1And Jacob seeth that there is corn in Egypt, and Jacob saith to his sons, `Why do you look at each other?`
1या सुमारास कनानमध्ये ही दुष्काळ पडला होता परंतु मिसरमध्ये धान्य असल्याचे याकोबाला समजले. तेव्हा याकोब आपल्या मुलांना म्हणाला, “आपण येथे काही न करता स्वस्थ का बसलो आहोत.
2he saith also, `Lo, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt, go down thither, and buy for us from thence, and we live and do not die;`
2मिसर देशात धान्य मिळते असे मी ऐकले आहे. तुम्ही जाऊन आपणासाठी धान्य विकत आणा म्हणजे आपण जगू, मरणार नाही.”
3and the ten brethren of Joseph go down to buy corn in Egypt,
3तेव्हा योसेफाचे दहा भाऊ धान्य विकत घेण्यासाठी मिसरला गेले.
4and Benjamin, Joseph`s brother, Jacob hath not sent with his brethren, for he said, `Lest mischief meet him.`
4याकोबाने, योसेफाचा सख्खा भाऊ बन्यामीन याला त्याच्या भावाबरोबर पाठवले नाही; कारण योसेफाप्रमाणे बन्यामीनावरही काही वाईट प्रसंग ओढवेल अशी त्याला भीती वाटली.
5And the sons of Israel come to buy in the midst of those coming, for the famine hath been in the land of Canaan,
5कनान देशात फारच तीव्र दुष्काळ पडला होता, म्हणून कनानातून पुष्कळ लोक धान्य विकत घ्यावयास मिसराला गेले त्या लोकांत इस्राएलाचे मुलगेही होते.
6and Joseph is the ruler over the land, he who is selling to all the people of the land, and Joseph`s brethren come and bow themselves to him — face to the earth.
6त्या वेळी योसेफ मिसरचा प्रशासक म्हणजे प्रमुख अधिकारी होता. बाहरेच्या देशातून धान्य विकत घ्यावयास मिसरमध्ये येणाऱ्या लोकांना धान्य विकण्याचा अधिकार केवळ योसेफालाच होता; म्हणून योसेफाचे भाऊ त्याजकडे आले आणि त्यांनी त्याला लवून नमन केले.
7And Joseph seeth his brethren, and discerneth them, and maketh himself strange unto them, and speaketh with them sharp things, and saith unto them, `From whence have ye come?` and they say, `From the land of Canaan — to buy food.`
7योसेफाने आपल्या भावांना पाहिल्याबरोबर ओळखले परंतु ते कोण आहेत हे माहित नसल्यासारखे दाखवून तो त्यांच्याशी कठोरपणाने बोलला त्याने त्यांना विचारले, “तुम्ही कोठून आला?” त्याच्या भावांनी उत्तर दिले, “महाराज, आम्ही कनान देशातून धान्य विकत घेण्यासाठी आलो आहो.”
8And Joseph discerneth his brethren, but they have not discerned him,
8योसेफाने आपल्या भावांना ओळखले परंतु त्यांनी त्याला ओळखले नाही.
9and Joseph remembereth the dreams which he dreamed of them, and saith unto them, `Ye [are] spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye have come.`
9आणि मग योसेफाला आपल्या भावांविषयी पडलेली स्वप्ने आठवली. योसेफ आपल्या भावांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही हेर आहात! तुम्ही धान्य खरेदी करण्यास नव्हे तर आमच्या देशाचा कमजोरपणा हेरण्यास आला आहात.”
10And they say unto him, `No, my lord, but thy servants have come to buy food;
10परंतु त्याचे भाऊ म्हणाले, “नाही नाही, महाराज! आम्ही आपले दास खरोखर केवळ धान्य विकत घ्यावयास आलो आहोत.
11we [are] all of us sons of one man, we [are] right men; thy servants have not been spies;`
11आम्ही सर्व भाऊ एका पुरुषाचे मुलगे आहोत. आम्ही प्रमाणिक म्हणजे खरेपणाने बोलणारे व चालणारे सरळ माणसे आहोत. आम्ही खरेच धान्य खरेदी करण्यास आलो आहोत.”
