¹And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: —

¹नंतर परमेश्वर वावटळींतून ईयोबशी बोलला. तो म्हणाला:

²Who [is] this — darkening counsel, By words without knowledge?

²“जो मूर्खासारखा बोलत आहे तो हा अज्ञानी मनुष्य कोण आहे?

³Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, And I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.

³ईयोब, स्वत:ला सावर आणि मी जे प्रश्र विचारतो त्याची उत्तरे द्यायला तयार हो.

⁴Where wast thou when I founded earth? Declare, if thou hast known understanding.

⁴“ईयोब, मी पृथ्वी निर्माण केली तेव्हा तू कुठे होतास? तू स्वत:ला इतका शहाणा समजत असशील तर मला उत्तर दे.

⁵Who placed its measures — if thou knowest? Or who hath stretched out upon it a line?

⁵तू जर एवढा चलाख असशील तर जग इतके मोठे असावे हे कुणी ठरवले ते सांग. मोजायच्या दोरीने ते कुणी मोजले का?

⁶On what have its sockets been sunk? Or who hath cast its corner-stone?

⁶पृथ्वीचा पाया कशावर घातला आहे? तिची कोनशिला कुणी ठेवली?

⁷In the singing together of stars of morning, And all sons of God shout for joy,

⁷जेव्हा ते घडले तेव्हा पहाटेच्या ताऱ्यांनी गायन केले आणि देवपुत्रांनी आनंदाने जयजयकार केला.

⁸And He shutteth up with doors the sea, In its coming forth, from the womb it goeth out.

⁸“ईयोब, जेव्हा समुद्र पृथ्वीच्या पोटातून बाहेर पडला तेव्हा दरवाजे बंद करुन त्याला कुणी अडवला?

⁹In My making a cloud its clothing, And thick darkness its swaddling band,

⁹त्यावेळी मी त्याला मेघांनी झाकले आणि काळोखात गुंडाळले.

¹⁰And I measure over it My statute, And place bar and doors,

¹⁰मी समुद्राला मर्यादा घातल्या आणि त्याला कुलुपांनी बंद केलेल्या दरवाजाबाहेर थोपविले.

¹¹And say, `Hitherto come thou, and add not, And a command is placed On the pride of thy billows.`

¹¹मी समुद्राला म्हणालो, ‘तू इथपर्यंतच येऊ शकतोस या पलिकडे मात्र नाही. तुझ्या उन्मत्त लाटा इथेच थांबतील.’

¹²Hast thou commanded morning since thy days? Causest thou the dawn to know its place?

¹²“ईयोब, तुझ्या आयुष्यात तू कधीतरी पहाटेला आरंभ करायला आणि दिवसाला सुरु व्हायला सांगितलेस का?

¹³To take hold on the skirts of the earth, And the wicked are shaken out of it,

¹³ईयोब, तू कधी तरी पहाटेच्या प्रकाशाला पृथ्वीला पकडून दुष्ट लोकांना त्यांच्या लपायच्या जागेतून हुसकायला सांगितलेस का?

¹⁴It turneth itself as clay of a seal And they station themselves as clothed.

¹⁴पहाटेच्या प्रकाशात डोंगरदऱ्या नीट दिसतात. दिवसाच्या प्रकाशात ह्या जगाचा आकार अंगरख्याला असलेल्या घडीप्रमाणे ठळक दिसतात. ओल्या मातीवर उमटलेल्या ठशाप्रमाणे त्या जागा दिसतात.

¹⁵And withheld from the wicked is their light, And the arm lifted up is broken.

¹⁵दुष्ट लोकांना दिवसाचा प्रकाश आवडत नाही. प्रकाश दैदीप्यमान असतो तेव्हा त्यांना त्यांच्या वाईट गोष्टी करता येत नाहीत.

¹⁶Hast thou come in to springs of the sea? And in searching the deep Hast thou walked up and down?

¹⁶“ईयोब, सागराला जिथे सुरुवात होते तिथे अगदी खोल जागेत तू कधी गेला आहेस का? समुद्राच्या तळात तू कधी चालला आहेस का?

¹⁷Revealed to thee were the gates of death? And the gates of death-shade dost thou see?

¹⁷ईयोब, मृत्युलोकात नेणारे दरवाजे तू कधी पाहिलेस का? काळोख्या जगात नेणारे दरवाजे तू कधी बघितलेस का?

¹⁸Thou hast understanding, Even unto the broad places of earth! Declare — if thou hast known it all.

¹⁸ईयोब, ही पृथ्वी किती मोठी आहे ते तुला कधी समजले का? तुला जर हे सर्व माहीत असेल तर मला सांग.

¹⁹Where [is] this — the way light dwelleth? And darkness, where [is] this — its place?

¹⁹“ईयोब, प्रकाश कुठून येतो? काळोख कुठून येतो?

²⁰That thou dost take it unto its boundary, And that thou dost understand The paths of its house.

²⁰ईयोब, तू प्रकाशाला आणि काळोखाला ते जिथून आले तेथे परत नेऊ शकशील का? तिथे कसे जायचे ते तुला माहीत आहे का?

²¹Thou hast known — for then thou art born And the number of thy days [are] many!

