1Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where was Lazarus, who had died, whom he raised out of the dead;
1ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਛੇ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਯਸੂ ਬੈਤਆਨਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ (ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਭਾਰਿਆ)
2they made, therefore, to him a supper there, and Martha was ministering, and Lazarus was one of those reclining together (at meat) with him;

3Mary, therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of spikenard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and did wipe with her hair his feet, and the house was filled from the fragrance of the ointment.
3ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਨਰਦ ਦੀ ਜਢ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਅਤਰ ਦਾ ਅਧਾ ਸੇਰ ਲਿਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਡੋਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਪੂੰਝੇ। ਸਾਰਾ ਘਰ ਅਤਰ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ।
4Therefore saith one of his disciples — Judas Iscariot, of Simon, who is about to deliver him up —
4ਯਹੂਦਾ ਇਸਕਰਿਯੋਤੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ। (ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੀ) ਯਹੂਦਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ
5`Wherefore was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor?`
5“ਉਹ ਅਤਰ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸੌ ਸਿਕਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਲ੍ਲ ਦਾ ਸੀ। ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਲਨ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਇਸ ਅਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਚਕੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਸੀ।”
6and he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and what things were put in he was carrying.
6ਯਹੂਦਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਿਤ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਹ ਚੋਰ ਸੀ। ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਟੋਲੀ ਲਈ ਧਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਚਾਹਵੇ ਚੋਰੀ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
7Jesus, therefore, said, `Suffer her; for the day of my embalming she hath kept it,
7ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਰੋਕੋ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਲਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਿਉ।
8for the poor ye have always with yourselves, and me ye have not always.`
8ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ।”
9A great multitude, therefore, of the Jews knew that he is there, and they came, not because of Jesus only, but that Lazarus also they may see, whom he raised out of the dead;
9ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਜਾਣ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਬੈਤਆਨਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਆਏ। ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ।
10and the chief priests took counsel, that also Lazarus they may kill,
10ਤਾਂ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।
11because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.
11“ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਸਨ ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
12On the morrow, a great multitude that came to the feast, having heard that Jesus doth come to Jerusalem,
12ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਸਨ।
13took the branches of the palms, and went forth to meet him, and were crying, `Hosanna, blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord — the king of Israel;`
13ਉਹ ਖਜ਼ੂਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਲੈਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ; “‘ਉਸਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੋ! ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇਵੇ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।’ ਜ਼ਬੂਰ 118:25-26 ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਵੇ!”
14and Jesus having found a young ass did sit upon it, according as it is written,