12and he saith unto them, `No, but the nakedness of the land ye have come to see;`
12नंतर योसेफ त्यांना म्हणाला, “नाही, तुम्ही आमचा कमकुवतपणा पाहण्यास आलेले हेर आहात.”
13and they say, `Thy servants [are] twelve brethren; we [are] sons of one man in the land of Canaan, and lo, the young one [is] with our father to-day, and the one is not.`
13परंतु ते भाऊ म्हणाले, “नाही नाही महाराज! आम्ही सर्व भाऊच आहोत. आमच्या कुटुंबातील आम्ही एका बापाचे बारा मुलगे आहोत. आमचा सर्वात धाकटा भाऊ घरी बापाजवळ आहे. आणि आमचा दुसरा एक भाऊ फार पूर्वी मरण पावला. कनान देशातले आम्ही सर्व आपल्या दासासमान आहोत.”
14And Joseph saith unto them, `This [is] that which I have spoken unto you, saying, Ye [are] spies,
14परंतु योसेफ त्यांना म्हणाला, “नाही, माझे म्हणणे अगदी बरोबर आहे. तुम्ही हेरच आहात;
15by this ye are proved: Pharaoh liveth! if ye go out from this — except by your young brother coming hither;
15परंतु तुम्ही खरे बोलत आहा हे पटवून देण्याची मी तुम्हाला एक संधी देतो; फारोची शपथ! मी वचन देतो की तुमचा धाकटा भाऊ येथे येईपर्यंत तुम्हाला येथून जाता येणार नाही.
16send one of you, and let him bring your brother, and ye, remain ye bound, and let your words be proved, whether truth be with you: and if not — Pharaoh liveth! surely ye [are] spies;`
16तेव्हा तुम्हातील एकाने मागे घरी जाऊन तुमच्या धाकटया भावाला येथे घेऊन यावे, आणि तो पर्यंत तुम्ही इतरांनी येथे तुरुंगात राहावे; मग तुम्ही कितपत खरे बोलता हे आम्हास कळेल. परंतु माझी खात्री आहे की तुम्ही हेरच आहात.”
17and he removeth them unto charge three days.
17मग योसेफाने त्या सर्वांना तीन दिवस तुरुंगात अटकेत ठेवले.
18And Joseph saith unto them on the third day, `This do and live; God I fear!
18तीन दिवसानंतर योसेफ त्यांना म्हणाला, “मी देवभिरु माणूस आहे. म्हणून मी सांगतो तसेच करा, म्हणजे तुमच्या धाकट्या भावाला येथे आणून तुमचा खरेपणा पटवून द्या; मग मी तुम्हाला वाचवू शकेन.
19if ye [are] right men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your ward, and ye, go, carry in corn [for] the famine of your houses,
19तुम्ही जर खरेच प्रामाणिक असाल तर मग तुम्हातील एका भावास येथे तुरुंगात ओलीस ठेवा व बाकीचे तुम्ही तुमच्या घरच्या माणसांकरिता धान्य घेऊन जा.
20and your young brother ye bring unto me, and your words are established, and ye die not;` and they do so.
20मग तुमच्या धाकट्या भावास येथे माझ्याकडे घेऊन या. यावरुन तुम्ही माझ्याशी खरे बोलता किंवा नाही याची मला खात्री पटेल.” आणि तुम्हाला मरावे लागणार नाही.” तेव्हा तसे करण्यास ते भाऊ कबूल झाले.
21And they say one unto another, `Verily we [are] guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the distress of his soul, in his making supplication unto us, and we did not hearken: therefore hath this distress come upon us.`
21ते एकमेकांस म्हणाले, “आपला धाकटा भाऊ योसेफ याच्याशी आपण वाईट रीतीने वागलो त्याचा बदला म्हणून आपणास ही शिक्षा होत आहे. त्याने त्याला सोडून द्यावे व त्याचा जीव वाचवावा म्हणून काकुळतीने रडून आपणास विनंती केली परंतु आपण त्याचे ऐकले नाही म्हणून आता आपणास हे भोगावे लागत आहे.”
