21

1`And these [are] the judgments which thou dost set before them:
1Huchiin hiaite vaihawmna a ma ua na ngak dingte ahi uh.
2`When thou buyest a Hebrew servant — six years he doth serve, and in the seventh he goeth out as a freeman for nought;
2Hebru sikha na lei leh, kum guk na a sep ding: a kum sagihnaah bangmah louin nuamlenin a pawt khe ding.
3if by himself he cometh in, by himself he goeth out; if he [is] owner of a wife, then his wife hath gone out with him;
3Amah tuma honglut leh, amahtumin a pawt khe ding: ji a nei a hihleh, huchiin a jiin amah a jui khe ding.
4if his lord give to him a wife, and she hath borne to him sons or daughters — the wife and her children are her lord`s, and he goeth out by himself.
4A puin ji apiaka, tapate hiam tanute hiam a neihsak leh, ji leh a tate a pua ahi ding ua, amah tumin a pawt khe ding.
5`And if the servant really say: I have loved my lord, my wife, and my sons — I do not go out free;
5Sikhain teltaka, Ka pu ka it, ka ji, leh ka tate ka it; nuamlenin ka pawt khe kei ding, a chileh:
6then hath his lord brought him nigh unto God, and hath brought him nigh unto the door, or unto the side-post, and his lord hath bored his ear with an awl, and he hath served him — to the age.
6Huchiin a puin vaihawmte kiangah amah a pi dia; kongkhak chiangah hiam kongkhak khuam chiangah hiam a pi ding; huan a puin vuhnain a bil a vut pailet ding; huchiin aman a pu na a sem tawntung ding.
7`And when a man selleth his daughter for a handmaid, she doth not go out according to the going out of the men-servants;
7Huan pasalin a tanu sikhanu dingin juak leh, sikhapate bangin a pai khe keiding.
8if evil in the eyes of her lord, so that he hath not betrothed her, then he hath let her be ransomed; to a strange people he hath not power to sell her, in his dealing treacherously with her.
8Amah khampa a pu a lungkimsak keileh, a tansak ding hi: a lakah kheltat takin a hihta chih theiin, melmak nam kianga juak dingin thuneihna a neikei.
9`And if to his son he betroth her, according to the right of daughters he doth to her.
9Huan a tapa dinga a kham leh, tanute bawl dandanin amah a bawl ding hi.
10`If another [woman] he take for him, her food, her covering, and her habitation, he doth not withdraw;
10Zi dang a neihsak leh; a annek, a puansilh, leh a kitenna man a sukniam louh ding.
11and if these three he do not to her, then she hath gone out for nought, without money.
11Huan a tunga hiai thumte a hih keileh, sum leh pai louin amah nuamlenin, a pawt khe ding hi.
12`He who smiteth a man so that he hath died, is certainly put to death;
12A sihna dinga, mi vua peuhmah, sih sak ngeingei ding ahi.
13as to him who hath not laid wait, and God hath brought to his hand, I have even set for thee a place whither he doth flee.
13Huchiin min buk kei henla, Pathianin amah a khut ah tankhe zota leh, huchi a hihin a taina ding mun ka honseh sak ding hi.
14`And when a man doth presume against his neighbour to slay him with subtilty, from Mine altar thou dost take him to die.
14Ahihhangin zekhema amah hihlum dingin, mi a insakinkhang tungah maingal takin honggamta leh; a sihna dingin, amah ka maitam akipanin na la ding hi.
15`And he who smiteth his father or his mother is certainly put to death.
15Huan kuapeuhmahin a pa hiam, a nu hiam vua leh, sihsak ngeingei ding ahi.
16`And he who stealeth a man, and hath sold him, and he hath been found in his hand, is certainly put to death.
16Huan kuapeuhin mi guin, juak leh, a hihkeileh a khuta muh khiakin om leh, amah sihsak ngeingei ding ahi.
17`And he who is reviling his father or his mother is certainly put to death.
17Huan kuapeuhin a pa hiam, a nu hiam hamsiatlohta leh sihsak ngeingei ding ahi.
18`And when men contend, and a man hath smitten his neighbour with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but hath fallen on the bed;
18Huan mite kisual uhenla, khatin khat suangin deng hiam, a khuttum hiamin tum henla, si louin, lupna ngak ta leh;
19if he rise, and hath gone up and down without on his staff, then hath the smiter been acquitted; only his cessation he giveth, and he is thoroughly healed.
19Thou nawnin, chiangkhun khunin kholak vak leh, a vawpa a hul dia; a hun sukbei man a pe dinga, amah a dam siang sak sipsip ding hi.
20`And when a man smiteth his man-servant or his handmaid, with a rod, and he hath died under his hand — he is certainly avenged;
20Min a sikhapa hiam, a sikhanu hiam chiangin vua henla, a khut lumin sileh: amah gawt ngeingei ding ahi.