²¹ईयोब, तुला या सर्व गोष्टी नक्कीच माहीत असतील. तू खूप वृध्द आणि विद्वान आहेस मी तेव्हा या गोष्टी निर्माण केल्या तेव्हा तू जिवंत होतास होय ना?”

²²Hast thou come in unto the treasure of snow? Yea, the treasures of hail dost thou see?

²²“ईयोब, मी ज्या भांडारात हिम आणि गारा ठेवतो तिथे तू कधी गेला आहेस का?

²³That I have kept back for a time of distress, For a day of conflict and battle.

²³मी बर्फ आणि गारांचा साठा संकटकाळासाठी, युध्द आणि लढाईच्या दिवसांसाठी करुन ठेवतो.

²⁴Where [is] this, the way light is apportioned? It scattereth an east wind over the earth.

²⁴ईयोब, सूर्य उगवतो त्या ठिकाणी तू कधी गेला आहेस का? पूर्वेकडचा वारा जिथून सर्व जगभर वाहातो तिथे तू कधी गेला आहेस का?

²⁵Who hath divided for the flood a conduit? And a way for the lightning of the voices?

²⁵जोरदार पावसासाठी आकाशात पाट कोणी खोदले? गरजणाऱ्या वादळासाठी कुणी मार्ग मोकळा केला?

²⁶To cause [it] to rain on a land — no man, A wilderness — no man in it.

²⁶वैराण वाळवंटात देखील कोण पाऊस पाडतो?

²⁷To satisfy a desolate and waste place, And to cause to shoot up The produce of the tender grass?

²⁷निर्जन प्रदेशात पावसाचे खूप पाणी पडते आणि गवत उगवायला सुरुवात होते.

²⁸Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

²⁸ईयोब, पावसाला वडील आहेत का? दवबिंदू कुठून येतात?

²⁹From whose belly came forth the ice? And the hoar-frost of the heavens, Who hath begotten it?

²⁹हिमाची आई कोण आहे? आकाशातून पडणाऱ्या हिमकणास कोण जन्म देतो?

³⁰As a stone waters are hidden, And the face of the deep is captured.

³⁰पाणी दगडासारखे गोठते. सागराचा पृष्ठभागदेखील गोठून जातो.

³¹Dost thou bind sweet influences of Kimah? Or the attractions of Kesil dost thou open?

³¹“ईयोब, तू कृत्तिकांना बांधून ठेवू शकशील का? तुला मृगशीर्षाचे बंध सोडता येतील का?

³²Dost thou bring out Mazzaroth in its season? And Aysh for her sons dost thou comfort?

³²ईयोब, तुला राशीचक्र योग्यवेळी आकाशात आणता येईल का? किंवा तुला सप्तर्षीना त्यांच्या समूहासह मार्ग दाखवता येईल का?

³³Hast thou known the statutes of heaven? Or dost thou appoint Its dominion in the earth?

³³ईयोब, तुला आकाशातील नियम माहीत आहेत का? तुला त्याच नियमांचा पृथ्वीवर उपयोग करता येईल का?

³⁴Dost thou lift up to the cloud thy voice, And abundance of water doth cover thee?

³⁴“ईयोब, तुला मेघावर ओरडून त्यांना तुझ्यावर वर्षाव करायला भाग पाडता येईल का?

³⁵Dost thou send out lightnings, and they go And say unto thee, `Behold us?`

³⁵तुला विद्युतलतेला आज्ञा करता येईल का? ती तुझ्याकडे येऊन. ‘आम्ही आलो आहोत काय आज्ञा आहे?’ असे म्हणेल का? तुझ्या सांगण्याप्रमाणे ती तुला हवे तिथे जाईल का?

³⁶Who hath put in the inward parts wisdom? Or who hath given To the covered part understanding?

³⁶“ईयोब, लोकांना शहाणे कोण बनवतो? त्यांच्यात अगदी खोल शहाणपण कोण आणतो?

³⁷Who doth number the clouds by wisdom? And the bottles of the heavens, Who doth cause to lie down,

³⁷ईयोब, ढग मोजण्याइतका विद्वान कोण आहे? त्यांना पाऊस पाडायला कोण सांगतो?

³⁸In the hardening of dust into hardness, And clods cleave together?

³⁸त्यामुळे धुळीचा चिखल होतो आणि धुळीचे लोट एकमेकास चिकटतात.

³⁹Dost thou hunt for a lion prey? And the desire of young lions fulfil?

³⁹“ईयोब, तू सिंहासाठी अन्न शोधून आणतोस का? त्यांच्या भुकेल्या पिल्लांना तू अन्न देतोस का?

⁴⁰When they bow down in dens — Abide in a thicket for a covert?

⁴⁰ते सिंह त्यांच्या गुहेत झोपतात. ते गवतावर दबा धरुन बसतात आणि भक्ष्यावर तुटून पडतात.

⁴¹Who doth prepare for a raven his provision, When his young ones cry unto God? They wander without food.

⁴¹ईयोब, डोंब कावळ्याला कोण अन्न देतो? जेव्हा त्याची पिल्ले देवाकडे याचना करतात आणि अन्नासाठी चारी दिशा भटकतात तेव्हा त्यांना कोण अन्न पुरवितो?