22And Reuben answereth them, saying, `Spake I not unto you, saying, Sin not against the lad? and ye hearkened not; and his blood also, lo, it is required.`
22मग रऊबेन त्यांना म्हणाला, “मी तुम्हाला सांगितले की त्या लहान भावाच्या जीवाला, वाईट रीतीने वागून काही अपाय करु नका; परंतु तुम्ही ते ऐकले नाही म्हणून आता त्याच्या मृत्यूबद्दल आपण ही शिक्षा भोगीत आहोत.”
23And they have not known that Joseph understandeth, for the interpreter [is] between them;
23योसेफ दुभाष्यातर्फे आपल्या भावांशी बोलत असल्यामुळे, योसेफाला आपल्या भोषेतील बोलणे कळत असेल असे त्यांना वाटले नाही. परंतु त्यांचे सर्व बोलणे योसेफाला समजले; त्यामुळे त्याला फार दु:ख झाले व
24and he turneth round from them, and weepeth, and turneth back unto them, and speaketh unto them, and taketh from them Simeon, and bindeth him before their eyes.
24म्हणून तो त्यांच्यापासून बाजूला जाऊन रडला थोडया वेळाने तो परत त्यांच्याकडे आला. आणि त्यांच्याशी बोलला इतर भाऊ पाहात असताना त्याने एका भावाला शिमोनला त्यांच्यातून काढून घेतले आणि बांधले.
25And Joseph commandeth, and they fill their vessels [with] corn, also to put back the money of each unto his sack, and to give to them provision for the way; and one doth to them so.
25मग आपल्या भावांच्या पोत्यात धान्य भरण्यास तसेच त्या धान्याबद्दल त्याच्या भावांनी दिलेला परंतु योसेफाने न घेतलेला पैसा गुपचूप ज्याच्या त्याच्या पोत्यात भरण्यास व त्यांच्या परतीच्या प्रवासात वाटेत खाण्यासाठी अन्नसामग्री देण्यास योसेफाने आपल्या काही सेवकांना सांगतिले.
26And they lift up their corn upon their asses, and go from thence,
26तेव्हा त्या भावांनी ते धान्य आपापल्या गाढवावर लादले व तेथून ते माघारी जाण्यास निघाले.
27and the one openeth his sack to give provender to his ass at a lodging-place, and he seeth his money, and lo, it [is] in the mouth of his bag,
27ते भाऊ रात्रीच्या मुक्कामासाठी एका ठिकाणी थांबले. तेव्हा त्यांच्यापैकी एकाने त्याच्या गाढवाला थोडेसे धान्य देण्यासाठी आपली गोणी उघडली तेव्हा त्याने धान्यासाठी दिलेल पैसे त्याला त्या गोणीत आढळले.
28and he saith unto his brethren, `My money hath been put back, and also, lo, in my bag:` and their heart goeth out, and they tremble, one to another saying, `What [is] this God hath done to us!`
28तेव्हा तो आपल्या इतर भावांना म्हणाला, “पाहा! धान्यासाठी मी दिलेले हे पैसे कोणीतरी पुन्हा माझ्या गोणीत ठेवले आहेत!” तेव्हा ते भाऊ अतिशय घाबरले, ते एकमेकांस म्हणाले, “देव आपल्याला काय करत आहे.”
29And they come in unto Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and they declare to him all the things meeting them, saying,
29ते भाऊ कनान देशास आपला बाप याकोब याजकडे गेले आणि त्यांनी घडलेल्या सर्व गोष्टी त्याला सांगितल्या.
30`The man, the lord of the land, hath spoken with us sharp things, and maketh us as spies of the land;
30ते म्हणाले, “त्या देशाचा (मिसरचा) अधिपति म्हणजे प्रमुख अधिकारी आमच्याशी कठोरपणाने बोलला आम्ही हेर आहोत असे त्याला वाटले;
31and we say unto him, We [are] right men, we have not been spies,
31परंतु आम्ही हेर नसून प्रामाणिक म्हणजे खरेपणाने वागणारे सरळ माणसे आहोत असे त्याला सांगितले.