15`Fear not, daughter of Sion, lo, thy king doth come, sitting on an ass` colt.`

16And these things his disciples did not know at the first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were having been written about him, and these things they did to him.
16ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਭਰਿਆ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਲਖੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
17The multitude, therefore, who are with him, were testifying that he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and did raise him out of the dead;
17ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਭਾਰਿਆ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀਡ਼ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਿਆ ਕਿ ਕ੍ਕਬਰ ਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲ ਆ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ, ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ, ਦੂਜਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
18because of this also did the multitude meet him, because they heard of his having done this sign,
18ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਇਸ ਕਰਿਸ਼ਮੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ।
19the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, `Ye see that ye do not gain anything, lo, the world did go after him.`
19ਫ਼ਿਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਦੇਖੋ! ਸਾਡੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।”
20And there were certain Greeks out of those coming up that they may worship in the feast,
20ਉਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਸਨ।
21these then came near to Philip, who [is] from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, `Sir, we wish to see Jesus;`
21ਇਹ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕ ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਗਲੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤਸੈਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਅਰਜੋਈ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਜਨਾਬ! ਅਸੀਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।”
22Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
22ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੇ ਆਕੇ ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦ੍ਰਿਯਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਿਪੁੱਸ ਨੇ ਆਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ।
23And Jesus responded to them, saying, `The hour hath come that the Son of Man may be glorified;
23ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
24verily, verily, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remaineth alone; and if it may die, it doth bear much fruit;
24ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਕਣਕ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਦਾਣਾ ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਕੇ ਨਾ ਮਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਦਾਣਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
25he who is loving his life shall lose it, and he who is hating his life in this world — to life age-during shall keep it;
25ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਲਵੇਗਾ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਮਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ ਬਚਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ।
26if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me — honour him will the Father.
26ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਗਰ ਚੱਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ, ਜਿਥੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਿਤਾ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
27`Now hath my soul been troubled, and what? shall I say — Father, save me from this hour? — but because of this I came to this hour;
27“ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਮਈ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਕਹਾਂ, ‘ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦੀ ਘਡ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ?’ ਨਹੀਂ! ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
28Father, glorify Thy name.` There came, therefore, a voice out of the heaven, `I both glorified, and again I will glorify [it];`
28ਓ ਪਿਤਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਬਣਾ!” ਫ਼ਿਰ ਸੁਰਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਆਈ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਮਾਮਈ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ।”
29the multitude, therefore, having stood and heard, were saying that there hath been thunder; others said, `A messenger hath spoken to him.`
29ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਥੇ ਖਡ਼ੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਗਡ਼ਗਡ਼ਾਹਟ ਸੀ।” ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।”
30Jesus answered and said, `Not because of me hath this voice come, but because of you;
30ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਮੇਰੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
31now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth;
31ਹੁਣ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
32and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.`
32ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਜ੍ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਉਂ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲ ਖਿਚ੍ਚਾਂਗਾ।”
33And this he said signifying by what death he was about to die;
33ਇਹ ਆਖਕੇ, ਯਿਸੂ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਮਰੇਗਾ।
34the multitude answered him, `We heard out of the law that the Christ doth remain — to the age; and how dost thou say, That it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? who is this — the Son of Man?`
34ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਡੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜੀਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉੱਪਰ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ?”
35Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness hath not known where he goeth;
35ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ‘ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੁਝ ਹੀ ਪਲਾ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰੋ, ਤਦ ਹੇਨਰਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਘੇਰੇਗਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਿਨਖ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
36while ye have the light, believe in the light, that sons of light ye may become.` These things spake Jesus, and having gone away, he was hid from them,
36ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਚਾਨਣ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੋ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੋਂ।” ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਜਗ਼੍ਹਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲਭ ਸਕਣ।
37yet he having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in him,
37ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਿਸ਼ਮੇ ਕੀਤੇ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਖੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਪਰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।
38that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, `Lord, who gave credence to our report? and the arm of the Lord — to whom was it revealed?`
38ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਨਬੀ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਭਵਿਖਬਾਣੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ: “ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਡੇ ਸੰਡੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਕਿਸਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ? ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਕਿਸਨੇ ਵੇਖੀ?” ਯਸਾਯਾਹ 53:1
39Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,
39ਕਿਸੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
40`He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;`
40“ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਣ, ਨਾ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਆਉਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ।” ਯਸਾਯਾਹ 6:10
41these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
41ਯਸਾਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਵੇਖੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ।
42Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,
42ਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਆਗੂ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਕੇ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਡਰ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
43for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
43ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
44And Jesus cried and said, `He who is believing in me, doth not believe in me, but in Him who sent me;
44ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
45and he who is beholding me, doth behold Him who sent me;
45ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਸਤਵਿਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
46I a light to the world have come, that every one who is believing in me — in the darkness may not remain;
46ਮੈਂ ਚਾਨਣ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਖਦਾ, ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ।
47and if any one may hear my sayings, and not believe, I — I do not judge him, for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
47“ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ, ਸਗੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ।
48`He who is rejecting me, and not receiving my sayings, hath one who is judging him, the word that I spake, that will judge him in the last day,
48ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਨਸਫ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਬੂਲਦਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੈਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅੰਤਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
49because I spake not from myself, but the Father who sent me, He did give me a command, what I may say, and what I may speak,
49ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੋਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਉਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਸਿਖਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
50and I have known that His command is life age-during; what, therefore, I speak, according as the Father hath said to me, so I speak.`
50ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਸਬਦ ਮੈਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
