1And the famine [is] severe in the land;
1त्याकाळी कनान देशात फारच तीव्र दुष्काळ पडला होता.
2and it cometh to pass, when they have finished eating the corn which they brought from Egypt, that their father saith unto them, `Turn back, buy for us a little food.`
2याकोबाच्या मुलांनी मिसरहून आणलेले सगळे धान्य घरातील माणसांनी खाऊन संपल्यावर याकोब आपल्या मुलांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही पुन्हा मिसरला जा व आपल्याला खाण्यासाठी आणखी धान्य विकत आणा.”
3And Judah speaketh unto him, saying, `The man protesting protested to us, saying, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you;
3परंतु यहूदा याकोबास म्हणाला, “त्या देशाच्या प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्याने आम्हाला ताकीद दिली; तो म्हणाला, ‘तुम्ही जर तुमच्या धाकटया भावाला तुमच्या बरोबर माझ्याकडे आणले नाही तर मी तुमच्याशी बोलणार देखील नाहीं.’
4if thou art sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for thee food,
4तेव्हा तुम्ही बन्यामीनाला आमच्याबरोबर पाठवत असाल तरच आम्ही जाऊन धान्य आणू.
5and if thou art not sending — we do not go down, for the man said unto us, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you.`
5पण तुम्ही बन्यामीनाला पाठवणार नाही तर मग आम्ही धान्य आणावयास जाणार नाही. तुमच्या धाकटया भावाशिवाय तुम्ही परत मागे येऊ नका असे त्या आधिकाऱ्याने आम्हास बजावून सांगितले आहे.”
6And Israel saith, `Why did ye evil to me, by declaring to the man that ye had yet a brother?`
6इस्राएल (याकोब) म्हणाला, “पण तुम्हाला आणखी एक भाऊ आहे असे त्या प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्याला तुम्ही का सांगितले? आणि त्यामुळे तुम्ही मला पेचात का पाडले?”
7and they say, `The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? and we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?`
7त्या भावांनी उत्तर दिले, “त्या प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्याने आम्हा सर्वाविषयी काळजी व चिंता दाखवून मोठया प्रेमाने व कळकळीने आपल्या घरच्या सर्वाविषयी विचारपूस केली, कारण त्याला आपल्या घरच्या सर्वाविषयी माहिती करुन घ्यावयास पाहिजे होती. त्याने आम्हाला विचारले, ‘तुमचा बाप अजून जिवंत आहे का? तुमचा एखादा भाऊ सध्या घरी आहे का?’ आम्ही तर तुसती त्याच्या प्रश्नांची उत्तरे दिली. आम्हाला काय माहीत की तो आमच्या भावाला त्याच्याकडे घेऊन यावयास सांगेल म्हणून.”
8And Judah saith unto Israel his father, `Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and thou, and our infants.
8मग यहुदा आपल्या बापाला म्हणाला, “बाबा बन्यामीनाला माझ्याबरोबर पाठवा. मी त्याची सगळी काळजी घेईन, कारण आम्हाला धान्य आणावयास मिसराला गेलेच पाहिजे; नाही तर आपण सर्व आपल्या मुलाबाळांसकट मरुन जाऊ.
9I — I am surety [for] him, from my hand thou dost require him; if I have not brought him in unto thee, and set him before thee — then I have sinned against thee all the days;
9त्याच्या सुरक्षिततेची हमी मी घेतो; तसेच त्याची सगळी जबाबदारीही मी घेतो. मी जर त्याला परत माघारी आणू शकलो नाही तर मग तुम्ही मला जन्माचा दोषी ठरवा.
10for if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.`
10तुम्ही आम्हाला अगोदरच जाऊ दिले असते तर आतापर्यंत धान्य आणण्याच्या आमच्या दोन फेऱ्या झाल्या असत्या.”
11And Israel their father saith unto them, `If so, now, this do: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;
11मग त्यांचा बाप इस्राएल म्हणाला, “हे जर अगदी खरे असेल तर मग तुम्ही बन्यामीनाला तुमच्याबरोबर घेऊन जा; परंतु त्या प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्याकरिता आपल्या देशातून आपण मिळवलेल्या काही किंमती वस्तू, काही पदार्थ म्हणजे थोडा मध, पिस्ते, बादाम, डिंक, गंधरस वगैरे देणग्या भेट म्हणून घेऊन जा.