32we [are] twelve brethren, sons of our father, the one is not, and the young one [is] to-day with our father in the land of Canaan.
32आम्ही त्याला सांगितले की आम्ही बारा भाऊ एका माणसाचे मुलगे आहोत आमचा एक भाऊ वारला तसेच आमचा सर्वात धाकटा भाऊ कनान देशात आजपर्यंत आमच्या बापाजवळच असतो असेही सांगितले.
33`And the man, the lord of the land, saith unto us, By this I know that ye [are] right men — one of your brethren leave with me, and [for] the famine of your houses take ye and go,
33“तेव्हा त्या देशाचा प्रशासक म्हणजे प्रमुख अधिकारी आम्हाला म्हणाला, ‘तुम्ही प्रामाणिक व साळसूद लोक आहात हे पटवून देण्याचा एक मार्ग आहे; तो असा की तुम्ही तुम्हातील एका भावास येथे ओलीस माझ्यापाशी ठेवा; तुम्ही इतरजण तुमच्या कुटुंबातील माणसाकरिता धान्य घेऊन जा.
34and bring your young brother unto me, and I know that ye [are] not spies, but ye [are] right men; your brother I give to you, and ye trade with the land.`
34आणि नंतर तुम्ही तुमच्या धाकट्या भावाला येथे माझ्याकडे घेऊन या; मग तुम्ही खरेच प्रामाणिक व साळसूद माणसे आहात हे मला पटेल; नाही तर मग तुम्ही तुमच्या सेनापतीच्या हुकुमाने आमचा नाश करावयास आला आहात असे मी समजेन; तुम्ही जर खरे बोलत असाल तर मग मी तुमचा भाऊ परत तुमच्या हवाली करीन आणि मग तुम्हाला आपणाकरिता आमच्या देशातून धान्य विकत घेण्यासाठी ये जा करण्याची परवानगी असेल.”
35And it cometh to pass, they are emptying their sacks, and lo, the bundle of each man`s silver [is] in his sack, and they see their bundles of silver, they and their father, and are afraid;
35मग ते भाऊ आपापल्या पोत्यातून धान्य काढावयास गेले; तेव्हा प्रत्येकाच्या पोत्यात पैशाची पिशवी मिळाली. त्या पैसाच्या पिशव्या पाहून ते भाऊ व त्यांचा बाप हे अतिशय घाबरले.
36and Jacob their father saith unto them, `Me ye have bereaved; Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and Benjamin ye take — against me have been all these.`
36याकोब त्यांना म्हणाला, “मी माझ्या सर्व मुलांना मुकावे अशी तुमची इच्छा आहे काय? योसेफ गेला; शिमोनही गेला; आणि आता बन्यामीनालाही माझ्यापासून घेऊन जाण्याची तुमची इच्छा आहे!”
37And Reuben speaketh unto his father, saying, `My two sons thou dost put to death, if I bring him not in unto thee; give him into my hand, and I — I bring him back unto thee;`
37मग रऊबेन आपल्या बापास म्हणाला, “बाबा, मी जर बन्यामीनाला मागे आणले नाही तर माझे दोन मुलगे तुम्ही मारुन टाका; बाबा, माझ्यावर विश्वास ठेवा! मी खरोखर बन्यामीनाला मागे तुमच्याकडे घेऊन येईन!”
38and he saith, `My son doth not go down with you, for his brother [is] dead, and he by himself is left; when mischief hath met him in the way in which ye go, then ye have brought down my grey hairs in sorrow to sheol.`
38परंतु याकोब म्हणाला, “मी बन्यामीनाला तुमच्याबरोबर पाठविणार नाही; त्याचा भाऊ मरण पावला आणि आता माझी बायको राहेल हिचा एवढा एकच मुलगा राहिला आहे. मिसरच्या फेरीत त्याला काही अपाय झाला तर त्यामुळे मला मरण येईल; आणि अतिशय दु:खी म्हातारा माणूस म्हणून तुम्ही मला कबरेत पाठवाल.”