21only if he remain a day, or two days, he is not avenged, for he [is] his money.
21Ahihhang in nikhat hiam ni nih hiam apaisuak leh, gawt louh ding ahi: amah sum leh pai ahih jiakin
22`And when men strive, and have smitten a pregnant woman, and her children have come out, and there is no mischief, he is certainly fined, as the husband of the woman doth lay upon him, and he hath given through the judges;
22Mite kisualin, numei naunei hihnain, amaha kipanin a gah paihkhiain, a hihhangin siatnain jui kei leh: numeinu pasalin a tunga a chihbangbanga amah gawt ngeingei ding; vaihawmten a lep bang ua a liau ding ahi.
23and if there is mischief, then thou hast given life for life,
23Huan siatna mawngmawngin juita leh, huchiin hin tanga hin a piak ding ahi.
24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
24Mit tanga mit, ha tanga ha, khut tanga khut, khe tanga khe,
25burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
25Hal tanga, hal, liam tanga liam, pawn tanga pawn.
26`And when a man smiteth the eye of his man-servant, or the eye of his handmaid, and hath destroyed it, as a freeman he doth send him away for his eye;
26Min a sikha mit hiam, a sikha nu mit hiam suk sakin, seta leh: a mit jiakin nuamlenin a khah ding ahi.
27and if a tooth of his man-servant or a tooth of his handmaid he knock out, as a freeman he doth send him away for his tooth.
27Huan a sikhapa ha hiam, a sikhanu ha hiam sukhe taleh; a ha jiakin nuamlenin amah a khah ding ahi.
28`And when an ox doth gore man or woman, and they have died, the ox is certainly stoned, and his flesh is not eaten, and the owner of the ox [is] acquitted;
28Bawngtalin pasal hiam numei hiam siin, si leh uh: huchiin bawngtal denlup ngeingei ding ahi, huan a sa nek louh hial ding: ahihhangin a bawngtal neipen a hul ding.
29and if the ox is [one] accustomed to gore heretofore, and it hath been testified to its owner, and he doth not watch it, and it hath put to death a man or woman, the ox is stoned, and its owner also is put to death.
29Ahihhangin huai bawngtal a malamin a kia phut hat na hitaleh, a neipen kianga hilhsa hiin, amah khumta keileh, himahleh pasal hiam numei hiam na thatta leh; bawngtal den lup ding ahia, a neipen leng sihsak ding ahi.
30`If atonement is laid upon him, then he hath given the ransom of his life, according to all that is laid upon him;
30A tungah dangka sum kikoih leh, huan a tunga kikoih peuhpeuh a hinna tatna man din a pe ding.
31whether it gore a son or gore a daughter, according to this judgment it is done to him.
31Tapa hiam, tanu hiam na nasita leh, hiai vaihawmna bangin a tunga hih ding ahi.
32`If the ox gore a man-servant or a handmaid, thirty silver shekels he doth give to their lord, and the ox is stoned.
32Bawngtalin sikhapa hiam sikhanu hiam phu leh; a pu uh kiangah dangka sekel sawmthum a piak dinga, bawngtal a denlup ding uh ahi.
33`And when a man doth open a pit, or when a man doth dig a pit, and doth not cover it, and an ox or ass hath fallen thither, —
33Pasalin kokhuk bawl henla, a hih keileh pasalin kokhuk tou henla, sin kei henla, huaiah bawngtal hiam sabengtung hiam ke leh,
34the owner of the pit doth repay, money he doth give back to its owner, and the dead is his.
34Kokhuk neipenin a bawl hoiha, amau neipa kianga dangka sum a piak ding; huchiin a gan si amaha ahi ding.
35`And when a man`s ox doth smite the ox of his neighbour, and it hath died, then they have sold the living ox, and halved its money, and also the dead one they do halve;
35Mi khat bawngtalin midanga hihna henla, si leh; a bawngtal hinglai pen a juak ding ua, a sum a kihawm ding uh; huan a bawngtal sipen leng a kihawm ding uhi.Ahihkeileh a malamin huai bawngtal phut hat ahi chih a kitheiha a neiin a khum kei chih a kitheih leh; bawngtal tanga bawngtal a piak ngeingei ding; huchiin a gan si amah tuam a hih ding ahi.
36or, it hath been known that the ox is [one] accustomed to gore heretofore, and its owner doth not watch it, he certainly repayeth ox for ox, and the dead is his.
36Ahihkeileh a malamin huai bawngtal phut hat ahi chih a kitheiha a neiin a khum kei chih a kitheih leh; bawngtal tanga bawngtal a piak ngeingei ding; huchiin a gan si amah tuam a hih ding ahi.
