¹And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper country came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples:

¹Ug nahitabo nga, sa didto pa si Apolos sa Corinto, si Pablo, sa nalatas na niya ang mga kayutaan nga nahaibabaw, miabut sa Efeso; ug hingkaplagan niya ang ubang mga tinon-an;

²and he said unto them, Did ye receive the Holy Spirit when ye believed? And they [said] unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether the Holy Spirit was [given].

²Ug siya miingon kanila: Nakadawat ba kamo sa Espiritu Santo, sa diha nga kamo nanagpanoo? Ug sila nanag-ingon kaniya: Wala, bisan lamang makadungog kami kong may Espiritu Santo.

³And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into John's baptism.

³Ug siya miingon kanila: Sa unsa ba diay nga gibautismohan kamo? Ug sila nanag-ingon: Sa bautismo ni Juan.

⁴And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him that should come after him, that is, on Jesus.

⁴Ug si Pablo miingon: Si Juan nagbautismo sa bautismo sa paghinulsol, nga nagapamulong sa katawohan, nga managtoo sila sa moabut sa ulahi niya, nga kong sayron, si Jesucristo.

⁵And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

⁵Busa, sa pagkadungog nila niini, gibautismohan sila sa ngalan sa Ginoong Jesus.

⁶And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

⁶Ug sa gipandungan sila ni Pablo sa iyang mga kamot, mikunsad kanila ang Espiritu Santo; ug nagsulti sila ug mga pinulongan, ug nagpanagna sila.

⁷And they were in all about twelve men.

⁷Ug sila nga tanan may napulo ug duha ka tawo.

⁸And he entered into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, reasoning and persuading [as to] the things concerning the kingdom of God.

⁸Ug misulod siya sa sinagoga, ug nagsulti nga walay kahadlok sa may tolo ka bulan; nga nagsaysay ug nagmatuod sa mga butang nga mahatungod sa gingharian sa Dios.

⁹But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

⁹Apan sa diha nga ang uban gipatig-a ug mga masupilon, nga nanagsulti ug dautan mahitungod sa Dalan sa atubangan sa panon sa katawohan, siya mibulag kanila, ug gipinig niya ang mga tinon-an, ug nagsaysay sa matag-adlaw sa tulonghaan ni Tirano.

¹⁰And this continued for the space of two years; so that all they that dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

¹⁰Ug milungtad kini sulod sa duha ka tuig, sa pagkaagi nga ang tanan nga nagapuyo sa Asia, mga Judio ug mga Greciahanon, nanagpakadungog sa pulong sa Ginoo.

¹¹And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

¹¹Ug gibuhat sa Dios ang dagku gayud nga mga katingalahan pinaagi sa mga kamot ni Pablo:

¹²insomuch that unto the sick were carried away from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the evil spirits went out.

¹²Sa pagkaagi nga gidala ang mga panyo, kun mga tampi, nga nakadapat sa iyang lawas ngadto sa mga masakiton, ug ang mga sakit mibulag gikan kanila ug nanggula kanila ang mga espiritu nga dautan.

¹³But certain also of the strolling Jews, exorcists, took upon them to name over them that had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

¹³Apan may mga libod-suroy nga mga Judio usab nga mga exorcista mingsulay paghingalan sa ngalan sa Ginoong Jesus alang niadtong may mga espiritu nga dautan, nga nagaingon: Nagsugo ako kaninyo, tungod kang Jesus nga gimantala ni Pablo.

¹⁴And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest, who did this.

¹⁴Ug dihay pito ka mga anak nga lalake ni Sceva, pangulo sa mga sacerdote nga Judio, nga nanagbuhat niini.

¹⁵And the evil spirit answered and said unto them, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye?

¹⁵Ug mitubag ang espiritu nga dautan ug miingon kanila: Nakaila ako kang Jesus, ug nakaila ako kang Pablo; apan kamo, kinsa ba kamo?

¹⁶And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and mastered both of them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹⁶Ug ang tawo nga gisauban sa dautang espiritu, midasmag kanila, ug midaug kanila, sa pagkaagi nga nanagpangalagiw sila gikan niadtong balaya nga hinuboan ug mga samaran.

¹⁷And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, that dwelt at Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹⁷Ug hingbaloan kini sa tanang mga Judio ug mga Greciahanon, nga nanagpuyo sa Efeso, ug giabut silang tanan ug kahadlok; ug gipadaku ang ngalan sa Ginoong Jesus.

¹⁸Many also of them that had believed came, confessing, and declaring their deeds.

¹⁸Daghan usab sa mga mingtoo nga nangabut, nga nanagsugid ug nanagpahayag sa ilang mga buhat.

¹⁹And not a few of them that practised magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

¹⁹Ug daghan sa mga nanaghimo ug mga salamangka nanagdala sa tingub sa ilang mga basahon, ug ilang gisunog kini sa atubangan sa tanan; ug gibilihan nila ang tanan, ug nakita nila nga may kalim-an ka libo ka denario.

²⁰So mightily grew the word of the Lord and prevailed.

²⁰Ingon niini sa dakung gahum mitubo ang pulong sa Ginoo, ug nakadaug.

²¹Now after these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

²¹Karon sa human niining mga butanga, si Pablo sa espiritu nagtinguha pag-adto sa Jerusalem, sa tapus na naka-agi siya sa Macedonia ug Acaya, nga nagaingon: Sa human sa pag-adto ko didto, kinahanglan motan-aw usab ako sa Roma.

²²And having sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.

