1My son! keep my sayings, And my commands lay up with thee.
1मुला, माझे शब्द लक्षात ठेव. मी देतो त्या आज्ञा विसरु नकोस.
2Keep my commands, and live, And my law as the pupil of thine eye.
2माझ्या आज्ञा पाळ म्हणजे तुला जीवन मिळेल. माझ्या शिकवणुकीला तुझ्या आयुष्यातली एक महत्वाची गोष्ट बनव.
3Bind them on thy fingers, Write them on the tablet of thy heart.
3माझ्या आज्ञा आणि माझी शिकवण सदैव तुझ्याजवळ राहू दे. त्यांना तुझ्या बोटांभोवती बांध. तुझ्या हृदयावर ते कोरुन ठेव.
4Say to wisdom, `My sister Thou [art].` And cry to understanding, `Kinswoman!`
4शहाणपणाला बहिणीसारखे वागव. समजुतदारपणाला तुझ्या कुटुंबाचाच एक घटक बनव.
5To preserve thee from a strange woman, From a stranger who hath made smooth her sayings.
5नंतर ते तुझा दुसऱ्या स्त्रीपासून बचाव करतील. ते तुला तिच्या पापाकडे नेणाऱ्या गोड शब्दांपासून वाचवतील.
6For, at a window of my house, Through my casement I have looked out,
6एक दिवस मी माझ्या खिडकीतून पाहिले आणि मला
7And I do see among the simple ones, I discern among the sons, A young man lacking understanding,
7बरेच मूर्ख तरुण दिसले. मला एक तरुण दिसला जो खूपच मूर्ख होता.
8Passing on in the street, near her corner, And the way [to] her house he doth step,
8त्याने वाईट स्त्रीच्या घराचा रस्ता धरला. त्याला भेटण्यासाठी ती घरातून बाहेर आली.
9In the twilight — in the evening of day, In the darkness of night and blackness.
9तेव्हा अंधार होत होता - सूर्य मावळत होता व रात्र पडायला सुरुवात झाली होती.
10And, lo, a woman to meet him — (A harlot`s dress, and watchful of heart,
10ती स्त्री त्याला भेटायला घरातून बाहेर आली. तिने वेश्येसारखा पोशाख केला होता. तिने त्याच्याबरोबर पाप करायचे ठरवले.
11Noisy she [is], and stubborn, In her house her feet rest not.
11तिला पापाची पर्वा नव्हती. तिला चांगल्या वाईटाची पर्वा नव्हती. ती कधीच घरी राहात नसे.
12Now in an out-place, now in broad places, And near every corner she lieth in wait) —
12ती नेहमी रस्त्यातून हिंडे. ती संकटांना बोलावत सर्वत्र हिंडे.
13And she laid hold on him, and kissed him, She hath hardened her face, and saith to him,
13तिने त्या तरुणाला पकडले आणि त्याचे चुंबन घेतले. लाज न वाटता ती म्हणाली,
14`Sacrifices of peace-offerings [are] by me, To-day I have completed my vows.
14“आज मी (शांत्यर्पणाची) मेजवानी दिली. मी जे द्यायचे वचन दिले होते ते सर्व मी दिले आणि अजूनही माझ्याकडे खूप अन्न उरले आहे.
15Therefore I have come forth to meet thee, To seek earnestly thy face, and I find thee.
15म्हणून मी तुला माझ्याकडे येण्याचे आमंत्रण देण्यासाठी बाहेर आले. मी तुलाच शोधत होते. आणि आता तू मला सापडलास.
16[With] ornamental coverings I decked my couch, Carved works — cotton of Egypt.
16मी माझ्या अंथरुणावर स्वच्छ चादर टाकली आहे. त्या मिसर देशातल्या सुंदर चादरी आहेत.
17I sprinkled my bed — myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
17मी माझ्या अंथरुणावर अत्तर शिंपडले आहे. मी बोळ, अगरु आणि दालचिनीचा वापर केला आहे.
18Come, we are filled [with] loves till the morning, We delight ourselves in loves.
18चल, आपण सकाळ होईपर्यंत प्रेम करु या. आपण रात्रभर उपभोग घेऊ.
19For the man is not in his house, He hath gone on a long journey.
19माझा नवरा दूर गेला आहे. तो व्यवसायासाठी बाहेरगावी गेला आहे.
20A bag of money he hath taken in his hand, At the day of the new moon he cometh to his house.`
20त्याने दूरच्या प्रवासासाठी पुरेसे पैसे बरोबर घेतले आहेत. तो दोन आठवडे घरी येणार नाही.”
21She turneth him aside with the abundance of her speech, With the flattery of her lips she forceth him.
21त्या बाईने त्या तरुणाला भुलविण्यासाठी हे शब्द वापरले. तिच्या गोड बोलण्याला तो भुलला.
22He is going after her straightway, As an ox unto the slaughter he cometh, And as a fetter unto the chastisement of a fool,
22आणि तो तरुण तिच्या मागोमाग जाळ्यात गेला. तो कत्तलखान्यात नेल्या जाणाऱ्या बैलाप्रमाणे होता. शिकारी ज्याच्या हृदयात बाण सोडायला.
23Till an arrow doth split his liver, As a bird hath hastened unto a snare, And hath not known that it [is] for its life.
23तयार आहेत अशा हरिणाप्रमाणे तो होता. तो ज्या संकटात होता ते त्याला कळले नाही.
24And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And give attention to sayings of my mouth.
24मुलांनो आता माझे ऐका. माझ्या शब्दांकडे लक्ष द्या.
25Let not thy heart turn unto her ways, Do not wander in her paths,
25दुष्ट स्त्रीला तुमचा कब्जा घेऊ देऊ नका. तिच्या मार्गावरुन जाऊ नका.
26For many [are] the wounded she caused to fall, And mighty [are] all her slain ones.
26तिने खूप माणसांना पाडले आहे. तिने खूप जणांचा नाश केला आहे.
27The ways of Sheol — her house, Going down unto inner chambers of death!
27तिचे घर म्हणजे मृत्यूचा सापळा आहे. तिचा मार्ग सरळ मरणातच जातो.
