¹And Eliphaz the Temanite answereth and saith: —

¹တဖန်တေမန် အမျိုးသားဧလိဖတ်မြွက်ဆိုသည် ကား၊

²Doth a wise man answer [with] vain knowledge? And fill [with] an east wind his belly?

²ပညာရှိသောသူသည် လေနှင့်တူသော အချည်း နှီးစကားကို ပြောသင့်သလော။ မိမိဝမ်းကို အရှေ့လေ နှင့်ပြည့်စေသင့်သလော။

³To reason with a word not useful? And speeches — no profit in them?

³အကျိုးမဲ့သောစကား၊ ကျေးဇူးမပြုနိုင်သော စကားနှင့် ဆွေးနွှေးသင့်သလော။

⁴Yea, thou dost make reverence void, And dost diminish meditation before God.

⁴သင်သည် ဘုရားသခင်ကို ကြောက်ရွံ့ခြင်းအကျင့်၌ အကျိုးမရှိဟု ဆိုလို၏။ ဆိုတောင်းပဌနာပြုရာ ဝတ်ကို ဆီးတားတတ်၏။

⁵For thy mouth teacheth thine iniquity, And thou chooseth the tongue of the subtile.

⁵သင်သည်ကိုယ်နှုတ်ဖြင့် ကိုယ်အပြစ်ကို ဘော်ပြ၏။ ပရိယာယ်ပြုသော သူ၏စကားကို သုံးတတ်၏။

⁶Thy mouth declareth thee wicked, and not I, And thy lips testify against thee.

⁶ငါသည် သင့်ကိုအပြစ်မတင်၊ သင့်နှုတ်သည် သင့်ကိုအပြစ်တင်၏။ သင့်နှုတ်ခမ်းတို့သည် သင့်တဘက် ၌ သက်သေခံ၏။

⁷The first man art thou born? And before the heights wast thou formed?

⁷သင်သည် အဦးဆုံးဘွားသောလူ ဖြစ်သလော။ တောင်များကို မဖန်ဆင်းမှီ သင့်ကိုဖန်ဆင်းသလော။

⁸Of the secret counsel of God dost thou hear? And withdrawest thou unto thee wisdom?

⁸ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် တိတ်ဆိတ်စွာတိုင်ပင်ဘူး သလော။ ပညာကို ကိုယ်၌အကုန်အစင် သိမ်းထားပြီ လော။

⁹What hast thou known, and we know not? Understandest thou — and it is not with us?

⁹ငါတို့မသိ၊ သင်သိသောအရာမည်မျှရှိသနည်း။ ငါတို့၌မပါ၊ သင်နားလည်သောအရာမည်မျှရှိသနည်း။

¹⁰Both the gray-headed And the very aged [are] among us — Greater than thy father [in] days.

¹⁰သင့်အဘထက်အသက်ကြီးသောသူ၊ ဆံပင်ဖြူ သောသူတို့သည် ငါတို့တွင်ရှိကြ၏။

¹¹Too few for thee are the comforts of God? And a gentle word [is] with thee,

¹¹သင်၌ ဘုရားသခင်ပေးတော်မူသော သက်သာခြင်းအကြောင်း နည်းသလော။ သင်၌ဝှက်ထားသောအမှု တစုံတခုရှိသလော။

¹²What — doth thine heart take thee away? And what — are thine eyes high?

¹²ကိုယ်အလိုသို့လိုက်၍ အဘယ်ကြောင့် လွှဲသွားသနည်း။ အဘယ်ကြောင့် မျက်စောင်းထိုးသနည်း။

¹³For thou turnest against God thy spirit? And hast brought out words from thy mouth:

¹³သင်၏စိတ်သဘောသည် ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်ဖြစ်၍၊ နှုတ်နှင့်ပြစ်မှားပေ၏။

¹⁴What [is] man that he is pure, And that he is righteous, one born of woman?

¹⁴လူသည်အဘယ်သို့သော သူဖြစ်၍ သန့်ရှင်းနိုင်သနည်း။ မိန်းမဘွားသောသူသည် အဘယ်သို့သော သူဖြစ်၍ ဖြောင့်မတ်နိုင်သနည်း။

¹⁵Lo, in His holy ones He putteth no credence, And the heavens have not been pure in His eyes.

¹⁵ဘုရားသခင်သည် မိမိသန့်ရှင်းသူတို့ကိုပင် ယုံတော်မမူ။ ကောင်းကင်ဘုံသော်လည်းရှေ့တော်၌ မစင်ကြယ်။

¹⁶Also — surely abominable and filthy Is man drinking as water perverseness.

¹⁶သို့ဖြစ်လျှင်၊ ရေကိုသောက်သကဲ့သို့ ဒုစရိုက်အပြစ်ကို သောက်လျက်၊ ဆိုးညစ်ရွံ့ရှာဘွယ်သော လူသတ္တဝါ၌ အဘယ်ဆိုဘွယ် ရှိသနည်း။

¹⁷I shew thee — hearken to me — And this I have seen and declare:

¹⁷ငါ့စကားကို နားထောင်လော့။ တပါးအမျိုးသားနှင့် မရောနှော၊ ကိုယ်အမျိုးတမျိုးတည်းလျှင် မြေကို ပိုင်သော ပညာရှိတို့သည်၊ ဘိုးဘေးလက်ထက်မှစ၍ မထိမ်မဝှက်၊ ပြောဘူးသော အရာ၊ ငါ့ကိုယ်တိုင်မြင်သော အရာကို ငါပြသမည်။

¹⁸Which the wise declare — And have not hid — from their fathers.

