¹And Jehovah saith unto me, `Take to thee a great tablet, and write upon it with a graving tool of man, To haste spoil, enjoy prey.`

¹परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला, “एक मोठी गुंडाळी घे आणि टाकाने त्यावर पुढील शब्द लिही, ‘महेर-शालाल-हाश-बज.’ (याचा अर्थ- ‘लवकरच येथे लूटालूट व चोऱ्या होतील.’)”

²And I cause faithful witnesses to testify to me, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.

²साक्षीदार म्हणून विश्वास टाकता येईल अशा काही लोकांना मी गोळा केले. (ते होते उरिया हा याजक व यबरेख्याचा मुलगा जखऱ्या) त्यांच्या समोरच मी लिहिले.

³And I draw near unto the prophetess, and she conceiveth, and beareth a son; and Jehovah saith unto me, `Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz,

³नंतर मी संदेष्ट्रीशी समागम केला. ती गर्भवती होऊन तिला पुत्र झाला. “परमेश्वराने मला त्याचे नाव महेर-शालाल-हाश-बज असे ठेवण्यास सांगितले.

⁴for before the youth doth know to cry, My father, and My mother, one taketh away the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria, before the king of Asshur.`

⁴कारण तो मुलगा ‘आई-बाबा’ असे बोलायला लागण्यापूर्वीच देव दमास्कसची व शोमरोनची सर्व धनसंपत्ती काढून अश्शूरच्या राजाला देईल.”

⁵And Jehovah addeth to speak unto me again, saying:

⁵पुन्हा एकदा परमेश्वर माझ्याशी बोलला.

⁶`Because that this people hath refused The waters of Shiloah that go softly, And is rejoicing with Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

⁶माझा प्रभु, म्हणाला, “हे लोक संथ वाहणारे शिलोहाचे पाणी नाकारतात. ते रसीन व रमाल्याचा पुत्र (पेकह) यांच्या सहवासात आनंद मानतात.

⁷Therefore, lo, the Lord is bringing up on them, The waters of the river, the mighty and the great, (The king of Asshur, and all his glory,) And it hath gone up over all its streams, And hath gone on over all its banks.

⁷पण मी, परमेश्वर, अश्शूरच्या राजाला त्याच्या सर्व शक्तीनीशी तुमच्यावर आक्रमण करण्यास भाग पाडीन. युफ्राटिस नदीच्या लोंढ्याप्रमाणे ते येतील. पुराचे पाणी चढत जाऊन नदीच्या किनाऱ्यावरून बाहेर ओसंडून वाहते तसेच ते येतील.

⁸And it hath passed on into Judah, It hath overflown and passed over, Unto the neck it cometh, And the stretching out of its wings Hath been the fulness of the breadth of thy land, O Emmanu-El!

⁸नदीचा काठ ओलांडून बाहेर पसरलेल्या पाण्याप्रमाणे अश्शूरचे सैन्य सर्व यहुदाभर पसरेल. ते यहुदाच्या गळ्यापर्यंत चढेल व जवळजवळ यहुदाला बुडवून टाकील. “इम्मानुएल, हे पुराचे पाणी सर्व देशाला व्यापेपर्यंत पसरत राहील.”

⁹Be friends, O nations, and be broken, And give ear, all ye far off ones of earth, Gird yourselves, and be broken, Gird yourselves, and be broken.

⁹सर्व राष्ट्रांनो, युध्दाची तयारी करा, तुम्ही पराभूत व्हाल, दुरवरच्या सर्व देशांनो, ऐका! लढाईची तयारी करा, तुमचा पराभव होईल.

¹⁰Take counsel, and it is broken, Speak a word, and it doth not stand, Because of Emmanu-El!`

¹⁰लढण्याचे बेत करा, ते सिध्दीस जाणार नाहीत. तुम्ही तुमच्या सैन्याला हुकूम करा, पण त्याचा काहीही उपयोग होणार नाही. का? कारण देव आमच्या पाठीशी आहे.

¹¹For thus hath Jehovah spoken unto me with strength of hand, and instructeth me against walking in the way of this people, saying,

¹¹परमेश्वर माझ्याशी त्याच्या महान सामर्थ्यानिशी बोलला ‘मी ह्या लोकांच्या मार्गाने जाऊ नये. असे परमेश्वराने मला बजावले. परमेश्वर म्हणाला,

¹²`Ye do not say, A confederacy, To all to whom this people saith, A confederacy, And its fear ye do not fear, Nor declare fearful.

¹²“दुसरे त्यांच्याविरूध्द कट करीत आहेत, असे ते म्हणत आहेत. तू त्या गोष्टींवर विश्वास ठेवू नकोस, ज्या गोष्टींना हे लोक घाबरतात, त्या गोष्टींना घाबरू नकोस. त्या गोष्टींची मुळीच भीती बाळगू नकोस.”

