1And it came to pass in those days, there went forth a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world be enrolled —
1ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਔਗੁਸਤੁਸ ਕੈਸਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਮ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਰਦੁਮ-ਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਾਉਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।
2this enrollment first came to pass when Cyrenius was governor of Syria —
2ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਮਰਦੁਮ-ਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਸੂਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਕੁਰੇਨਯੁਸ ਸੀ।
3and all were going to be enrolled, each to his proper city,
3ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ।
4and Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because of his being of the house and family of David,
4ਤਾਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਗਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਦੇ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਨਗਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਨਗਰ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਉਥੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।
5to enroll himself with Mary his betrothed wife, being with child.
5ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਲਈ ਮੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਸੀ।
6And it came to pass, in their being there, the days were fulfilled for her bringing forth,
6ਜਦੋਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੂਤ ਪੀਡ਼ਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈਆਂ।
7and she brought forth her son — the first-born, and wrapped him up, and laid him down in the manger, because there was not for them a place in the guest-chamber.
7ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬਕਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਕੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰਾ ਖੁਆਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਉਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਖੁਰਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
8And there were shepherds in the same region, lodging in the field, and keeping the night-watches over their flock,
8ਉਸੇ ਰਾਤ, ਉਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਆਜਡ਼ੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
9and lo, a messenger of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they feared a great fear.
9ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਆਜਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਆਕੇ ਖਢ਼ਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰੇ ਚਮਕੀ ਤਾਂ ਆਜਡ਼ੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਗਏ।
10And the messenger said to them, `Fear not, for lo, I bring you good news of great joy, that shall be to all the people —
10ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਡਰੋ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਖਬਰੀ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ।
11because there was born to you to-day a Saviour — who is Christ the Lord — in the city of David,
11ਖੁਸ਼ ਖਬਰੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤੇ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਸੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ।
12and this [is] to you the sign: Ye shall find a babe wrapped up, lying in the manger.`
12ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਰਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਾਵੋਗੇ।”
13And suddenly there came with the messenger a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying,
13ਉਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦੂਤ ਕੋਲ ਖਢ਼ੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ:
14`Glory in the highest to God, and upon earth peace, among men — good will.`
14“ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ।”
15And it came to pass, when the messengers were gone away from them to the heavens, that the men, the shepherds, said unto one another, `We may go over indeed unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that hath come to pass, that the Lord did make known to us.`
15ਦੂਤ ਆਜਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸੁਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁਡ਼ ਗਏ। ਆਜਡ਼ੀ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਆਓ ਹੁਣ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲੀਏ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੀਏ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।”
16And they came, having hasted, and found both Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger,
16ਉਹ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਰਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
17and having seen, they made known abroad concerning the saying spoken to them concerning the child.
17ਜਦੋਂ ਆਜਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੈਲਾਇਆ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਇਸ ਬਾਲਕ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
18And all who heard, did wonder concerning the things spoken by the shepherds unto them;
18ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਜਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਹੈਰਾਨ ਸਨ।
19and Mary was preserving all these things, pondering in her heart;
19ਪਰ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੋਚਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
20and the shepherds turned back, glorifying and praising God, for all those things they heard and saw, as it was spoken unto them.
20ਆਜਡ਼ੀ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੇਖ-ਸੁਣਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁਡ਼ ਗਏ। ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
21And when eight days were fulfilled to circumcise the child, then was his name called Jesus, having been so called by the messenger before his being conceived in the womb.
21ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਲਕ ਅਠਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਿਸੂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਦੀ ਕੁਖ ਚੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
22And when the days of their purification were fulfilled, according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present to the Lord,
222ਜਦੋਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਸ਼ੁਧ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਏ।
23as it hath been written in the Law of the Lord, — `Every male opening a womb shall be called holy to the Lord,`
23ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ, “ਹਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮਿਆਂ ਨਰ ਬੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।’
24and to give a sacrifice, according to that said in the Law of the Lord, `A pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons.`
24ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ, “ਦੋ ਘੁੱਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਜੋਡ਼ਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਦੋ ਕਬੂਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲੀਦਾਨ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਤਾਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਵੀ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਲਈ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
25And lo, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name [is] Simeon, and this man is righteous and devout, looking for the comforting of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him,
25ਉਥੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਮਓਨ ਨਾਉਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਧਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਇਸ ਉਡੀਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਾ ਸੀ।
26and it hath been divinely told him by the Holy Spirit — not to see death before he may see the Christ of the Lord.
26ਸਿਮਓਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ੍ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
27And he came in the Spirit to the temple, and in the parents bringing in the child Jesus, for their doing according to the custom of the law regarding him,
27ਸਿਮਓਨ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਏ।
28then he took him in his arms, and blessed God, and he said,
28ਸਿਮਓਨ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ:
29`Now Thou dost send away Thy servant, Lord, according to Thy word, in peace,
29“ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਚਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ।
30because mine eyes did see Thy salvation,
30ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਖ੍ਖੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
31which Thou didst prepare before the face of all the peoples,
31ਤੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
32a light to the uncovering of nations, and the glory of Thy people Israel.`
32ਇਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਗੈਰ-ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਦਰਸਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜੋਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਹੈ।”
33And Joseph and his mother were wondering at the things spoken concerning him,
33ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ, ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜੋ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਸੁਣਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ।
34and Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, `Lo, this [one] is set for the falling and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against —
34ਤਦ ਸਿਮਓਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸ ਬਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਡਿੱਗਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਠਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
35(and also thine own soul shall a sword pass through) — that the reasonings of many hearts may be revealed.`
35ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਦਰਦ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ।”
36And there was Anna, a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, she was much advanced in days, having lived with an husband seven years from her virginity,
36ਅਨ੍ਨਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀਆ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਫ਼ਨੂਏਲ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਸੀ।
37and she [is] a widow of about eighty-four years, who did depart not from the temple, with fasts and supplications serving, night and day,
37ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਉਹ 84 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਛਡਿਆ। ਉਹ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ-ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦੀ।
38and she, at that hour, having come in, was confessing, likewise, to the Lord, and was speaking concerning him, to all those looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
38ਉਸੇ ਵਕਤ ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲਕ ਬਾਰੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦਾ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਕਰੇ।
39And when they finished all things, according to the Law of the Lord, they turned back to Galilee, to their city Nazareth;
39ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਯਮ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਗਲੀਲ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਗਰ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਏ।
40and the child grew and was strengthened in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
40ਬਾਲਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ।
41And his parents were going yearly to Jerusalem, at the feast of the passover,
41ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
42and when he became twelve years old, they having gone up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast,
42ਜਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਾਵਤ ਤੇ ਗਏ।
43and having finished the days, in their returning the child Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and Joseph and his mother did not know,
43ਜਦੋਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਵਾਪਸ ਘਰ ਪਰਤ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਲਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਠਹਿਰ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ।
44and, having supposed him to be in the company, they went a day`s journey, and were seeking him among the kindred and among the acquaintances,
44ਇਹ ਸੋਚਕੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲਭਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ।
45and not having found him, they turned back to Jerusalem seeking him.
45ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲਭ ਸਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਲਭਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
46And it came to pass, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them and questioning them,
46ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੁਛਦਿਆਂ ਲਭਿਆ।
47and all those hearing him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
47ਸਭ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ-ਜਵਾਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
48And, having seen him, they were amazed, and his mother said unto him, `Child, why didst thou thus to us? lo, thy father and I, sorrowing, were seeking thee.`
48ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ। ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਝ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ? ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਮੰਦ ਸਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਲਭ ਰਹੇ ਸਾਂ।”
49And he said unto them, `Why [is it] that ye were seeking me? did ye not know that in the things of my Father it behoveth me to be?`
49ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਲਭ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ।”
50and they did not understand the saying that he spake to them,
50ਪਰ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕੇ।
51and he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and he was subject to them, and his mother was keeping all these sayings in her heart,
51ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਸਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ।
52and Jesus was advancing in wisdom, and in stature, and in favour with God and men.
52ਯਿਸੂ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਧਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਸੀ।
