¹Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

²And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple garment;

²Ug ang mga sundalo nagsalapid ug usa ka purongpurong nga tunokon, ug ilang gibutang kini sa iyang ulo, ug ilang gisul-oban siya ug usa ka bisti nga mapula.

³and they came unto him, and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck him with their hands.

³Ug sila miduol kaniya ug miingon: Maghimaya, hari sa mga Judio! Ug ilang gisagpa siya sa ilang mga kamot.

⁴And Pilate went out again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find no crime in him.

⁴Ug si Pilato migula pag-usab ug miingon kanila: Ania karon, gidala ko siya dinhi kaninyo, aron kamo mahibalo nga wala akoy hingkaplagan nga sala kaniya.

⁵Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. And [Pilate] saith unto them, Behold, the man!

⁵Unya migula si Jesus nga sinul-oban sa purongpurong nga tunokon, ug sa bisti nga mapula. Ug si Pilato miingon kanila: Tan-awa ang tawo!

⁶When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify [him], crucify [him]! Pilate saith unto them, Take him yourselves, and crucify him: for I find no crime in him.

⁶Busa sa nakita siya sa mga pangulong sacerdote ug sa mga sulogoon, sila misinggit nga nagaingon: Ilansang siya sa cruz, ilansang siya sa cruz! Si Pilato miingon kanila: Kuhaa ninyo siya, ug ilansang ninyo sa cruz, kay ako walay nakita kaniya nga kasal-anan.

⁷The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

⁷Ang mga Judio mitubag kaniya: Kami adunay balaod, ug pinasikad sa among Kasugoan kinahanglan siya mamatay, tungod kay nagpakaanak siya sa Dios.

⁸When Pilate therefore heard this saying, he was the more afraid;

⁸Busa sa pagkadungog ni Pilato niining sultiha, milabi siya sa pagkahadlok.

⁹and he entered into the Praetorium again, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

⁹Ug misuod siya pag-usab sa Pretorio, ug miingon kang Jesus: Diin ka gikan? Apan si Jesus wala motubag kaniya.

¹⁰Pilate therefore saith unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have power to release thee, and have power to crucify thee?

¹⁰Busa si Pilato miingon kaniya: Dili ka mosulti kanako? Wala ka mahibalo nga ako may gahum sa pagbuhi kanimo, ug may gahum sa paglansang kanimo?

¹¹Jesus answered him, Thou wouldest have no power against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath greater sin.

¹¹Si Jesus mitubag kaniya: Ikaw wala untay gahum batok kanako, gawas kong kini gihatag kanimo gikan sa itaas: tungod niini, kadtong nagtugyan kanako dinhi kanimo mao ang may labing daku nga sala.

¹²Upon this Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou release this man, thou art not Caesar's friend: every one that maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

¹²Tungod niini si Pilato nagtinguha sa pagbuhi kaniya; apan ang mga Judio nanagsinggit nga nagaingon: Kong imong pagabuhian kining tawohana, ikaw dili higala ni Cesar; ang tanan nga nagapakahari nagabatok kang Cesar.

¹³When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment-seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.

¹³Sa pagkadungog ni Pilato niining mga pulonga, gipagula niya si Jesus, ug milingkod siya sa lingkoranan sa hukmanan sa usa ka dapit nga ginganlan Ang Litostroto, apan sa pulong Hebreohanon, Gabbata.

¹⁴Now it was the Preparation of the passover: it was about the sixth hour. And he saith unto the Jews, Behold, your King!

¹⁴Karon, mao kadto ang Pangandam sa pasko, sa may ikaunom ang takna. Ug siya miingon sa mga Judio Tan-awa ang inyong Hari!

¹⁵They therefore cried out, Away with [him], away with [him], crucify him! Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

¹⁵Apan sila nanagsinggit: Ipahilayo siya, ipahilayo siya, ilansang siya sa cruz! Si Pilato miingon kanila: Ilansang ko ba sa cruz ang inyong Hari? Ang mga pangulong sacerdote mitubag: Kami walay hari, gawas kang Cesar.

¹⁶Then therefore he delivered him unto them to be crucified.

¹⁶Unya iyang gitugyan siya kanila aron ilansang sa cruz. Ug ilang gikuha si Jesus, ug gidala siya gikan didto.

¹⁷They took Jesus therefore: and he went out, bearing the cross for himself, unto the place called The place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha:

¹⁷Busa ilang gikuha si Jesus: ug migula siya nga nagadala sa cruz nga alang kaniya, ngadto sa dapit nga ginganlan, Ang dapit sa bagolbagol, nga sa Hebreohanon ginganlan Golgota;

¹⁸where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

¹⁸Diin ilang gilansang siya sa cruz, ug diin uban kaniya may duha pa, usa sa tagsatagsa ka kiliran, ug si Jesus sa taliwala.

¹⁹And Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. And there was written, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

¹⁹Ug si Pilato misulat, usab ug usa ka ulohang sulat, ug iyang gibutang sa cruz. Ug didto nahasulat: SI JESUS NGA NAZARETNON, ANG HARI SA MGA JUDIO.

²⁰This title therefore read many of the Jews, for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city; and it was written in Hebrew, [and] in Latin, [and] in Greek.

²⁰Ug daghan sa mga Judio ang nakabasa niining ulohang sulat, kay ang dapit diin si Jesus gilansang sa cruz haduol sa ciudad; ug kadto nahasulat sa pinulongan nga Hebreohanon, ug sa Latin, ug sa Greciahanon.

²¹The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

²¹Busa ang mga pangulong sacerdote sa mga Judio nanag-ingon kang Pilato: Dili mo isulat: Ang Hari sa mga Judio, kondili nga siya nag-ingon: Ako ang Hari sa mga Judio.

