¹And Paul, looking stedfastly on the council, said, Brethren, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day.

¹Ug si Pablo, sa mitutok sa Sanhedrin, miingon: Mga igsoon, nagkinabuhi ako sa tibook nga maayong kaisipan sa atubangan sa Dios hangtud niining adlawa.

²And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

²Ug ang labawng sacerdote nga si Ananias nagsugo niadtong nanagtindog sa tupad niya nga sagpaon ang iyang baba.

³Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: and sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

³Unya nag-ingon si Pablo kaniya: Ang Dios magahampak kanimo, bongbong nga gipaputi; ug nagalingkod ikaw sa paghukom kanako uyon sa Kasugoan, ug nagsugo ka sa pagpasagpa kanako; supak sa Kasugoan?

⁴And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?

⁴Ug ang mga nanagtindog sa tupad miingon: Gipasipad-an mo ba ang labaw nga sacerdote sa Dios?

⁵And Paul said, I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people.

⁵Ug si Pablo miingon: Wala ako mahibalo, mga igsoon, nga siya labawng sacerdote; kay nahasulat: Dili ka magsulti ug dautan batok sa pangulo sa imong katawohan.

⁶But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees: touching the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

⁶Ug sa hingbaloan ni Pablo, nga ang usa ka bahin kanila mga Saduceo, ug ang usa mga Fariseo, misinggit siya sa Sanhedrin: Mga igsoon, Fariseo ako, anak sa mga Fariseo; mahatungod sa paglaum ug sa pagkabanhaw sa mga minatay pagahukman ako karon.

⁷And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.

⁷Ug sa nakapamulong siya niini, miabut ang usa ka paglalisay sa mga Fariseo ug mga Saduceo; ug ang pundok sa katawohan nabahin.

⁸For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

⁸Kay ang mga Saduceo nagaingon nga walay pagkabanhaw, bisan manolonda, bisan espiritu; apan ang mga Fariseo nagasugid sa duruha.

⁹And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?

⁹Ug miabut ang usa ka dakung sininggitay; ug ang mga escriba sa pundok sa mga Fariseo mingtindog, ug nakigbisog, nga nagaingon: Kami walay hingkit-an nga dautan niining tawohana; ug unsa man kong usa ka espiritu kun, usa ba ka manolonda misulti kaniya, dili kita magsukol sa Dios.

¹⁰And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the castle.

¹⁰Ug sa miabut ang usa ka daku nga paglalisay, ang pangulong capitan, nga nahadlok nga si Pablo pagakuniskunison nila, nagpakanaug sa mga sundalo, ug iyang gipakuha siya sa lugos gikan sa taliwala nila, ug gipadala siya ngadto sa kuta.

¹¹And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer: for as thou hast testified concerning me at Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

¹¹Ug sa gabii nga misunod ang Ginoo mitindog tupad kaniya, ug miingon: Magmalipayon ka, kay ingon nga nagpamatuod ka mahatungod kanako sa Jerusalem, ingon usab kinahanglan nga magpamatuod ka sa Roma.

¹²And when it was day, the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

¹²Ug sa pagkabuntag, nanagtigum ang mga Judio, ug nanagsinaaray nga may panumpa, nga nagaingon, nga dili na sila mokaon bisan moinum hangtud nga mapatay nila si Pablo.

¹³And they were more than forty that made this conspiracy.

¹³Ug kapin sa kap-atan sila nga nanagsabut niini;

¹⁴And they came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.

¹⁴Ug nangadto sila sa mga pangulong sacerdote ug sa mga anciano ug nanag-ingon: Nanagsinaaray kami sa dakung panumpa, nga dili kami motilaw bisan unsa hangtud nga mapatay namo si Pablo.

¹⁵Now therefore do ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you, as though ye would judge of his case more exactly: and we, before he comes near, are ready to slay him.

¹⁵Busa karon, kamo uban ang Sanhedrin, magpahayag kamo sa atubangan sa pangulong capitan, nga iyang ipadala si Pablo nganha kaninyo, ingon nga buot kamo magsusi sa sibo pa gayud sa mga butang mahatungod kaniya; ug kami sa dili pa siya makaduol, andam sa pagpatay kaniya.

¹⁶But Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the castle and told Paul.

¹⁶Apan ang anak nga lalake sa igsoong babaye ni Pablo nakadungog mahatungod sa ilang pag-atang, ug siya miadto ug misulod sa kuta ug misugilon kang Pablo.

¹⁷And Paul called unto him one of the centurions, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain; for he hath something to tell him.

¹⁷Ug gitawag ni Pablo ngadto kaniya ang usa sa mga centurion ug miingon: Dad-a kining batan-on ngadto sa pangulong capitan, kay siya may igasugilon kaniya.

¹⁸So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and saith, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and asked me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say to thee.

