेच राहू द्या.”
28And Micaiah saith, `If thou at all return in peace — Jehovah hath not spoken by me;` and he saith, `Hear, O peoples, all of them.`
28मीखाया मोठ्याने म्हणाला, “मी काय म्हणतो ते सर्व लोकहो ऐका. राजा, तू युध्दावरुन जिवंत परत आलास तर परमेश्वरमाझ्या मार्फत बोलला नाही असे खुशाल समजा.”
29And the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, to Ramoth-Gilead.
29नंतर राजा अहाब आणि राजा यहोशाफाट रामोथ येथे अरामच्या सैन्याशी लढायला गेले. गिलाद प्रांतात हे युध्द झाले.
30And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat to disguise himself, and to go into battle, `And thou, put on thy garments.` And the king of Israel disguiseth himself, and goeth into battle.
30अहाब यहोशाफाटला म्हणाला, “आपण आता युध्दाचा व्यूह रचू. मला राजा म्हणून कोणी ओळखणार नाही असे कपडे मी घालीन. पण तू मात्र राजाला शोभेल असाच पोषाख कर.” अशाप्रकारे इस्राएलच्या राजाने अगदी चारचौघांसारखे कपडे करुन युध्दाला सुरुवात केली.
31And the king of Aram commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath — thirty and two — saying, `Ye do not fight with small or with great, but with the king of Israel by himself.`
31अरामच्या राजाकडे बत्तीस रथाधिपती होते. त्या राजाने या बत्तीस जणांना इस्राएलच्या राजाचा शोध घ्यायला सांगितले. राजाला ठार करण्याबद्दल त्याने त्यांना बजावले.
32And it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they said, `He [is] only the king of Israel;` and they turn aside to him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out,
32तेव्हा युध्द चालू असताना या रथाधिपतींनी राजा यहोशाफाटला पाहिले. तोच इस्राएलचा राजा असे त्यांना वाटले. त्यामुळे त्याचा ते वध करायला निघाले. यहोशाफाट आरडाओरडा करु लागला.
33and it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that he [is] not the king of Israel, that they turn back from after him.
33हा अहाब राजा नव्हे हे त्या रथाधिपतींच्या लक्षात आल्यावर त्यांनी त्याला मारले नाही.
34And a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to his charioteer, `Turn thy hand, and take me out from the camp, for I have become sick.`
34तेव्हा एका सैनिकाने, कोणावर नेम धरुन नव्हे असा हवेतच एक बाण सोडला. हा बाण नेमका इस्राएलाचा राजा अहाब याला लागला. शरीराचा जो छोटा भाग चिलखताने झाकलेला नव्हाता तिथे बाण लागला. तेव्हा राजा अहाब आपल्या सारथ्याला म्हणाला, “मला बाण लागला आहे. रथ येथून हलव. आपण या लढाईपासून दुर जाऊ.”
35And the battle increaseth on that day, and the king hath been caused to stand in the chariot, over-against Aram, and he dieth in the evening, and the blood of the wound runneth out unto the midst of the chariot,
35युध्द मात्र चालूच राहिले. राजा अहाब आपल्या रथात बसून राहिला. रथात टेकून बसून तो अरामच्या सैन्याकडे पाहात होता. त्याला एवढा रक्तरत्राव झाला की रथाच्या बैठकीच्या भागात रक्ताचे थारोळे झाले. संध्याकाळच्या सुमारास राजाला मृत्यू आला.
36and he causeth the cry to pass over through the camp, at the going in of the sun, saying, `Each unto his city, and each unto his land.`
36सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी इस्राएलच्या सर्वसैन्याला आपापल्या प्रांतात घरोघरी जायचा आदेश मिळाला.
37And the king dieth, and cometh into Samaria, and they bury the king in Samaria;
37राजा अहाबला अशा तऱ्हेने मरण आले. काही जणांनी त्याचा देह शोमरोनला आणला. त्याला त्यांनी तिथे पुरले.
38and [one] rinseth the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs lick his blood — when the armour they had washed — according to the word of Jehovah that He spake.
38शोमरोनमधल्या तळ्यावर या लोकांनी अहाबचा रथ धुतला. रथातील रक्त कुत्र्यांनी चाटले आणि त्या तळ्यातील पाण्याने वेश्या स्नान करीत असत. परमेश्वराने जे जे होईल असे सांगितले होते तसेच नेमके घडले.
39And the rest of the matters of Ahab, and all that he did, and the house of ivory that he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
39इस्राएलच्या राजांचा इतिहास या ग्रंथात राजा अहाबच्या सर्व गोष्टींची नोंद केलेली आहे. आपला महाल सुशोभित करण्यासाठी त्याने हस्तिदंत कसे वापरले, त्याने नगरे उभारली याबद्दलही या ग्रंथात सांगितलेले आहे.
