1Seeing that many did take in hand to set in order a narration of the matters that have been fully assured among us,
1ਪਿਆਰੇ ਥਿਉਫ਼ਿਲੁਸ, ਜੋ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਵਾਪਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
2as they did deliver to us, who from the beginning became eye-witnesses, and officers of the Word, —
2ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁਢੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਵਾਪਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਖ੍ਖੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
3it seemed good also to me, having followed from the first after all things exactly, to write to thee in order, most noble Theophilus,
3ਮਾਣ ਯੋਗ ਥਿਉਫ਼ਿਲੁਸ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਸਭ ਕਾਸੇ ਦਾ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਰਮਵਾਰ ਦੱਸਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ।
4that thou mayest know the certainty of the things wherein thou wast instructed.
4ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕੋਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ।
5There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest, by name Zacharias, of the course of Abijah, and his wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elisabeth;
5ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਹੇਰੋਦੇਸ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਥੇ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨਾਉਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਅਬੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।
6and they were both righteous before God, going on in all the commands and righteousnesses of the Lord blameless,
6ਉਹ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੂਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਉਹ ਦੋਨੋ ਜਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਰਹਿਤ ਸਨ।
7and they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and both were advanced in their days.
7ਪਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਔਲਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਬਾਂਝ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਸਨ।
8And it came to pass, in his acting as priest, in the order of his course before God,
8ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਾ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਪਸਥਿਤ ਸੀ।
9according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot was to make perfume, having gone into the sanctuary of the Lord,
9ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਰਿਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਪਰਚੀਆਂ ਪਾਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਕੇ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
10and all the multitude of the people were praying without, at the hour of the perfume.
10ਜਿਸ ਵਕਤ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੀ, ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕਠ੍ਠੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
11And there appeared to him a messenger of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of the perfume,
11ਤਦ ਜ਼ਕਰ੍ਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਧੂਪ ਦੀ ਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਦਿਖਿਆ।
12and Zacharias, having seen, was troubled, and fear fell on him;
12ਜਦੋਂ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ।
13and the messenger said unto him, `Fear not, Zacharias, for thy supplication was heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear a son to thee, and thou shalt call his name John,
13ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਡਰ ਨਾ! ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਰੱਖੀਂ।
14and there shall be joy to thee, and gladness, and many at his birth shall joy,
14ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
15for he shall be great before the Lord, and wine and strong drink he may not drink, and of the Holy Spirit he shall be full, even from his mother`s womb;
15ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਅ ਜਾਂ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਕੁਖੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
16and many of the sons of Israel he shall turn to the Lord their God,
16ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ।
17and he shall go before Him, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn hearts of fathers unto children, and disobedient ones to the wisdom of righteous ones, to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared.`
17ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਖੁਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਚਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ।”
18And Zacharias said unto the messenger, `Whereby shall I know this? for I am aged, and my wife is advanced in her days?`
18ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਦ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਬੁਢੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ।”
19And the messenger answering said to him, `I am Gabriel, who have been standing near before God, and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to proclaim these good news to thee,
19ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਇਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਜ਼ਿਬਰਾਏਲ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਖੁਸ਼-ਖਬਰੀ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
20and lo, thou shalt be silent, and not able to speak, till the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou didst not believe my words, that shall be fulfilled in their season.`
20ਹੁਣ ਸੁਣ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਤੂੰ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ, ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।”
21And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and wondering at his tarrying in the sanctuary,
21ਬਾਹਰ ਲੋਕ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੰਨਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਲਾਇਆ।
22and having come out, he was not able to speak to them, and they perceived that a vision he had seen in the sanctuary, and he was beckoning to them, and did remain dumb.
22ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ।
23And it came to pass, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he went away to his house,
23ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਿਸ ਮੁਡ਼ ਆਇਆ।
24and after those days, his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying —
24ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੰਜ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾ ਗਈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ,
25`Thus hath the Lord done to me, in days in which He looked upon [me], to take away my reproach among men.`
25“ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵੇਖੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਾਂਝ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਕਲੰਕ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।” ਕੁਆਰੀ ਮਰਿਯਮ
26And in the sixth month was the messenger Gabriel sent by God, to a city of Galilee, the name of which [is] Nazareth,

27to a virgin, betrothed to a man, whose name [is] Joseph, of the house of David, and the name of the virgin [is] Mary.