12and double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, ye take back in your hand, it may be it [is] an oversight.
12यावेळी दुप्पटीपेक्षा पैसा बरोबर न्या. मागच्यावेळी तुम्ही दिलेला जो पैसा तुमच्या गोण्यामधून परत आला तोही परत घेऊन जा; कारण कदाचित त्या अधिकाऱ्याकडून काही चूक झाली असेल.
13`And take your brother, and rise, turn back unto the man;
13बन्यामीनाला घेऊन त्या अधिकाऱ्याकडे परत जा.
14and God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he hath sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved — I am bereaved.`
14त्या अधिकाऱ्यापुढे तुम्ही जाऊन उभे राहाल तेव्हा सर्व समर्थ देव तुम्हाला सहाय्य करो अशी मी प्रार्थना करतो; तसेच तो बन्यामीनाला व शिमोनाला सुखरुपपणे परत मागे पाठवो यासाठी ही देवाची प्रार्थना करतो. असे घडले नाही तर मग माझ्या मुलांना गमावल्याबद्दल मी शोक करीन.”
15And the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;
15अशा रीतीने त्या भावांनी प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्याकरिता भेट वस्तू घेतल्या व पहिल्यावेळी घेतले होते त्याच्या दुप्पट पैसे यावेळी संगती घेतले बन्यामीनाला घेऊन ते मिसर देशाला रवाना झाले.
16and Joseph seeth Benjamin with them, and saith to him who [is] over his house, `Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for with me do the men eat at noon.`
16मिसरमध्ये त्या भावांच्याबरोबर योसेफाने बन्यामीनास पाहिले; तेव्हा योसेफ आपल्या कारभाऱ्यास म्हणाला, “या लोकांना माझ्या घरी आण. एक चांगला पोसलेला पशू मारुन भोजन तयार कर, कारण हे सर्वजण दुपारी माझ्याबरोबर भोजन करतील.”
17And the man doth as Joseph hath said, and the man bringeth in the men into the house of Joseph,
17तेव्हा त्या कारभाऱ्याने त्याला सांगितल्याप्रमाणे भोजनाची सर्व तयारी केली. नंतर त्याने त्या सर्व भावांना योसेफाच्या घरी नेले.
18and the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, `For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in — to roll himself upon us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants — our asses also.`
18योसेफाच्या घरी नेल्यावर ते भाऊ फार घाबरले. ते म्हणाले, “मागच्या वेळी आपल्या पोत्यात आपण दिलेले पैसे परत ठेवण्यात आले म्हणून आपणास येथे आणले आहे, त्यावरुन आपणास दोषी ठरवून ते आपली गाढवे घेतील व आपल्याला गुलाम करतील असे वाटते.”
19And they come nigh unto the man who [is] over the house of Joseph, and speak unto him at the opening of the house,
19म्हणून मग ते भाऊ योसेफाच्या कारभाऱ्याकडे गेले.
20and say, `O, my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;
20ते म्हणाले, “महाराज, आम्ही शपथ घेऊन खरे तेच सांगतो; मागच्या वेळी आम्ही धान्य खरेदी करण्यासाठीच आलो होतो.
21and it cometh to pass, when we have come in unto the lodging-place, and open our bags, that lo, each one`s money [is] in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;

22and other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.`

23And he saith, `Peace to you, fear not: your God and the God of your father hath given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came unto me;` and he bringeth out Simeon unto them.
23परंतु योसेफाच्या घरच्या कारभाऱ्याने उत्तर दिले, “भिऊ नका; माझ्यावर विश्वास ठेवा; तुमच्या व तुमच्या पित्याच्या देवाने तुमच्या पोत्यात देणगी म्हणून ते पैसे ठेवले असतील. मागच्या खेपेच्या धान्याचे पैसे तुम्ही मला दिले याची मला पक्की आठवण आहे.” नंतर त्या कारभाऱ्याने शिमोनाला तुरुंगातून सोडवून घरी आणले.