²²Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

²²Si Pilato mitubag: Ang akong nahasulat, nahasulat ko.

²³The soldiers therefore, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

²³Busa ang mga sundalo, sa tapus nila ilansang si Jesus sa cruz, nanagkuha sa iyang mga bisti ug naghimo ug upat ka bahin, usa ka bahin, sa tagsa ka sundalo; ug ingon man usab ang sinina; ang sinina walay tinahian, hinabol gikan sa ibabaw ngadto sa ubos.

²⁴They said therefore one to another, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my garments among them, And upon my vesture did they cast lots.

²⁴Sila nanag-ingon sa usa ug usa: Dili ta paggision kini, kondili magarifa kita kong kinsa ang makatag-iya, aron matuman ang Kasulatan nga nag-ingon: Ilang gibahinbahin ang akong mga bisti alang kanila, ug sa akong mga panapton nanagrifa sila.

²⁵These things therefore the soldiers did. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the [wife] of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

²⁵Busa mao kining mga butanga ang gibuhat sa mga sundalo. Apan nanagtindog sa luyo sa cruz ni Jesus ang iyang inahan, ug ang igsoong babaye sa iyang inahan, si Maria nga asawa ni Cleofas, ug si Maria Magdalena.

²⁶When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

²⁶Busa sa nakita ni Jesus ang iyang inahan ug ang tinon-an nga iyang gihigugma nga nagatindog sa duol, miingon siya sa iyang inahan: Babaye, tan-awa ang imong anak.

²⁷Then saith he to the disciple, Behold, thy mother! And from that hour the disciple took her unto his own [home].

²⁷Unya miingon siya sa tinon-an: Tan-awa ang imong inahan. Ug sukad niadtong taknaa gidawat siya sa tinon-an ngadto sa iyang kaugalingong balay.

²⁸After this Jesus, knowing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst.

²⁸Sa tapus niini, sa hingbaloan ni Jesus nga ang tanan hingpit na, aron matuman ang Kasulatan, miingon: Giuhaw ako.

²⁹There was set there a vessel full of vinegar: so they put a sponge full of the vinegar upon hyssop, and brought it to his mouth.

²⁹May nahimutang didto nga usa ka sudlanan nga napuno sa suka, busa ilang gibutang ang usa ka esponja nga natumog sa suka sa usa ka hisopo, ug gitunol nila sa iyang baba.

³⁰When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

³⁰Busa sa nadawat ni Jesus ang suka; miingon siya: Hingpit na; ug giduko niya ang iyang ulo, ug gitugyan ang iyang espiritu.

³¹The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross upon the sabbath (for the day of that sabbath was a high [day]), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.

³¹Busa ang mga Judio, tungod kay kadto adlaw sa pangandam, nga ang mga lawas dili magapabilin sa cruz sa adlaw nga igpapahulay (kay kadtong adlawa nga igpapahulay dakung adlaw) nagahangyo kang Pilato nga dugmokon ang ilang mga paa, ug nga hugoson nila.

³²The soldiers therefore came, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with him:

³²Busa ang mga sundalo nangabut, ug ilang gidugmok ang mga paa sa nahauna, ug sa usa nga gilansang sa cruz uban kaniya.

³³but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

³³Apan sa pag-abut nila kang Jesus ug sa hingkit-an nila nga patay na, wala nila pagdugmoka ang iyang mga paa.

³⁴howbeit one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water.

³⁴Apan usa sa mga sundalo midughang sa iyang kilid sa usa ka bangkaw, ug gilayon miagay ang dugo ug tubig.

³⁵And he that hath seen hath borne witness, and his witness is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye also may believe.

³⁵Ug ang nakakita niini mihatag ug pagpamatuod, ug tinuod ang iyang pagpamatuod, ug siya nasayud nga matuod ang iyang ginapamulong, aron kamo usab managtoo.

³⁶For these things came to pass, that the scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

³⁶Kay kining mga butanga nagpanghitabo aron matuman ang Kasulatan: Walay bukog niya nga madugmok.

³⁷And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

³⁷Ug usab ang laing bahin sa Kasulatan nag-ingon: Pagatan-awon nila ang ilang gidughang.

³⁸And after these things Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave [him] leave. He came therefore, and took away his body.

³⁸Ug sa human niining mga butanga, si Jose nga taga-Arimatea, nga tinon-an ni Jesus, apan sa tago tungod sa kahadlok sa mga Judio, nagpakilooy kang Pilato nga iya untang kuhaon ang lawas ni Jesus, ug gitugotan siya ni pilato. Busa miadto siya ug gikuha niya ang lawas ni Jesus.

³⁹And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.

³⁹Ug didto miabut usab si Nicodemo, siya nga sa unang pagpakigkita kang Jesus, miadto kaniya sa gabii, nga nagadala ug duol sa usa ka gatus ka libra nga sinakot nga mirra ug aloe.

⁴⁰So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

⁴⁰Busa ilang gikuha ang lawas ni Jesus, ug giputos kini nila sa panapton nga lino uban ang mga pahumot, sumala sa batasan sa mga Judio mahitungod sa paglubong.

⁴¹Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb wherein was never man yet laid.

⁴¹Karon, didto sa dapit diin siya ilansang sa cruz, may usa ka tanaman; ug sa tanaman may usa ka bag-ong lubnganan nga wala pay bisan kinsa nga gibutang.

⁴²There then because of the Jews' Preparation (for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.

⁴²Busa didto tungod sa Pangandam sa mga Judio (kay haduol man ang lubnganan) ilang gipahaluna si Jesus.