¹³Jehovah of Hosts — Him ye do sanctify, And He [is] your Fear, and He your Dread,

¹³सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर हाच असा आहे की त्याचे भय मानावे. त्याचाच फक्त आदर करावा. त्यालाच फक्त पवित्र मानावे.

¹⁴And He hath been for a sanctuary, And for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling, To the two houses of Israel, For a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁴तु जर परमेश्वराचा मान राखलास, तो पवित्र आहे असे मानलेस, तर तो तुला अभय देईल, पण जर तू त्याचा अनादर केलास, तर देव रस्त्यावरील दगडाप्रमाणे होईल आणि तुम्ही लोक त्यावर ठेचकाळून पडाल. इस्राएलच्या दोन घराण्यांना तो दगड अडखळवतो. यरूशलेमच्या सर्व लोकांचा परमेश्वरच सापळा आहे.

¹⁵And many among them have stumbled and fallen, And been broken, and snared, and captured.

¹⁵(पुष्कळ माणसे ह्याच अडथळ्याला अडखळून पडतील व त्यांची हाडे मोडतील. ते सापळ्यात अडकतील व पकडले जातील.)

¹⁶Bind up the testimony, Seal the law among My disciples.

¹⁶यशया म्हणाला, “करार करा व त्यावर शिक्कामोर्तब करा माझ्या शिकवणुकीचे भविष्यकाळासाठी जतन करा. माझ्या शिष्यांसमोर हे करा.

¹⁷And I have waited for Jehovah, Who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob, And I have looked for Him.

¹⁷तो करार असा: परमेश्वराने आपल्याला मदत करावी म्हणून मी वाट पाहीन. याकोबच्या वंशजांची परमेश्वराला लाज वाटते. तो त्यांच्याकडे पाहण्याचे नाकारतो. पण मी परमेश्वराची प्रतीक्षा करीन. तो आम्हाला वाचवील.

¹⁸Lo, I, and the children whom Jehovah hath given to me, [Are] for signs and for wonders in Israel, From Jehovah of Hosts, who is dwelling in Mount Zion.

¹⁸“माझी मुले आणि मी इस्राएल लोकांकरिता निशाणी आणि पुरावे आहोत. सीयोनच्या डोंगरावर राहणाऱ्या सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराने आम्हाला पाठविले आहे.”

¹⁹And when they say unto you, `Seek unto those having familiar spirits, And unto wizards, who chatter and mutter, Doth not a people seek unto its God? — For the living unto the dead!

¹⁹काही लोक “काय करावे ते ज्योतिषी व जादूटोणा करणारे यांना विचारा” असे म्हणतात. (ते ज्योतिषी व जादूटोणा करणारे कुजबुजतात व आपल्याला गुपित समजते असे लोकांना वाटावे म्हणून पक्षांप्रमाणे बोलतात.) पण मी सांगतो की तुम्ही मदतीसाठी देवाला हाक मारावी. ते ज्योतिषी आणि जादूटोणा करणारे मृतांची मदत घेतात. सजीवांनी मृतांची मदत का घ्यावी?

²⁰To the law and to the testimony! If not, let them say after this manner, `That there is no dawn to it.`

²⁰तुम्ही शिकवणुकीप्रमाणे वागा व कराराचे पालन करा. तुम्ही ह्या आज्ञांचे पालन केले नाही तर तुम्ही चुकीच्या आज्ञांचे पालन कराल. (चुकीच्या आज्ञा म्हणजे ज्योतिषी व जादूटोणा करणारे ह्यांनी दिलेल्या आज्ञा होत. त्या आज्ञांना काही अर्थ नाही. त्या आज्ञांचे पालन करून तुम्हाला काहीही मिळणार नाही.)

²¹— And it hath passed over into it, hardened and hungry, And it hath come to pass, That it is hungry, and hath been wroth, And made light of its king, and of its God, And hath looked upwards.

²¹तुम्ही चुकीच्या आज्ञांचे पालन कराल तर देशावर संकटे येतील आणि उपासमार होईल. लोकांची उपासमार झाल्यावर लोक संतापतील व ते राजा आणि त्याचे देव ह्यांच्याविरूध्द बोलू लागतील. मग मदतीसाठी देवाकडे पाहतील.

²²And unto the land it looketh attentively, And lo, adversity and darkness! — Dimness, distress, and thick darkness is driven away, But not the dimness for which she is in distress!

²²जर त्यांनी त्यांच्या आजूबाजूला पाहिले तर त्यांना संकटे आणि निराशेचा अंधकार दिसेल, बळजबरीने देश सोडून जावे लागणाऱ्या लोकांचे अतीव दु:ख त्यांना दिसेल आणि जे लोक या अंधकारात अडकतील त्यांना आपली सुटका करून घेता येणार नाही.