24And the man bringeth in the men into Joseph`s house, and giveth water, and they wash their feet; and he giveth provender for their asses,
24मग त्या कारभाऱ्याने त्या भावांना योसेफाच्या घरी आणले; त्याने त्यांना पाय धुण्यासाठी पाणी दिले व त्यांनी पाय धुतले. मग त्याने त्यांच्या गाढवांस वैरण दिले.
25and they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they do eat bread.
25आपण योसेफासोबत भोजन करणार आहो हे त्या भावांना समजले. तेव्हा त्यांनी दुपारपर्यंत काम करुन योसेफाला देण्याच्या भेटीची तयारी केली.
26And Joseph cometh into the house, and they bring to him the present which [is] in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;
26योसेफ घरी आला तेव्हा त्या भावांनी त्याच्यासाठी आपल्या सोबत आणलेली भेट अर्पण केली व त्यांनी त्याला भूमिपर्यंत लवून मुजरा केला.
27and he asketh of them of peace, and saith, `Is your father well? the aged man of whom ye have spoken, is he yet alive?`
27मग योसेफाने ते सर्व बरे खुशाल आहेत ना, याची विचारपूस केली. तो म्हणाला, “तुमचे म्हातारे वडील, ज्यांच्याबद्दल तुम्ही मागे मला सांगितले, ते बरे आहेत का? ते अजून जिवंत आहेत ना!”?
28and they say, `Thy servant our father [is] well, he is yet alive;` and they bow, and do obeisance.
28त्या भावांनी उत्तर दिले, “होय महाराज! आमचे वडील सुखरुप आहेत; ते अजून जिवंत आहेत.” आणि त्यांनी पुन्हा लवून नमन केले.
29And he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Benjamin his brother, his mother`s son, and saith, `Is this your young brother, of whom ye have spoken unto me?` and he saith, `God favour thee, my son.`
29मग योसेफाने आपला सख्खा भाऊ बन्यामीन यास पाहिले. (योसेफ व बन्यामीन यांची आई एकच होती) तो म्हणाला, “तुम्ही मला ज्याच्याविषयी सांगितले तो हाच का तुमचा भाऊ?” नंतर योसेफ बन्यामीनास म्हणाला, “मुला! देव तुझ्यावर कृपा करो!”
30And Joseph hasteth, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeketh to weep, and entereth the inner chamber, and weepeth there;
30मग योसेफ घाईघाईने खोली बाहेर निघून गेला. आपला प्रिय भाऊ बन्यामीन याला प्रेमाने घट्ट मिठी मारावी असे त्याला फार वाटले आणि त्याला खूप रडू आले; म्हणून गुपचूप तो आपल्या खोलीत गेला व खूप रडला.
31and he washeth his face, and goeth out, and refraineth himself, and saith, `Place bread.`
31मग तोंड धुऊन तो परत आला; मग स्वत:स सावरुन तो म्हणाला, “आता आपण भोजनास बसू या.”
32And they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it [is] an abomination to the Egyptians.
32योसेफ एकटाच एका मेजावर बसला होता. त्याचे भाऊ दुसऱ्या मेजावर एकत्र बसले; मिसरचे लोक आणखी दुसऱ्या मेजावर बसले कारण इब्री लोकांबरोबर जेवणे चुकीचे आहे असे ते मानीत.
33And they sit before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;
33योसेफाचे भाऊ त्याच्या समोरील मेजावर बसले. त्यांच्या बसण्याची व्यवस्था त्यांच्या ज्येष्ठतेप्रमाणे केली असल्यामुळे ते चकित होऊन एकमेकांकडे पाहू लागले.
34and he lifteth up gifts from before him unto them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, yea, they drink abundantly with him.
34वाढपी, योसेफाच्या पुढच्या मेजावरील पक्वान्ने घेऊन त्यांना वाढीत होते; परंतु त्यांनी बन्यामीनास इतरापेक्षा पांचपट अधिक वाढले. ते सर्व भाऊ योसेफाबरोबर भरपूर जेवले व मनमुराद प्यायले.