²⁰ဆိုးသောသူသည် တသက်လုံး ဒုက္ခဆင်းရဲကို ခံရ၏။ ညှဉ်းဆဲဘတ်သော သူသည် မိမိအသက်အပိုင်း အခြားကို မသိရ။

¹⁹To them alone was the land given, And a stranger passed not over into their midst:

²¹သူသည် ကြောက်မက်ဘွယ်သောအသံကို ကြားလျက်နေရ၏။ စည်းစိမ်ကို ခံစားစဉ်တွင်၊ ဖျက်ဆီး သော သူသည် လာတတ်၏။

²⁰`All days of the wicked he is paining himself, And few years have been laid up for the terrible one.

²²မှောင်မိုက်ထဲမှာ ဘေးလွတ်မည်ဟု မြော်လင့် စရာမရှိ။ ထားသည့်သူ့ကို ချောင်းမြောင်းလျက်ရှိ၏။

²¹A fearful voice [is] in his ears, In peace doth a destroyer come to him.

²³စားစရာကို ရှာ၍လှည့်လည်ရ၏။ မိမိအဘို့ မှောင်မိုက်ကာလသည် အသင့်ရှိသည်ကို သိ၏။

²²He believeth not to return from darkness, And watched [is] he for the sword.

²⁴ဆင်းရဲခြင်းဒုက္ခနှင့် နာကြဉ်းခြင်းဝေဒနာတို့သည် ထိုသူကို ချောက်တတ်၏။ စစ်တိုက်ခြင်းငှါ အသင့် နေသော ရှင်ဘုရင်ကဲ့သို့ သူ့ကို နိုင်တတ်၏။

²³He is wandering for bread — `Where [is] it?` He hath known that ready at his hand Is a day of darkness.

²⁵အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူသည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ အာဏာတော်ကို ဆန်လျက်၊ အနန္တတန်ခိုးရှင်တဘက် ကနေ၍ ကိုယ်ကိုခိုင်ခံ့စေ၏။

²⁴Terrify him do adversity and distress, They prevail over him As a king ready for a boaster.

²⁶လည်ပင်းကို ဆန့်လျက်၊ ထူသောဒိုင်းပုနှင့် ဆီးကာလျက်၊ ဘုရားသခင်ကို တိုက်အံ့သောငှါ ပြေး၏။

²⁵For he stretched out against God his hand, And against the Mighty he maketh himself mighty.

²⁷မိမိမျက်နှာကို ဆူဖြိုးခြင်းနှင့် ဖုံးအုပ်၍၊ ဝမ်းပျဉ်း အသားသည်လည်း ဆူဖြိုးလျက် အတွန့်တွန့်နေ၏။

²⁶He runneth unto Him with a neck, With thick bosses of his shields.

²⁸သို့သော်လည်း လူဆိတ်ညံသောမြို့၊ အဘယ်သူ မျှမနေ။ လဲလုသော အိမ်တို့၌ သူသည်နေရ၏။

²⁷For he hath covered his face with his fat, And maketh vigour over [his] confidence.

²⁹ငွေမရတတ်ရ၊ သူ၏စည်းစိမ်မတည်ရ။ သူ၏ ဥစ္စာပစ္စည်းသည် မြေကြီးပေါ်မှာ မပြန့်ပွါးရ။

²⁸And he inhabiteth cities cut off, houses not dwelt in, That have been ready to become heaps.

³⁰သူသည် မှောင်မိုက်ဘေးနှင့်မလွတ်ရ။ မီးလျှံသည်သူ၏အခက်အလက်တို့ကို လောင်လိမ့်မည်။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ နှုတ်တော်အသက်အားဖြင့် သုတ်သင် ပယ်ရှင်းခြင်းကို ခံရ၏။

²⁹He is not rich, nor doth his wealth rise, Nor doth he stretch out on earth their continuance.

³¹အဘယ်သူမျှလှည့်စားခြင်းကိုခံ၍ အနတ္တကို မခိုလှုံစေနှင့်။ သို့မဟုတ် အနတ္တအကျိုးကို ခံရလိမ့်မည်။

³⁰He turneth not aside from darkness, His tender branch doth a flame dry up, And he turneth aside at the breath of His mouth!

³²အချိန်မစေ့မှီဆုံးခြင်းသို့ ရောက်လိမ့်မည်။ သူ၏ အခက်အလက်သည် မစိမ်းရာ။

³¹Let him not put credence in vanity, He hath been deceived, For vanity is his recompence.

³³စပျစ်နွယ်ပင်ကဲ့သို့ မိမိ၌ မမှည့်သော အသီးကို ၎င်း၊ သံလွင်ပင်ကဲ့သို့ မိမိအပွင့်ကို၎င်း ချွေရလိမ့်မည်။

³²Not in his day is it completed, And his bending branch is not green.

³⁴အဓမ္မလူ၏အသင်းသည် ဆိတ်ညံလိမ့်မည်။ တံစိုးစားသောသူတို့၏နေရာသည် မီးလောင်လိမ့်မည်။

³³He shaketh off as a vine his unripe fruit, And casteth off as an olive his blossom.

³⁵ထိုသူတို့သည်မကောင်းသောအကြံကို ပဋိသန္ဓေယူ၍ အနတ္တကိုဘွားတတ်ကြ၏။ သူတို့ဝမ်းထဲ၌မုသာကို ကိုယ်ဝန်ဆောင်တတ်သည်ဟု မြွက်ဆို၏။

³⁴For the company of the profane [is] gloomy, And fire hath consumed tents of bribery.

³⁵To conceive misery, and to bear iniquity, Even their heart doth prepare deceit.