¹⁸Busa iyang gikuha siya, ug gidala ngadto sa pangulong capitan, ug miingon: Gipatawag ako sa binilanggo nga si Pablo, ug gipangayo niya kanako, nga dad-on dinhi kanimo kining batan-on, kay siya adunay igasugilon kanimo.

¹⁹And the chief captain took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, What is it that thou hast to tell me?

¹⁹Ug gikuptan siya sa kamot sa pangulong capitan, ug sa hilit gipangutana siya: Unsa bay igasugilon mo kanako?

²⁰And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee to bring down Paul tomorrow unto the council, as though thou wouldest inquire somewhat more exactly concerning him.

²⁰Ug miingon siya: Ang mga Judio nanaghiusa sa pagpangayo kanimo nga ugma ipadala mo si Pablo sa atubangan sa Sanhedrin, ingon nga daw ikaw adunay ipangutana sa sibo gayud mahatungod kaniya.

²¹Do not thou therefore yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eat nor to drink till they have slain him: and now are they ready, looking for the promise from thee.

²¹Busa, dili ka magsugot kanila; kay kapin sa kap-atan ka tawo ang nag-atang kaniya, nga nanagsaad nga may panumpa, nga dili na sila mokaon, bisan moinum hangtud nga ilang mapatay siya; ug karon andam na sila, nga nagapaabut sa saad gikan kanimo.

²²So the chief captain let the young man go, charging him, Tell no man that thou hast signified these things to me.

²²Busa gipapauli sa pangulong capitan ang batan-on, nga nagtugon kaniya: Dili ka magsugilon bisan kang kinsa nga gipahayagan mo ako niining mga butanga.

²³And he called unto him two of the centurions, and said, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night:

²³Ug iyang gitawag ngadto kaniya ang duha ka centurion, ug nag-ingon: Andamon ninyo sa ikatolo ka takna sa gabii ang duha ka gatus ka mga sundalo, aron mangadto sila hangtud sa Cesarea, ug kapitoan ka sundalo nga managkabayo, ug duha ka gatus ka sundalo nga may mga bangkaw.

²⁴and [he bade them] provide beasts, that they might set Paul thereon, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

²⁴Ug iyang gitugon sila sapag-andam ug mga mananap, aron pakabay-an kang Pablo, ug aron dad-on siya nga walay kabilinggan kang Felix nga gobernador.

²⁵And he wrote a letter after this form:

²⁵Ug nagsulat siya ug usa ka sulat, nga ingon niini:

²⁶Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix, greeting.

²⁶Si Claudio Lysias alang sa halangdon gayud nga gobernador nga si Felix: Mga yukbo.

²⁷This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be slain of them, when I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.

²⁷Kining tawohana gidakup sa mga Judio, ug diriyut na nila pagpatya, sa paghiabut ko uban sa mga sundalo, ug akong giluwas siya, sa hingsayran ko nga siya Romanhon.

²⁸And desiring to know the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him down unto their council:

²⁸Ug sa akong pagtinguha nga masayud sa gipasikaran sa ilang sumbong batok kaniya, ako siyang gipaatubang sa ilang Sanhedrin;

²⁹whom I found to be accused about questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

²⁹Nga nakita ko nga gisumbong nila tungod sa mga gikalantugian nga bahin sa ilang Kasugoan, apan walay sumbong kaniya nga takus sa kamatayon, bisan pa sa bilanggoan.

³⁰And when it was shown to me that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to thee forthwith, charging his accusers also to speak against him before thee.

³⁰Ug sa gipakita kanako nga nanagsabut ang mga Judio batok sa tawo, gilayon gipahatud ko siya kanimo nga gisugo ko usab ang mga magsusumbong, nga isulti nila sa imong atubangan ang batok kaniya. Magamaayo ka unta.

³¹So the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.

³¹Busa, ang mga sundalo, ingon sa gisugo kanila, gikuha nila si Pablo, ug gidala sulod sa kagabhion ngadto sa Antipatris.

³²But on the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:

³²Apan sa adlaw nga misunod, gipasagdan nila nga ang mga nanagkabayo nga mga sundalo maoy mikuyog kaniya, ug namalik sila sa kuta;

³³and they, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

³³Ug sila, sa nakaabut sa Cesarea ug sa nahatag nila ang sulat sa gobernador, gitugyan usab nila si Pablo kaniya.

³⁴And when he had read it, he asked of what province he was; and when he understood that he was of Cilicia,

³⁴Ug sa nabasa niya kini, nangutana kong tagadiin siya. Ug sa hingsayran nga taga-Cilicia siya,

³⁵I will hear thee fully, said he, when thine accusers also are come: and he commanded him to be kept in Herod's palace.

³⁵Miingon siya: Pagapatalinghugan ko ikaw sa hingpit kong moabut na ang imong mga magsusumbong. Ug nagsugo nga pagabantayan siya sa palacio ni Herodes.
