¹The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

¹Ang nahaunang basahon gibuhat ko, oh Teofilo, mahatungod sa tanang mga butang nga gisugdan ni Jesus sa pagbuhat ug pagpanudlo,

²until the day in which he was received up, after that he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

²Hangtud sa adlaw nga gibayaw siya sa kahitas-an sa tapus siya makahatag ug mga sugo, pinaagi sa Espiritu Santo sa mga apostoles, nga iyang gipili,

³To whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:

³Nga kanila usab; pinaagi sa daghang mga pagpamatuod, nagpakita siya nga buhi, sa tapus siya mag-antus nga siya napakita kanila sulod sa kap-atan ka adlaw; ug siya nagasulti kanila sa mga butang nga mahatungod sa gingharian sa Dios:

⁴and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, [said he], ye heard from me:

⁴Ug, sa nakigtigum siya uban kanila, siya nagsugo kanila nga dili sila mamahawa sa Jerusalem, kondili nga hulaton nila ang saad sa Amahan, nga matud niya, inyong hingdunggan kanako.

⁵For John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.

⁵Kay si Juan sa pagkamatuod, nagbautismo sa tubig; apan kamo pagabautismohan sa Espiritu Santo sa dili madugay sukad karon.

⁶They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

⁶Busa, sa nagatigum sila, nangutana sila kaniya, sa pag-ingon: Ginoo, pahaulion mo ba ang gingharian sa Israel niining panahona?

⁷And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority.

⁷Ug siya miingon kanila: Dili inyo ang katungod sa paghibalo sa mga panahon ug sa mga katuigan, nga gitagal sa Amahan sa iyang kaugalingong pagbulot-an;

⁸But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

⁸Apan managdawat kamo sa gahum, sa diha nga ang Espiritu Santo mokunsad kaninyo, ug mga saksi ko kamo sa Jerusalem, ug sa tibook nga Judea, ug sa Samaria, ug hangtud sa kinatumyan sa yuta.

⁹And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

⁹Ug sa nakasulti siya niini, sa nagatan-aw sila kaniya, gibayaw siya sa itaas; ug usa ka panganod midawat kaniya nga misalipod sa ilang mga mata,

¹⁰And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

¹⁰Ug sa nagatutok sila sa langit, sa mikayab siya, ania karon, duruha ka tawo mitindog sa tupad nila, nga nagbisti ug maputi.

¹¹who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.

¹¹Nga nagsulti usab kanila: Mga tawo nga Galileanhon, nganong nanagtutuk kamo sa langit? Kining Jesus nga gibayaw sa langit gikan kaninyo, mobalik sa maong pagkaagi sumala sa inyong hingkitan, siya nga nagasaka sa langit.

¹²Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh unto Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey off.

¹²Unya namauli sila sa Jerusalem, gikan sa bukid nga ginganlan Olivo, nga haduol sa Jerusalem, sa laktonon nga usa ka adlaw nga igpapahulay.

¹³And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas [the son] of James.

¹³Ug sa diha nga nahasulod na sila sa lungsod, misaka sila sa lawak nga naibabaw diin sila magapuyo: si Pedro, ug si Juan, ug si Jacobo, ug si Andres, si Felipe, ug si Tomas, si Bartolome, ug si Mateo, si Jacobo, nga anak ni Alfeo ug si Simon Zelotes, ug si Judas, igsoon ni Jacobo.

¹⁴These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

¹⁴Kini silang tanan nanagpadayon sa paghiusa sa pag-ampo, kauban sa mga babaye ug ni Maria nga inahan ni Jesus ug kauban sa iyang mga igsoon.

¹⁵And in these days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said (and there was a multitude of persons [gathered] together, about a hundred and twenty),

¹⁵Ug niadtong mga adlawa mitindog si Pedro sa taliwala sa kaigsoonan (ug may panon sa mga tawo nga nagkatigum, daw may usa ka gatus ug kaluhaan), ug nag-ingon:

¹⁶Brethren, it was needful that the Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.

¹⁶Mga igsoon, kinahanglan nga matuman gayud ang Kasulatan, nga gitagna sa Espiritu Santo, pinaagi sa baba ni David, mahatungod kang Judas nga nahimong mando sa mga nanagdakup kang Jesus.

¹⁷For he was numbered among us, and received his portion in this ministry.

¹⁷Kay siya giisip nga kauban namo ug siya nakaambit niini nga ministerio.

¹⁸(Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

¹⁸(Unya kini nakabaton ug usa ka yuta nga tumbas sa iyang pagkadilimatarung, ug sa pagkahulog niya nga nagakulob, mibuto siya sa taliwala, ug ang tanan niya nga sulod sa ginhawaan nakay-ag.

¹⁹And it became known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.)

¹⁹Ug nabantug kini sa tanang mga pumuluyo sa Jerusalem, sa pagkaagi nga kadtong yutaa ginganlan sa ilang kaugalingong pinulongan: Aceldama, nga sa ato pa, yuta sa dugo).

²⁰For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be made desolate, And let no man dwell therein: and, His office let another take.

²⁰Kay nahasulat sa basahon sa mga Salmos: Pagahuboan ang iyang puloy-anan, ug walay magpuyo kaniya; ug lain ang magkuha sa iyang katungdanan.

²¹Of the men therefore that have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us,

²¹Busa niining mga tawo nga ginakauban nato sa tanang panahon sa pagsulod ug paggula sa Ginoong Jesus sa atong kinataliwad-an,

²²beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was received up from us, of these must one become a witness with us of his resurrection.

²²Gikan pa sa bautismo ni Juan hangtud niadtong adlaw nga gibayaw siya gikan kanato, kinahanglan nga ang usa niini masaksi kauban nato sa iyang pagkabanhaw.

²³And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

²³Ug gipili nila ang duha: si Jose, nga ginganlan, Barsabas, nga ang bansagon Justo, ug si Matias.

²⁴And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show of these two the one whom thou hast chosen,

²⁴Ug nanag-ampo sila ug nanag-ingon: Ikaw, Ginoo, ang nakaila sa mga kasingkasing sa tanang tawo, ipahayag kinsa ang imong gipili niining duruha,

²⁵to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.

²⁵Aron sa pagkuha sa dapit niini nga ministerio ug sa pagkaapostol nga nakulangan tungod sa pagkahulog ni Judas, aron moadto siya sa iyang kaugalingong dapit.

²⁶And they gave lots for them; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

²⁶Ug gipapalaran sila; ug nahulog kang Matias ang kapalaran; ug giisip siya nga kauban sa napulo ug usa ka mga apostoles.