²²Ug sa nasugo niya sa Macedonia ang duruha sa mga nagatabang kaniya, si Timoteo ug si Erasto, mipabilin siya sa hamubong panahon sa Asia.

²³And about that time there arose no small stir concerning the Way.

²³Ug niadtong panahona milutaw ang dili diyutay nga kagubot mahatungod sa Dalan.

²⁴For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Diana, brought no little business unto the craftsmen;

²⁴Kay usa ka tawo nga ginganlan si Demetrio, usa ka mananalsal sa salapi, nga nagabuhat ug mga urna nga salapi ni Diana, nagahatag ug dili diyutay nga ganancia sa mga magsasalsal.

²⁵whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this business we have our wealth.

²⁵Nga iyang gipanagtigum ang uban sa mga magbubuhat sa maong mga bulohaton, ug siya miingon kanila: Mga ginoo, nanghibalo kamo nga niini nga patigayon nagagikan ang atong bahandi.

²⁶And ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands:

²⁶Ug gitan-aw ug hingdunggan ninyo, dili lamang sa Efeso, kondili hapit sa tibook Asia, nga kini si Pablo nakalukmay ug nakapabulag sa daghang tawo, nga nagaingon nga dili mga dios ang mga binuhat sa mga kamot.

²⁷and not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana be made of no account, and that she should even be deposed from her magnificence whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

²⁷Ug dili lamang nga may peligro nga kining atong pangita pagatamayon, kondili ang templo usab sa dakung dios nga si diana, mawalay pulos, ug nga wad-on siya sa iyang pagkahalangdon, siya nga ginasimba sa tibook Asia ug sa tibook kalibutan.

²⁸And when they heard this they were filled with wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesus.

²⁸Ug sa hingdunggan nila kini, nangasuko gayud sila, ug nanagsinggit, nga nagaingon: Daku si diana sa mga taga-Efeso!

²⁹And the city was filled with the confusion: and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel.

²⁹Ug ang tibook nga ciudad napuno sa kagubot; ug midugok sila pagtingub ngadto sa teatro sa tapus nila dakpa si Gayo ug si Aristarco, mga taga-Macedonia, nga mga kauban ni Pablo sa panaw.

³⁰And when Paul was minded to enter in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.

³⁰Ug sa diha nga si Pablo buot moipon sa mga katawohan, ang iyang mga tinon-an wala motugot kaniya.

³¹And certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent unto him and besought him not to adventure himself into the theatre.

³¹Ug pipila usab sa mga pangulo sa Asia, nga mga abyan niya, nagpasugo kaniya ug naghangyo nga dili siya mosulod sa teatro.

³²Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was in confusion; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

³²Busa ang uban nanagsinggit ug usa ka butang, ug ang uban sa lain; kay ang katilingban nangalibug, ug ang kadaghanan kanila wala manghibalo sa hinungdan sa ilang pagtigum.

³³And they brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made a defense unto the people.

³³Ug gikuha nila sa taliwala sa panon sa katawohan si Alejandro, nga ginatulod sa mga Judio. Ug si Alejandro, sa misinyas sa iyang kamot, buot unta motubag sa katawohan.

³⁴But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

³⁴Apan sa hingsayran nila nga siya Judio, ang tanan nanagsinggit sa usa ka tingog sulod sa may duha ka takna: Daku si Diana sa mga taga-Efeso.

³⁵And when the townclerk had quieted the multitude, he saith, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there who knoweth not that the city of the Ephesians is temple-keeper of the great Diana, and of the [image] which fell down from Jupiter?

³⁵Unya sa gipahilum na ang mga tawo sa kalihim sa lungsod miingon siya: Kamong mga tawo sa Efeso, kinsa bang tawohana nga, sa pagkamatuod, wala manghibalo, nga ang ciudad sa mga taga-Efeso maoy bantay sa templo sa dakung diana, ug sa larawan nga nahulog gikan kang jupiter?

³⁶Seeing then that these things cannot be gainsaid, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rash.

³⁶Nan, kay dili man malalis kining mga butanga, kinahanglan nga mohilum kamo, ug dili kamo magbuhat sa hinanali sa bisan unsa.

³⁷For ye have brought [hither] these men, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of our goddess.

³⁷Kay gidala ninyo dinhi kining mga tawohana, nga dili mga tulisan sa mga templo, ug dili mapasipad-anon sa atong dios nga babaye.

³⁸If therefore Demetrius, and the craftsmen that are with him, have a matter against any man, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls: let them accuse one another.

³⁸Busa, kong si Demetrio ug ang iyang mga kauban nga mga magsasalsal adunay ikasumbong batok kang bisan kinsang tawo, binuksan ang mga hukmanan, ug adunay mga gobernador, pasagdi nga magsinumbongay ang usa ug usa.

³⁹But if ye seek anything about other matters, it shall be settled in the regular assembly.

³⁹Apan kong nagapangita kamo bisan unsa mahitungod sa laing mga butang pagahusayon kana sa nabatasan nga tigum sa katilingban.

⁴⁰For indeed we are in danger to be accused concerning this day's riot, there being no cause [for it]: and as touching it we shall not be able to give account of this concourse.

⁴⁰Kay sa pagkatinuod may peligro nga igasumbong kita mahatungod sa kagubot niining adlawa sanglit walay bisan unsa nga hinungdan bahin niini, ug mahatungod niini dili kita makahatag ug kasayuran niining tiguma.

⁴¹And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.

⁴¹Ug sa nakapamulong siya niini, iyang gipapauli ang katilingban.
