¹And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction,

¹Palitokea manabii wa uongo kati ya watu, na vivyo hivyo walimu wa uongo watatokea kati yenu. Watu hao wataingiza mafundisho maharibifu na kumkana Bwana aliyewakomboa, na kwa njia hiyo watasababisha ghafla maangamizi yao wenyewe.

²and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,

²Tena watu wengi watazifuata hizo njia zao mbaya, kwa sababu yao, wengine wataipuuza Njia ya ukweli.

³and in covetousness, with moulded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction doth not slumber.

³Kwa tamaa yao mbaya watajipatia faida kwa kuwaambieni hadithi za uongo. Lakini kwa muda mrefu sasa Hakimu wao yu tayari, na Mwangamizi wao yu macho!

⁴For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast [them] down to Tartarus, did deliver [them] to judgment, having been reserved,

⁴Malaika walipotenda dhambi, Mungu hakuwahurumia, bali aliwatupa katika moto wa Jehanamu ambako wamefungwa wakingojea Siku ile ya Hukumu.

⁵and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,

⁵Mungu hakuihurumia dunia ya hapo kale, bali alileta gharika kuu juu ya nchi ile ya watu wasiomcha Mungu; lakini Noa ambaye alihubiri uadilifu, Mungu alimwokoa pamoja na watu wengine saba.

⁶and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set [them];

⁶Mungu aliadhibu miji ya Sodoma na Gomora, akaiteketeza kwa moto, akaifanya iwe mfano wa mambo yatakayowapata watu wasiomcha Mungu.

⁷and righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct in lasciviousness of the impious, He did rescue,

⁷Alimwokoa Loti, mtu mwema, ambaye alisikitishwa sana na mwenendo mbaya wa watu hao waasi.

⁸for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing.

⁸Loti aliishi miongoni mwa watu hao, na kwa siku nyingi moyo wake ulikuwa katika wasiwasi mkuu aliposikia matendo yao maovu.

⁹The Lord hath known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,

⁹Kwa hiyo, basi, Bwana anajua jinsi ya kuwaokoa katika majaribu watu wanaomcha Mungu, na jinsi ya kuwaweka waovu katika adhabu hadi Siku ile ya hukumu,

¹⁰and chiefly those going behind the flesh in desire of uncleanness, and lordship despising; presumptuous, self-complacent, dignities they are not afraid to speak evil of,

¹⁰hasa wale wanaofuata tamaa mbaya za mwili na kupuuza mamlaka. Watu hao ni washupavu na wenye majivuno, huvitukana na hawaviheshimu viumbe vitukufu vya juu.

¹¹whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment;

¹¹Lakini malaika, ambao wana uwezo na nguvu zaidi kuliko hao walimu wa uongo, hawawashtaki na kuwatukana hao mbele ya Bwana.

¹²and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed — in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil — in their destruction shall be destroyed,

¹²Watu hao ambao hutukana chochote kile wasichoelewa, ni sawa na wanyama wasio na akili, ambao huzaliwa na baadaye hukamatwa na kuchinjwa! Wataangamizwa kutokana na uharibifu wao wenyewe,

¹³about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you,

¹³na watalipwa mateso kwa mateso ambayo wameyasababisha. Furaha yao ni kufanya, tena mchana kabisa, chochote kinachotosheleza anasa zao za mwili. Hao ni fedheha na aibu tupu kwa jumuiya yenu wakati wanapojiunga nanyi katika karamu zenu, bali wakifurahia njia zao za udanganyifu.

¹⁴having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse,

¹⁴Macho yao yamejaa uzinzi na uwezo wao wa kutenda dhambi hauna kikomo. Huwaongoza watu walio dhaifu mpaka mitegoni. Mioyo yao imezoea kuwa na tamaa ya mali. Wapo chini ya laana ya Mungu!

¹⁵having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the [son] of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,

¹⁵Wameiacha njia iliyonyoka, wakapotoka na kuifuata njia aliyofuata Balaamu, mwana wa Beori, ambaye alipendelea kupata faida kwa kufanya udanganyifu,

¹⁶and had a rebuke of his own iniquity — a dumb ass, in man`s voice having spoken, did forbid the madness of the prophet.

¹⁶akakaripiwa kwa ajili ya uovu wake. Punda ambaye hasemi alinena kwa sauti ya binadamu, akaukomesha wazimu wa huyo nabii.

¹⁷These are wells without water, and clouds by a tempest driven, to whom the thick gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept;

¹⁷Watu hao ni kama chemchemi zilizokauka, kama mawingu yanayopeperushwa na tufani; makao yao waliyowekewa ni mahali pa giza kuu.

¹⁸for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh — lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,

¹⁸Husema maneno ya majivuno na yasiyo na maana, na kutumia tamaa zao mbaya za kimwili kuwatega wale ambao wamejitenga hivi karibuni na watu waishio katika udanganyifu.

¹⁹liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one hath been overcome, to this one also he hath been brought to servitude,

¹⁹Huwaahidi watu wengine eti watakuwa huru, kumbe wao wenyewe ni watumwa wa upotovu--maana mtu ni mtumwa wa chochote kile kinachomtawala.

²⁰for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them hath the last things worse than the first,

²⁰Watu waliokwisha ponyoka katika upotovu wa ulimwengu kwa kupata kumjua Bwana na Mwokozi wetu Yesu Kristo, kisha wakakubali kunaswa na kutawaliwa tena na upotovu huo, hali yao itakuwa mbaya zaidi kuliko awali.

²¹for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of the righteousness, than having acknowledged [it], to turn back from the holy command delivered to them,

²¹Ingalikuwa afadhali kwao kama wasingalijua kamwe njia hiyo ya uadilifu kuliko kujua na kisha kuiacha na kupoteza amri takatifu waliyopokea.

²²and happened to them hath that of the true similitude; `A dog did turn back upon his own vomit,` and, `A sow having bathed herself — to rolling in mire.`

²²Ipo mithali isemayo: "Mbwa huyarudia matapishi yake mwenyewe," na nyingine isemayo: "Nguruwe aliyekwisha oshwa hugaagaa tena katika matope!" Ndivyo ilivyo kwao sasa.
