¹Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God: and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

¹ Pob un sy'n credu mai Iesu yw'r Crist, y mae wedi ei eni o Dduw; ac y mae pawb sy'n caru tad yn caru ei blentyn hefyd.

²Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.

² Dyma sut yr ydym yn gwybod ein bod yn caru plant Duw: pan fyddwn yn caru Duw ac yn cadw ei orchmynion.

³For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

³ Oherwydd dyma yw caru Duw: bod inni gadw ei orchmynion. Ac nid yw ei orchmynion ef yn feichus,

⁴For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, [even] our faith.

⁴ am fod pawb sydd wedi eu geni o Dduw yn gorchfygu'r byd. Hon yw'r oruchafiaeth a orchfygodd y byd: ein ffydd ni.

⁵And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁵ Pwy yw gorchfygwr y byd ond y sawl sy'n credu mai Iesu yw Mab Duw?

⁶This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood.

⁶ Dyma'r un a ddaeth drwy ddu373?r a gwaed, Iesu Grist; nid trwy ddu373?r yn unig, ond trwy'r du373?r a thrwy'r gwaed. Yr Ysbryd yw'r tyst, am mai'r Ysbryd yw'r gwirionedd.

⁷And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

⁷ Oherwydd y mae tri sy'n tystiolaethu,

⁸For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.

⁸ yr Ysbryd, y du373?r, a'r gwaed, ac y mae'r tri yn gyt�

⁹If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for the witness of God is this, that he hath borne witness concerning his Son.

⁹ Os ydym yn derbyn tystiolaeth pobl feidrol, y mae tystiolaeth Duw yn fwy. A hon yw tystiolaeth Duw: ei fod wedi tystio am ei Fab.

¹⁰He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son.

¹⁰ Y mae gan y sawl sy'n credu ym Mab Duw y dystiolaeth ynddo'i hun. Y mae'r sawl nad yw'n credu Duw yn ei wneud ef yn gelwyddog, am nad yw wedi credu'r dystiolaeth y mae Duw wedi ei rhoi.

¹¹And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

¹¹ A hon yw'r dystiolaeth: bod Duw wedi rhoi inni fywyd tragwyddol. Ac y mae'r bywyd hwn yn ei Fab.

¹²He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.

¹² Y sawl y mae'r Mab ganddo, y mae'r bywyd ganddo; y sawl nad yw Mab Duw ganddo, nid yw'r bywyd ganddo.

¹³These things have I written unto you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, [even] unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God.

¹³ Yr wyf yn ysgrifennu'r pethau hyn atoch chwi, y rhai sydd yn credu yn enw Mab Duw, er mwyn ichwi wybod bod gennych fywyd tragwyddol.

¹⁴And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:

¹⁴ A hwn yw'r hyder sydd gennym ger ei fron ef: y bydd ef yn gwrando arnom os gofynnwn am rywbeth yn unol �'i ewyllys ef.

¹⁵and if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

¹⁵ Ac os ydym yn gwybod ei fod yn gwrando arnom, beth bynnag y byddwn yn gofyn amdano, yr ydym yn gwybod bod y pethau yr ydym wedi gofyn iddo amdanynt yn eiddo inni.

¹⁶If any man see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and [God] will give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request.

¹⁶ Os gw�l unrhyw un ei gydaelod yn cyflawni pechod nad yw'n bechod marwol, dylai ofyn, ac fe rydd Duw fywyd iddo � hynny yw, i'r rhai nad yw eu pechod yn farwol. Y mae pechod sy'n farwol; nid ynglu375?n � hwn yr wyf yn dweud y dylai wedd�o.

¹⁷All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

¹⁷ Y mae pob anghyfiawnder yn bechod; ond y mae hefyd bechod nad yw'n farwol.

¹⁸We know that whosoever is begotten of God sinneth not; but he that was begotten of God keepeth himself, and the evil one toucheth him not.

¹⁸ Yr ydym yn gwybod nad yw'r sawl sydd wedi ei eni o Dduw yn dal i bechu, ond y mae'r Un a anwyd o Dduw yn ei gadw, ac nid yw'r Un drwg yn ei gyffwrdd.

¹⁹We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in the evil one.

¹⁹ Yr ydym yn gwybod ein bod ni o Dduw, a bod yr holl fyd yn gorwedd yng ngafael yr Un drwg.

²⁰And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

²⁰ Yr ydym yn gwybod bod Mab Duw wedi dod, ac wedi rhoi inni ddealltwriaeth, er mwyn inni adnabod yr Un gwir; ac yr ydym ni yn yr Un gwir, yn ei Fab ef, Iesu Grist. Hwn yw'r gwir Dduw a'r bywyd tragwyddol.

²¹[My] little children, guard yourselves from idols.

²¹ Blant, ymgadwch rhag eilunod.
