1And it cometh to pass in the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, gone up hath Rezin king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle against it, and he is not able to fight against it.
1यहुदाचा राजा आहाज हा योथामचा पुत्र व योथाम हा उज्जीयाचा पुत्र. आहाजच्याकारकिर्दीत रसीन हा सिरीयावर राज्य करीत होता तर रमाल्याचा पुत्र पेकह हा इस्राएलचा राजा होता. एकदा रसीन व पेकह हे दोघे यरूशलेमवर चाल करून गेले. पण त्यांना ते शहर काही जिंकता आले नाही.
2And it is declared to the house of David, saying, `Aram hath been led towards Ephraim,` And his heart and the heart of his people is moved, like the moving of trees of a forest by the presence of wind.
2“सिरीया आणि एफ्राइम (इस्राएल) यांच्या सैन्यांची एकजूट झाली आहे आणि त्यांनी एकत्र तळ ठोकला आहे,” असे दाविदच्या वंशजाला कळविण्यात आले.” जेव्हा राजा आहाज ह्याला हा. संदेश कळला तेव्हा तो व त्याची प्रजा अतिशय घाबरून गेले. रानातील वृक्ष वाऱ्याने ज्याप्रमाणे कापतात तशीच भीतीने त्यांची स्थिती झाली.
3And Jehovah saith unto Isaiah, `Go forth, I pray thee, to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-Jashub thy son, unto the end of the conduit of the upper pool, unto the highway of the fuller`s field,
3तेव्हा परमेश्वर यशयाला म्हणाला, “धोब्याच्या शेताकडे जाणाऱ्या रस्त्यावर जेथे वरच्या डोहाला पाणी मिळते तेथे तू व तुझा मुलगा शआर-याशूब असे दोघे आहाजला भेटा व त्याच्याशी बोला.
4and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah.
4“आहाजला सांगा, ‘सावध राहा पण शांत राहा भिऊ नकोस. रसीन आणि रमाल्याचा पुत्र ह्यांना घाबरू नकोस. ते दोघे जळलेल्या काड्यांप्रमाणे आहेत. पूर्वी त्यांच्यात आग होती पण आता ते नुसते धुमसताहेत! रसीन, सिरीया आणि रमाल्याचा पुत्र हे खूप चिडले आहेत.
5Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:

6We go up into Judah, and we vex it, And we rend it unto ourselves, And we cause a king to reign in its midst — The son of Tabeal.
6आपण चाल करून जाऊ आणि यहुदाविरूध्द लढून यहुदा जिंकू. आपण आपापसात यहुदाची वाटणी करू आणि ताबेलाच्या पुत्राला यहुदाच्या गादीवर बसवू. असा त्यांचा बेत आहे.”‘
7Thus said the Lord Jehovah: It doth not stand, nor shall it be!
7“पण त्यांचा बेत सिध्दीस जाणार नाही. असे काही घडणार नाही. असे माझा परमेश्वर प्रभू म्हणाला.
8For the head of Aram [is] Damascus, And the head of Damascus [is] Rezin, And within sixty and five years Is Ephraim broken from [being] a people.
8आता एफ्राइम (इस्राएल) एक राष्ट्र आहे पण 65 वर्षांनी ते राष्ट्र म्हणून राहाणार नाही. तेव्हा, जोपर्यंत रसीन हा दमास्कसचा राजा आहे
9And the head of Ephraim [is] Samaria, And the head of Samaria [is] the son of Remaliah. If ye do not give credence, Surely ye are not stedfast.`
9आणि एफ्राईमची (इस्राएलची) राजधानी शोमरोन येथे रमाल्याचा पुत्र राज्य करीत आहे तोपर्यंत, रसीन व रमाल्याचा पुत्र यांनी केलेला बेत सिध्दीस जाणार नाही. तू जर ह्या संदेशावर विश्वास ठेवला नाहीस तर तुझी लोकांनीही तुझ्यावर विश्वास ठेवू नये.”
10And Jehovah addeth to speak unto Ahaz, saying:
10परमेश्वर आहाजशी बोलतच राहिला
11`Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make [it] high upwards.`
11परमेश्वर म्हणाला, “ह्या सर्व गोष्टी खऱ्या आहेत हे सिध्द करण्यासाठी तू काही निशाणी मागून घे. तू तुला हवी असलेली निशाणी माग. ती निशाणी पाताळातून येवो अगर आकाशातून.”
12And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.`
12पण आहाज म्हणाला, ‘पुरावा म्हणून मी कोठलीही निशाणी मागणार नाही. मी परमेश्वराची परीक्षा पाहणार नाही.’
13And he saith, `Hear, I pray you, O house of David, Is it a little thing for you to weary men, That ye weary also my God?
