¹When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

¹ "Pan oedd Israel yn fachgen fe'i cerais, ac o'r Aifft y gelwais fy mab.

²The more [the prophets] called them, the more they went from them: they sacrificed unto the Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

² Fel y galwn arnynt, aent ymaith oddi wrthyf; aberthent i Baal ac arogldarthu i eilunod.

³Yet I taught Ephraim to walk; I took them on my arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

³ "Myfi a fu'n dysgu Effraim i gerdded, a'u cymryd erbyn eu breichiau; ond ni fynnent gydnabod i mi eu hiach�u.

⁴I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love; and I was to them as they that lift up the yoke on their jaws; and I laid food before them.

⁴ Tywysais hwy � rheffynnau caredig ac � rhwymau cariad; b�m iddynt fel un yn codi'r iau, yn llacio'r ffrwyn, ac yn plygu atynt i'w porthi.

⁵They shall not return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian shall be their king, because they refused to return [to me].

⁵ "Ni ddychwelant i wlad yr Aifft, ond Asyria fydd yn frenin arnynt, am iddynt wrthod dychwelyd ataf.

⁶And the sword shall fall upon their cities, and shall consume their bars, and devour [them], because of their own counsels.

⁶ Chwyrl�a cleddyf yn erbyn eu dinasoedd, a difa byst eu pyrth a'u difetha am eu cynllwynion.

⁷And my people are bent on backsliding from me: though they call them to [him that is] on high, none at all will exalt [him].

⁷ Y mae fy mhobl yn mynnu cilio oddi wrthyf; er iddynt alw ar dduw goruchel, ni fydd yn eu dyrchafu o gwbl.

⁸How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? [how] shall I cast thee off, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassions are kindled together.

⁸ "Pa fodd y'th roddaf i fyny, Effraim, a'th roi ymaith, Israel? Pa fodd y'th wnaf fel Adma, a'th osod fel Seboim? Newidiodd fy meddwl ynof; enynnodd fy nhosturi hefyd.

⁹I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee; and I will not come in wrath.

⁹ Ni chyflawnaf angerdd fy llid, ni ddinistriaf Effraim eto; canys Duw wyf fi, ac nid meidrolyn, y Sanct yn dy ganol; ac ni ddof i ddinistrio.

¹⁰They shall walk after Jehovah, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children shall come trembling from the west.

¹⁰ "�nt ar �l yr ARGLWYDD; fe rua fel llew. Pan rua ef, daw ei blant dan grynu o'r gorllewin;

¹¹They shall come trembling as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will make them to dwell in their houses, saith Jehovah.

¹¹ d�nt dan grynu fel aderyn o'r Aifft, ac fel colomen o wlad Asyria, a gosodaf hwy eto yn eu cartrefi," medd yr ARGLWYDD.

¹²Ephraim compasseth me about with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the Holy One.

¹² Amgylchodd Effraim fi � chelwydd, a thu375? Israel � thwyll; ond y mae Jwda'n ymwneud � Duw, ac yn ffyddlon i'r Sanct.
