¹And the famine [is] severe in the land;

¹தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் கொடிதாயிருந்தது.

²and it cometh to pass, when they have finished eating the corn which they brought from Egypt, that their father saith unto them, `Turn back, buy for us a little food.`

²எகிப்திலிருந்து அவர்கள் கொண்டுவந்த தானியம் செலவழிந்தபோது, அவர்கள் தகப்பன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் திரும்பப் போய், நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தானியம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றான்.

³And Judah speaketh unto him, saying, `The man protesting protested to us, saying, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you;

³அதற்கு யூதா: உங்கள் சகோதரன் உங்களோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நீங்கள் என் முகத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று அந்த மனிதன் எங்களுக்குச் சத்தியமாய்ச் சொன்னான்.

⁴if thou art sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for thee food,

⁴எங்கள் சகோதரனை நீர் எங்களோடேகூட அனுப்பினால், நாங்கள் போய், உமக்குத் தானியம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு வருவோம்.

⁵and if thou art not sending — we do not go down, for the man said unto us, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you.`

⁵அனுப்பாவிட்டால். நாங்கள் போகமாட்டோம்; உங்கள் சகோதரன் உங்களோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நீங்கள் என் முகத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று அந்த மனிதன் எங்களோடே சொல்லியிருக்கிறான் என்றான்.

⁶And Israel saith, `Why did ye evil to me, by declaring to the man that ye had yet a brother?`

⁶அதற்கு இஸ்ரவேல்: உங்களுக்கு இன்னும் ஒரு சகோதரன் உண்டென்று நீங்கள் அந்த மனிதனுக்குச் சொல்லி, ஏன் எனக்கு இந்தத் துன்பத்தை வருவித்தீர்கள் என்றான்.

⁷and they say, `The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? and we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?`

⁷அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அந்த மனிதன், உங்கள் தகப்பன் இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறாரா? உங்களுக்கு இன்னும் ஒரு சகோதரன் உண்டா? என்று எங்களையும் எங்கள் வம்சத்தையும் குறித்து விபரமாய் விசாரித்தான்; அந்தக் கேள்விகளுக்குத் தக்கதாக உள்ளபடி அவனுக்குச் சொன்னோம்; உங்கள் சகோதரனை உங்களோடேகூட இங்கே கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்று அவன் சொல்லுவான் என்பதை நாங்கள் அறிந்திருந்தோமா என்றார்கள்.

⁸And Judah saith unto Israel his father, `Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and thou, and our infants.

⁸பின்னும், யூதா தன் தகப்பனாகிய இஸ்ரவேலை நோக்கி: நீரும் நாங்களும் எங்கள் குழந்தைகளும் சாகாமல் உயிரோடிருக்கும்படி, நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகிறோம், பிள்ளையாண்டானை என்னோடே அனுப்பும்.

⁹I — I am surety [for] him, from my hand thou dost require him; if I have not brought him in unto thee, and set him before thee — then I have sinned against thee all the days;

⁹அவனுக்காக நான் உத்தரவாதம்பண்ணுவேன்; அவனை என்னிடத்திலே கேளும், நான் அவனை உம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து, உமக்கு முன்பாக நிறுத்தாமற்போனால், எந்நாளும் அந்தக் குற்றம் என்மேல் இருப்பதாக.

¹⁰for if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.`

¹⁰நாங்கள் தாமதியாதிருந்தோமானால், இதற்குள்ளே இரண்டாந்தரம் போய்த் திரும்பி வந்திருப்போமே என்றான்.

¹¹And Israel their father saith unto them, `If so, now, this do: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;

¹¹அதற்கு அவர்கள் தகப்பனாகிய இஸ்ரவேல்: அப்படியானால், ஒன்று செய்யுங்கள்; இந்த தேசத்தின் உச்சிதமான வஸ்துக்களில் கொஞ்சம் பிசின் தைலமும், கொஞ்சம் தேனும், கந்தவர்க்கங்களும், வெள்ளைப்போளமும், தெரபிந்து கொட்டைகளும், வாதுமைக்கொட்டைகளும் உங்கள் சாக்குகளில் போட்டு, அந்த மனிதனுக்குக் காணிக்கையாகக் கொண்டுபோய்க் கொடுங்கள்.

¹²and double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, ye take back in your hand, it may be it [is] an oversight.