13तेव्हा यशया म्हणाला, “हे दाविदाच्या वंशजा, लक्षपूर्वक ऐक. तू लोकांच्या सहनशीलतेचा अंत पाहातोस. हे पुरेसे नाही म्हणून आता तू देवाच्या सहनशीलतेचा अंत पाहत आहेस का?
14Therefore the Lord Himself giveth to you a sign, Lo, the Virgin is conceiving, And is bringing forth a son, And hath called his name Immanuel,
14तेव्हा देव माझा प्रभु तुला स्वत:हून चिन्ह देईल.” त्या कुमारिकेकडे पाहा ती गर्भवती आहे. ती मुलाला जन्म देईल. ती त्याचे नाव इम्मानुएल ठेवील.
15Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good.
15इम्मानुएल मध व लोणी खाईल. अशा रीतीने जगत असतानाच ह्यातूनच तो चांगले करावे व वाईट सोडावे हे शिकेल.
16For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings.
16पण तो चांगल्या वाईट गोष्टीतील फरक कळण्याइतका मोठा होण्याआधी एफ्राइम (इस्राएल) व सिरीया हे वैराण बनलेले असतील. “तुला आता त्या दोन राजांची भीती वाटते.
17Jehovah bringeth on thee, and on thy people, And on the house of thy father, Days that have not come, Even from the day of the turning aside of Ephraim from Judah, By the king of Asshur.
17पण खरे म्हणजे तू परमेश्वराला भ्यायला पाहिजेस. का? कारण परमेश्वर तुझ्या वाट्याला काही काळ क्लेश देईल. ते क्लेश यहूदातून एफ्राइमच्या निघून जाण्याच्या वेळेप्रमाणे असतील, त्यानंतर असे क्लेश आताच तुमच्या वाट्याला येतील. तुझ्या वडिलांच्या वंशजांना आणि तुझ्या प्रजेला हे क्लेश सोसावे लागतील. देव काय करील बरे? देव अश्शूरच्या राजाला तुझ्याविरूध्द लढण्यास भाग पाडील.
18And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah doth hiss for a fly that [is] in the extremity of the brooks of Egypt, And for a bee that [is] in the land of Asshur.
18“त्यावेळी परमेश्वर ‘माशा’ व ‘मध माश्यांना’ बोलावील.
19And they have come, and rested all of them in the desolate valleys, And in holes of the rocks, and on all the thorns, And on all the commendable things.
19वाळवटांतील झऱ्याजवळच्या खडकाळ दऱ्यांत, झाडांझुडपांत व पाणथळ जागांत ते आपला तळ ठोकतील.
20In that day doth the Lord shave, By a razor that is hired beyond the river, By the king of Asshur, The head, and the hair of the feet, Yea, also the beard it consumeth.
20परमेश्वर अश्शूर देशाचा उपयोग यहुदाला शिक्षा करण्यासाठी करून घेईल. अश्शूर देशाला भाडोत्री म्हणून घेऊन त्याचा उपयोग वस्तऱ्याप्रमाणे केला जाईल. देव जणू काही ह्या वस्तऱ्याचा उपयोग करून यहुदाचे डोके, पाय भादरेल आणि त्याची हजामतही करील.
21And it hath come to pass, in that day, A man keepeth alive a heifer of the herd, And two of the flock,
21“त्यावेळी प्रत्येक माणूस एक कालवड व दोन मेंढरे पाळू शकेल.
22And it hath come to pass, From the abundance of the yielding of milk he eateth butter, For butter and honey doth every one eat Who is left in the heart of the land.
22त्या माणसाला पुरेल एवढे लोणी त्याला त्यांच्या दुधापासून मिळेल. देशातील प्रत्येक माणूस त्या वेळी लोणी व मध खाऊन राहील.
23And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns.
23आता ह्या देशातील भूमीवर एक हजार द्राक्षवेली असलेले द्राक्षमळे आहेत. प्रत्येक द्राक्षवेलीची किमंत एक हजार चांदीची नाणी एवढी आहे.
24With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn.
24पण हे द्राक्षमळे काट्यांनी व तणांनी भरून नष्ट होतील. ह्या भूमीत जंगल माजेल. व तिचा उपयोग शिकारीसाठीच होईल.
25And all the hills that with a mattock are kept in order, Thither cometh not the fear of brier and thorn, And it hath been for the sending forth of ox, And for the treading of sheep!`
25एकेकाळी ज्या टेकड्यांवर लोक शेती करून धान्य पिकवीत होते त्या टेकड्यांवर काट्याकुट्यांचे रान माजेल. कोणीही माणूस तिकडे फिरकणार नाही. फक्त मेंढ्या व गुरेढोरे तिकडे जातील.”
