1And Bildad the Shuhite answereth and saith: —
1नंतर शूहीच्या बिल्ददने उत्तर दिले,
2Till when dost thou speak these things? And a strong wind — sayings of thy mouth?
2“तू किती वेळपर्यंत असा बोलत राहणार आहेस? तुझे शब्द सोसाट्याच्या वाऱ्यासारखे उडत आहेत.
3Doth God pervert judgment? And doth the Mighty One pervert justice?
3देव नेहमीच न्यायी असतो. तो सर्वशक्तिमान देव बरोबर असलेल्या गोष्टी कधीच बदलत नाही.
4If thy sons have sinned before Him, And He doth send them away, By the hand of their transgression,
4तुझ्या मुलांनी देवाविरुध्द काही पाप केले असेल म्हणून त्यांना देवाने शिक्षा केली.
5If thou dost seek early unto God, And unto the Mighty makest supplication,
5परंतु ईयोब, आता तू त्याच्या कडे लक्ष दे आणि त्या सर्वशक्तिमान देवाची दयेसाठी आवर्जून प्रार्थना कर.
6If pure and upright thou [art], Surely now He waketh for thee, And hath completed The habitation of thy righteousness.
6तू जर चांगला आणि पवित्र असलास तर तुला मदत करण्यासाठी तो त्वरित येईल. तुझे कुटुंब तुला परत देईल.
7And thy beginning hath been small, And thy latter end is very great.
7नंतर तुझ्याकडे सुरुवातीला होते त्यापेक्षा किती तरी अधिक असेल.
8For, ask I pray thee of a former generation, And prepare to a search of their fathers,
8“वृध्दांना त्यांचे पूर्वज काय काय शिकले ते विचार.
9(For of yesterday we [are], and we know not, For a shadow [are] our days on earth.)
9आपण अगदी कालच जन्माला आलो आहोत असे आपल्याला वाटते. सर्व जाणून घेण्याच्या दृष्टीने आपण खूप लहान आहोत. छायेप्रमाणे आपले पृथ्वीतलावरचे दिवस खूप कमी आहेत.
10Do they not shew thee — speak to thee, And from their heart bring forth words?
10तुला कदाचित् वृध्द शिकवू शकतील. ते जे शिकले तेच तुलाही शिकवतील.”
11`Doth a rush wise without mire? A reed increase without water?
11बिल्दद म्हणाला: “लव्हाळी वाळवटांत उंच वाढू शकतात का? गवत (बोरु) पाण्याशीवाय उगवू शकेल का?
12While it [is] in its budding — uncropt, Even before any herb it withereth.
12नाही, पाणी जेव्हा आटून जाते, तेव्हा तेही सुकून जातात. आणि कापून त्यांचा उपयोग ही करुन घेता येत नाही कारण ते खूपच लहान असतात.
13So [are] the paths of all forgetting God, And the hope of the profane doth perish,
13जे लोक देवाला विसरतात ते या गवतासारखे असतात. जो देवाला विसरतो त्याला आशा नसते.
14Whose confidence is loathsome, And the house of a spider his trust.
14माथा टेकवण्यासाठी त्याच्या जवळ कुठेही जागा नसते. त्याची सुरक्षितता कोळ्याच्या जाळ्यासारखी असते.
15He leaneth on his house — and it standeth not: He taketh hold on it — and it abideth not.
15तो जर कोळ्याच्या जाळ्यावर टेकला तर ते मोडेल. त्याने त्याचा आधार घेतला तरी ते त्याला आधार देऊ शकणार नाही.
16Green he [is] before the sun, And over his garden his branch goeth out.
16मनुष्य खूप पाणी व सूर्यप्रकाश मिळालेल्या वनस्पतीसारखा आहे. तिच्या फांद्या सर्व बागेत पसरतात.
17By a heap his roots are wrapped, A house of stones he looketh for.
17तिची मुळे खडकांभोवती आवळली जातात आणि खडकांवरही उगवण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात.
18If [one] doth destroy him from his place, Then it hath feigned concerning him, I have not seen thee!
18परंतु ती वनस्पती तिच्या जागेवरुन हलवली तर मरते आणि कुणालाही तिथे ती कधी होती हे कळत नाही.
19Lo, this [is] the joy of his way, And from the dust others spring up.`
19परंतु ती वनस्पती आनंदी असते कारण तिच्याच जागी दुसरी वनस्पतीवाढत असते.
20Lo, God doth not reject the perfect, Nor taketh hold on the hand of evil doers.
20देव निरागस लोकांना सोडून देत नाही. तो वाईट माणसांना मदतही करत नाही.
21While he filleth with laughter thy mouth, And thy lips with shouting,
21देव तुझे तोंड हास्याने भरुन टाकेल आणि तुझे ओठ आनंदी चित्कारांनी!
22Those hating thee do put on shame, And the tent of the wicked is not!
22पण तुझे शत्रू मात्र लज्जेची वस्त्रे घालतील आणि दुष्ट माणसांची घरे नष्ट होतील.”