¹²பணத்தை இரட்டிப்பாய் உங்கள் கைகளில் கொண்டுபோங்கள், சாக்குகளின் வாயிலே திரும்பக் கொண்டுவந்த பணத்தையும் கொண்டுபோங்கள்; அது கைப்பிசகாய் வந்திருக்கும்.

¹³`And take your brother, and rise, turn back unto the man;

¹³உங்கள் சகோதரனையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அந்த மனிதனிடத்துக்கு மறுபடியும் போங்கள்.

¹⁴and God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he hath sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved — I am bereaved.`

¹⁴அந்த மனிதன், அங்கிருக்கிற உங்கள் மற்ற சகோதரனையும் பென்யமீனையும் உங்களுடனே அனுப்பிவிடும்படிக்கு, சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவன் அவன் சமுகத்தில் உங்களுக்கு இரக்கங்கிடைக்கப்பண்ணுவாராக; நானோ பிள்ளையற்றுப் போனவனைப்போல் இருப்பேன் என்றான்.

¹⁵And the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;

¹⁵அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் காணிக்கையையும் தங்கள் கைகளில் இரட்டிப்பான பணத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, பென்யமீனையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, பிரயாணப்பட்டு, எகிப்துக்குப்போய், யோசேப்பின் சமுகத்தில் வந்து நின்றார்கள்.

¹⁶and Joseph seeth Benjamin with them, and saith to him who [is] over his house, `Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for with me do the men eat at noon.`

¹⁶பென்யமீன் அவர்களோடேகூட வந்திருக்கிறதை யோசேப்பு கண்டு, தன் வீட்டு விசாரணைக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ இந்த மனிதரை வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துப்போய், சாப்பாட்டுக்கு வேண்டியவைகளை அடித்து, ஆயத்தம்பண்ணு, மத்தியானத்திலே இந்த மனிதர் என்னோடே சாப்பிடுவார்கள் என்றான்.

¹⁷And the man doth as Joseph hath said, and the man bringeth in the men into the house of Joseph,

¹⁷அவன் தனக்கு யோசேப்பு சொன்னபடியே செய்து, அந்த மனிதரை யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனான்.

¹⁸and the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, `For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in — to roll himself upon us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants — our asses also.`

¹⁸தாங்கள் யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்படுகிறதை அவர்கள் கண்டு பயந்து, முன்னே நம்முடைய சாக்குகளில் இருந்த பணத்தினிமித்தம் நம்மேல் குற்றம் சுமத்தி, நம்மைப் பிடித்துச் சிறைகளாக்கி, நம்முடைய கழுதைகளை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும்படி நம்மைக்கொண்டுபோகிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

¹⁹And they come nigh unto the man who [is] over the house of Joseph, and speak unto him at the opening of the house,

¹⁹யோசேப்பின் வீட்டு விசாரணைக்காரனண்டையிலே சேர்ந்து, வீட்டு வாசற்படியிலே அவனோடே பேசி:

²⁰and say, `O, my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;

²⁰ஆண்டவனே, நாங்கள் தானியம் கொள்ளும்படி முன்னே வந்துபோனோமே;

²¹and it cometh to pass, when we have come in unto the lodging-place, and open our bags, that lo, each one`s money [is] in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;

²¹நாங்கள் தங்கும் இடத்தில் போய் எங்கள் சாக்குகளைத் திறந்தபோது, நாங்கள் நிறுத்துக்கொடுத்த நிறையின்படியே அவனவன் பணம் அவனவன் சாக்கின் வாயிலே இருக்கக் கண்டோம்; அதை நாங்கள் திரும்பவும் எங்கள் கையிலே கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறோம்.

²²and other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.`

²²மேலும், தானியம் கொள்ளும்படி வேறே பணமும் எங்கள் கையில் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறோம்; நாங்கள் முன் கொடுத்த பணத்தை எங்கள் சாக்குகளில் போட்டது இன்னார் என்று அறியோம் என்றார்கள்.

²³And he saith, `Peace to you, fear not: your God and the God of your father hath given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came unto me;` and he bringeth out Simeon unto them.

²³அதற்கு அவன்: உங்களுக்குச் சமாதானம்; பயப்படவேண்டாம்; உங்கள் தேவனும் உங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய தேவனுமாயிருக்கிறவர் உங்கள் சாக்குகளில் அதை உங்களுக்குப் புதையலாகக் கட்டளையிட்டார்; நீங்கள் கொடுத்த பணம் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து சேர்ந்தது என்று சொல்லி, சிமியோனை வெளியே அழைத்து வந்து, அவர்களிடத்தில் விட்டான்.