40And Ahab lieth with his fathers, and Ahaziah his son reigneth in his stead.
40अहाब मरण पावला व त्याला त्याच्या पूर्वजांशेजारी दफन करण्यात आले. त्याचा पुत्र अहज्या त्याच्या जागी राजा झाला.
41And Jehoshaphat son of Asa hath reigned over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel,
41अहाब इस्राएलचा राजा झाल्यावर चौथे वर्ष चालू असताना यहोशाफाट यहूदाचा राजा झाला. यहोशाफाट हा आसाचा मुलगा.
42Jehoshaphat [is] a son of thirty and five years in his reigning, and twenty and five years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Azubah daughter of Shilhi.
42यहोशाफाट वयाच्या पस्तिसाव्या वर्षी राजा झाला आणि यरुशलेममध्ये त्याने पंचवीस वर्षे राज्य केले. याच्या आईचे नाव अजूबा. ती शिल्हीची मुलगी.
43And he walketh in all the way of Asa his father, he hath not turned aside from it, to do that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah; only the high places have not turned aside, yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places.
43यहोशाफाट चांगला राजा होता. हा आपल्या वडीलांप्रमाणेच होता. परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने जे योग्य ते त्याने केले. पण यहोशाफाटने उंचावरील पूजास्थळे काढली नाहीत. लोक त्या ठिकाणी होम करणे, धूप जाळणे वगैरे करत राहिले.
44And Jehoshaphat maketh peace with the king of Israel;
44इस्राएलच्या राजाशी त्याने शांततेचा करार केला.
45and the rest of the matters of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he got, and with which he fought, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
45राजा यहोशाफाट शूर होता. त्याने बऱ्याच लढाया केल्या. त्याने जे केले त्याची हकीकत यहूदाच्या राजांचा इतिहास या ग्रंथात आहे.
46And the remnant of the whoremongers who were left in the days of Asa his father he took away out of the land;
46धर्माच्या नावाखाली देह विक्रय करणाऱ्या स्त्रीपुरुषांना यहोशाफाटने प्रार्थनास्थळांमधून हाकलून लावले. यहोशाफाटचे वडील आसा राज्या करीत असताना हे लोक त्या ठिकाणी होते.
47and there is no king in Edom; he set up a king.
47याच काळात अदोम प्रदेशाला राजा नव्हता. एक कारभारीच इथला कारभार पाहात असे. त्याची नेमणूक यहूदाचा राजा करी.
48Jehoshaphat made ships at Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, and they went not, for the ships were broken in Ezion-Geber.
48राजा यहोशाफाटने काही मालवाहू गलबते बांधली. त्यात त्याचा हेतू ओफीरहून सोने आणण्याचा होता. पण ती तेथपर्यंत कधी पोहोंचू शकली नाहीत कारण एसयोन गेबेरच्या बंदरात त्यांची नासधूस करण्यात आली.
49Then said Ahaziah son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, `Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships;` and Jehoshaphat was not willing.
49इस्राएलचा राजा अहज्या याने यहोशाफाटला मदतीचा हात दिला. त्याच्या माणसांबरोबर आपले खलाशी देण्याची तयारी दर्शवली. पण अहज्याची कुमक स्वीकारण्यास यहोशाफाटने नकार दिला.
50And Jehoshaphat lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoram his son reigneth in his stead.
50यहोशाफाट मरण पावला त्या नंतर दावीद नगरात आपल्या पूर्वजांबरोबर त्याचे दफन करण्यात आले. त्याच्या जागी त्याचा मुलगा यहोराम राज्य करु लागला.
51Ahaziah son of Ahab hath reigned over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigneth over Israel two years,
51अहज्या अहाबचा मुलगा होता. यहोशाफाटच्या यहूदावरील सत्तेच्या सतराव्या वर्षी अहज्या इस्राएलचा राजा झाला. शोमरोन मध्ये त्याने दोन वर्षे राज्य केले.
52and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat who caused Israel to sin,
52अहज्याने परमेश्वराचे अनेक अपराध केले. आपले वडील अहाब, आई ईजबेल आणि नबाटाचा मुलगा यरोबाम या सगळ्यांनी केले तेच याने केले. या सर्व राज्यकर्त्यांनी इस्राएली लोकांना आणखी पापात लोटले.
53and serveth the Baal, and boweth himself to it, and provoketh Jehovah, God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
53आपल्या वडीलांप्रमाणेच अहज्यानेही बाल या अमंगळ दैवताची पूजा केली. त्यामुळे इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर याचा कोप ओढवला. परमेश्वर अहाबवर संतापला होता तसाच अहज्यावर संतापला.
