¹A wise son [heareth] his father's instruction; But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.

¹ Y mae mab doeth yn derbyn disgyblaeth tad, ond ni wrendy gwatwarwr ar gerydd.

²A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous [shall eat] violence.

² Trwy ffrwyth ei enau y digonir pob un � daioni, ond awchu am drais y mae twyllwyr.

³He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; [But] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

³ Y mae'r un sy'n gwylio'i eiriau yn diogelu ei fywyd, ond ei ddinistrio'i hun y mae'r un sy'n siarad gormod.

⁴The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

⁴ Y mae'r diogyn yn awchu, ac eto heb gael dim, ond y mae'r diwyd yn ffynnu.

⁵A righteous man hateth lying; But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

⁵ Y mae'r cyfiawn yn cas�u twyll, ond y mae'r drygionus yn gweithredu'n ffiaidd a gwarthus.

⁶Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

⁶ Y mae cyfiawnder yn amddiffyn ffordd y cywir, ond drygioni yn dymchwel y pechadur.

⁷There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.

⁷ Rhydd ambell un yr argraff ei fod yn gyfoethog, a heb ddim ganddo; ymddengys arall yn dlawd, ac yntau'n gyfoethog iawn.

⁸The ransom of a man's life is his riches; But the poor heareth no threatening.

⁸ Y pridwerth am fywyd pob un yw ei gyfoeth, ond ni chlyw'r tlawd fygythion.

⁹The light of the righteous rejoiceth; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

⁹ Disgleiria goleuni'r cyfiawn, ond diffydd lamp y drygionus.

¹⁰By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.

¹⁰ Y mae'r disynnwyr yn codi cynnen trwy ymffrostio, ond y mae doethineb gan y rhai sy'n derbyn cyngor.

¹¹Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished; But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.

¹¹ Derfydd cyfoeth a gafwyd yn ddiymdrech, ond o'i gasglu bob yn dipyn fe gynydda.

¹²Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

¹² Y mae'r gobaith a oedir yn clafychu'r galon, ond y dymuniad a gyflawnir yn bren bywiol.

¹³Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself; But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

¹³ Ei niweidio'i hun y mae'r un sy'n dirmygu cyngor, ond gwobrwyir yr un sy'n parchu gorchymyn.

¹⁴The law of the wise is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.

¹⁴ Y mae cyfarwyddyd y doeth yn ffynnon fywiol i arbed rhag maglau marwolaeth.

¹⁵Good understanding giveth favor; But the way of the transgressor is hard.

¹⁵ Y mae deall da yn ennill ffafr, ond garw yw ffordd y twyllwyr.

¹⁶Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth [his] folly.

¹⁶ Y mae pawb call yn gweithredu'n ddeallus, ond y mae'r ff�l yn amlygu ffolineb.

¹⁷A wicked messenger falleth into evil; But a faithful ambassador is health.

¹⁷ Y mae negesydd drwg yn achosi dinistr, ond cennad cywir yn dwyn lles.

¹⁸Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth correction; But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.

¹⁸ Tlodi a gwarth sydd i'r un sy'n anwybyddu disgyblaeth, ond anrhydeddir y sawl sy'n derbyn cerydd.

¹⁹The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.

¹⁹ Y mae dymuniad a gyflawnir yn felys ei flas, ond cas gan ffyliaid droi oddi wrth ddrwg.

²⁰Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise; But the companion of fools shall smart for it.

²⁰ Trwy rodio gyda'r doeth ceir doethineb, ond daw niwed o aros yng nghwmni ffyliaid.

²¹Evil pursueth sinners; But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.

²¹ Y mae dinistr yn dilyn pechaduriaid, ond daioni yw gwobr y cyfiawn.

²²A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children; And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

²² Gedy'r daionus etifeddiaeth i'w blant, ond rhoddir cyfoeth pechadur i'r cyfiawn.

²³Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor; But there is that is destroyed by reason of injustice.

²³ Ceir digon o fwyd ym mraenar y tlodion, ond heb gyfiawnder fe ddiflanna.

²⁴He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

²⁴ Cas�u ei fab a wna'r un sy'n arbed y wialen, ond ei garu y mae'r sawl a rydd gerydd cyson.

²⁵The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul; But the belly of the wicked shall want.

²⁵ Y mae'r cyfiawn yn bwyta hyd ddigon, ond gwag fydd bol y drygionus.