28And the messenger having come in unto her, said, `Hail, favoured one, the Lord [is] with thee; blessed [art] thou among women;`
28ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਕੁਡ਼ੀ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੋਵੇ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਹੈ।”
29and she, having seen, was troubled at his word, and was reasoning of what kind this salutation may be.
29ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣੇ, ਉਹ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਈ। ਉਹ ਸੋਚਣ ਲੱਗੀ, “ਇਸ ਸ਼ੁਭਕਾਮਨਾ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਅਰਥ ਹੋਇਆ।”
30And the messenger said to her, `Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God;
30ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮਰਿਯਮ, ਤੂੰ ਘਬਰਾ ਨਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ।
31and lo, thou shalt conceive in the womb, and shalt bring forth a son, and call his name Jesus;
31ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖ! ਤੂੰ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਂਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਰੱਖਣਾ।
32he shall be great, and Son of the Highest he shall be called, and the Lord God shall give him the throne of David his father,
32ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਅੱਤ ਉਚ੍ਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਖਣਗੇ। ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਤਖਤ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
33and he shall reign over the house of Jacob to the ages; and of his reign there shall be no end.`
33ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਖਤਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”
34And Mary said unto the messenger, `How shall this be, seeing a husband I do not know?`
34ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ? ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਅਜੇ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਹਾਂ!”
35And the messenger answering said to her, `The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee, therefore also the holy-begotten thing shall be called Son of God;
35ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤ ਉਚ੍ਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਛਾਈ ਢਾਲੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਾਲਕ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਹਾਵੇਗਾ।
36and lo, Elisabeth, thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her who was called barren;
36ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣ, ਤੇਰੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਵੀ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਬੁਢੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਔਰਤ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਬਾਂਝ ਆਖਦੇ ਸਨ, ਇਸਨੂੰ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਨੂੰ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ!
37because nothing shall be impossible with God.`
37ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਅਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”
38And Mary said, `Lo, the maid-servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to thy saying,` and the messenger went away from her.
38ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹਾਂ ਸੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਰੇ!” ਤਦ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
39And Mary having arisen in those days, went to the hill-country, with haste, to a city of Judea,
39ਮਰਿਯਮ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਪਹਾਡ਼ੀ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਈ।
40and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
40ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾ ਵਡ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
41And it came to pass, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe did leap in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
41ਜਦੋਂ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਨੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਭਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਕੁਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਚ੍ਚ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
42and spake out with a loud voice, and said, `Blessed [art] thou among women, and blessed [is] the fruit of thy womb;
42ਉਸਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਬਾਲਕ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ।
43and whence [is] this to me, that the mother of my Lord might come unto me?
43ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਭਾਗ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ!
44for, lo, when the voice of thy salutation came to my ears, leap in gladness did the babe in my womb;
44ਮੈਂ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਨਸੀਬ ਹਾਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਕੁਖ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਛਲ ਪਿਆ।
45and happy [is] she who did believe, for there shall be a completion to the things spoken to her from the Lord.`
45ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ! ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ, ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਹੀਆਂ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।”
46And Mary said, `My soul doth magnify the Lord,
46ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
47And my spirit was glad on God my Saviour,
47“ਮੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ।
48Because He looked on the lowliness of His maid-servant, For, lo, henceforth call me happy shall all the generations,
48ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਾਸੀ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹਾਂ, ਹੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਸਭ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਣਗੇ,
49For He who is mighty did to me great things, And holy [is] His name,
49ਕਿਉਂਕਿ, ਇਸ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
50And His kindness [is] to generations of generations, To those fearing Him,
50ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਲਾਦਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
51He did powerfully with His arm, He scattered abroad the proud in the thought of their heart,
51ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਿਖਾਈ। ਉਸਨੇ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਿੰਡਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
52He brought down the mighty from thrones, And He exalted the lowly,
52ਉਸਨੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਦੀਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਉਠਾਇਆ।
53The hungry He did fill with good, And the rich He sent away empty,
53ਉਸਨੇ ਭੁਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥੀ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
54He received again Israel His servant, To remember kindness,
54ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੀਏ।
55As He spake unto our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed — to the age.`
55ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ, ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਉਲਾਦਾਂ, ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਵਚਨ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
56And Mary remained with her about three months, and turned back to her house.