²⁴And the man bringeth in the men into Joseph`s house, and giveth water, and they wash their feet; and he giveth provender for their asses,

²⁴மேலும், அந்த மனிதன் அவர்களை யோசேப்பின் வீட்டுக்குள்ளே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்கள் தங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவும்படி தண்ணீர் கொடுத்து, அவர்களுடைய கழுதைகளுக்குத் தீவனம் போட்டான்.

²⁵and they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they do eat bread.

²⁵தாங்கள் அங்கே போஜனம் செய்யப்போகிறதை அவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டபடியால், மத்தியானத்தில் யோசேப்பு வருமளவும் காணிக்கையை ஆயத்தமாய் வைத்துக் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

²⁶And Joseph cometh into the house, and they bring to him the present which [is] in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;

²⁶யோசேப்பு வீட்டுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவர்கள் தங்கள் கையில் இருந்த காணிக்கையை வீட்டுக்குள் அவனிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோய் வைத்து, தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து, அவனை வணங்கினார்கள்.

²⁷and he asketh of them of peace, and saith, `Is your father well? the aged man of whom ye have spoken, is he yet alive?`

²⁷அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவர்கள் சுகசெய்தியை விசாரித்து, நீங்கள் சொன்ன முதிர்வயதான உங்கள் தகப்பன் சுகமாயிருக்கிறாரா? அவர் இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறாரா? என்று அவர்களிடத்தில் விசாரித்தான்.

²⁸and they say, `Thy servant our father [is] well, he is yet alive;` and they bow, and do obeisance.

²⁸அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எங்கள் தகப்பனாராகிய உமது அடியான் சுகமாயிருக்கிறார், இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறார் என்று சொல்லி, குனிந்து வணங்கினார்கள்.

²⁹And he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Benjamin his brother, his mother`s son, and saith, `Is this your young brother, of whom ye have spoken unto me?` and he saith, `God favour thee, my son.`

²⁹அவன் தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, தன் தாய் பெற்ற குமாரனாகிய தன் சகோதரன் பென்யமீனைக் கண்டு, நீங்கள் எனக்குச் சொன்ன உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் இவன்தானா என்று கேட்டு, மகனே, தேவன் உனக்குக் கிருபைசெய்யக்கடவர் என்றான்.

³⁰And Joseph hasteth, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeketh to weep, and entereth the inner chamber, and weepeth there;

³⁰யோசேப்பின் உள்ளம் தன் சகோதரனுக்காகப் பொங்கினபடியால், அவன் அழுகிறதற்கு இடம் தேடி, துரிதமாய் அறைக்குள்ளே போய், அங்கே அழுதான்.

³¹and he washeth his face, and goeth out, and refraineth himself, and saith, `Place bread.`

³¹பின்பு, அவன் தன் முகத்தைக் கழுவி வெளியே வந்து, தன்னை அடக்கிக்கொண்டு, போஜனம் வையுங்கள் என்றான்.

³²And they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it [is] an abomination to the Egyptians.

³²எகிப்தியர் எபிரெயரோடே சாப்பிடமாட்டார்கள்; அப்படிச் செய்வது எகிப்தியருக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கும்; ஆகையால், அவனுக்குத் தனிப்படவும், அவர்களுக்குத் தனிப்படவும், அவனோடே சாப்பிடுகிற எகிப்தியருக்குத் தனிப்படவும் வைத்தார்கள்.

³³And they sit before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;

³³அவனுக்கு முன்பாக, மூத்தவன் முதல் இளையவன்வரைக்கும் அவனவன் வயதின்படியே அவர்களை உட்காரவைத்தார்கள்; அதற்காக அவர்கள், ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.

³⁴and he lifteth up gifts from before him unto them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, yea, they drink abundantly with him.

³⁴அவன் தனக்குமுன் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த போஜனத்தில் அவர்களுக்குப் பங்கிட்டு அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் எல்லாருடைய பங்குகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் பென்யமீனுடைய பங்கு ஐந்துமடங்கு அதிகமாயிருந்தது; அவர்கள் பானம்பண்ணி, அவனுடனே சந்தோஷமாயிருந்தார்கள்.