56ਮਰਿਯਮ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਨਾਲ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੁ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਘਰ ਮੁਡ਼ ਆਈ।
57And to Elisabeth was the time fulfilled for her bringing forth, and she bare a son,
57ਜਦੋਂ ਇਲੀਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਜਣਨ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਤ੍ਤਾ।
58and the neighbours and her kindred heard that the Lord was making His kindness great with her, and they were rejoicing with her.
58ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਯਾ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ।
59And it came to pass, on the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child, and they were calling him by the name of his father, Zacharias,
59ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਲਕ ਅਠਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਰੱਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਸੀ।
60and his mother answering said, `No, but he shall be called John.`
60ਪਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਨਹੀਂ! ਉਹ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਸਦਵਾਏਗਾ।
61And they said unto her — `There is none among thy kindred who is called by this name,`
61ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨਾਉਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।”
62and they were making signs to his father, what he would wish him to be called,
62ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਵੱਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ “ਉਹ ਉਸਦਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਉਂ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ?”
63and having asked for a tablet, he wrote, saying, `John is his name;` and they did all wonder;
63ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਮੰਗਵਾਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਿ, ‘ਇਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਹੈ।” ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ।
64and his mouth was opened presently, and his tongue, and he was speaking, praising God.
64ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਢਿਲੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
65And fear came upon all those dwelling around them, and in all the hill-country of Judea were all these sayings spoken of,
65ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਂਢੀ-ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਾਡ਼ੀ ਖੇਤ੍ਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ।
66and all who heard did lay them up in their hearts, saying, `What then shall this child be?` and the hand of the Lord was with him.
66ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਬੱਚਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?” ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਉਸ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।
67And Zacharias his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and did prophesy, saying,
67ਤਦ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਕਿ ਭਵਿਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ:
68`Blessed [is] the Lord, the God of Israel, Because He did look upon, And wrought redemption for His people,
68:ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
69And did raise an horn of salvation to us, In the house of David His servant,
69ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
70As He spake by the mouth of His holy prophets, Which have been from the age;
70ਉਸਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਉਸ ਵਾਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਉਸਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
71Salvation from our enemies, And out of the hand of all hating us,
71ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
72To do kindness with our fathers, And to be mindful of His holy covenant,
72ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਵਾਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ।
73An oath that He sware to Abraham our father,
73ਉਸਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ, ਸਾਡੇ ਪੂਰਵਜ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ
74To give to us, without fear, Out of the hand of our enemies having been delivered,
74ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਦੁਆਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹੋਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਏ
75To serve Him, in holiness and righteousness Before Him, all the days of our life.
75ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ।
76And thou, child, Prophet of the Highest Shalt thou be called; For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, To prepare His ways.
76ਹੇ ਬਾਲਕ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਅੱਤ ਉਚ੍ਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਨਬੀ ਅਖਵਾਏਂਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਰਾਹ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।
77To give knowledge of salvation to His people In remission of their sins,
77ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇਂਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਫ਼ੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਚਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
78Through the tender mercies of our God, In which the rising from on high did look upon us,
78ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਦਯਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ, ਇੱਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਵੇਗੀ।
79To give light to those sitting in darkness and death-shade, To guide our feet to a way of peace.`
79ਇਹ ਨਵੀਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਚਮਕੇਗੀ ਜੋ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਕਦਮ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਵਧ ਸਕਣ।”
80And the child grew, and was strengthened in spirit, and he was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
80ਇਉਂ ਉਹ ਛੋਟਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਬਣਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੀਕਰ, ਉਜਾਡ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ।
