¹But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a bondservant though he is lord of all;

¹Kaj mi sciigas vin, ke tiel longe, kiel la heredanto estas infano, li neniel malsimilas sklavon, kvankam li estas estro de cxio;

²but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed of the father.

²sed li estas sub guvernantoj kaj administrantoj, gxis la templimo difinita de la patro.

³So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world:

³Tiel ankaux ni, dum ni estis infanoj, estis en sklaveco sub la elementoj de la mondo;

⁴but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

⁴sed kiam venis la pleneco de la tempo, Dio elsendis Sian Filon, el virino naskitan, sub legxo naskitan,

⁵that he might redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

⁵por reacxeti tiujn, kiuj estas sub la legxo, por ke ni ricevu la filadopton.

⁶And because ye are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

⁶Kaj cxar vi estas filoj, Dio elsendis la Spiriton de Sia Filo en niajn korojn, kriantan, Aba, Patro!

⁷So that thou art no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

⁷Tiel ke cxiu el vi estas jam ne sklavo, sed filo; kaj se filo, ankaux heredanto per Dio.

⁸Howbeit at that time, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to them that by nature are no gods:

⁸Tamen, tiam ne konante Dion, vi estis en sklaveco al tiuj, kiuj nature ne estas dioj;

⁹but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?

⁹sed jam nun konante Dion, aux pli gxuste, de Dio konate, kial vi returnigxas al la malfortaj kaj mizeraj elementoj, al kiuj vi deziras denove sklavigxi?

¹⁰Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years.

¹⁰Vi observas tagojn kaj monatojn kaj tempojn kaj jarojn.

¹¹I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain.

¹¹Mi timas pri vi, ke eble mi vane laboris cxe vi.

¹²I beseech you, brethren, become as I [am], for I also [am become] as ye [are]. Ye did me no wrong:

¹²Mi petegas vin, fratoj, estu kiel mi, cxar mi ankaux estas kiel vi. Vi neniel al mi malbonfaris;

¹³but ye know that because of an infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you the first time:

¹³sed vi scias, ke pro malforteco de la karno mi la unuan fojon predikis al vi la evangelion;

¹⁴and that which was a temptation to you in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but ye received me as an angel of God, [even] as Christ Jesus.

¹⁴kaj vian elprovon en mia karno vi ne malestimis nek abomenis, sed kvazaux angxelon de Dio vi akceptis min, kvazaux Kriston Jesuon.

¹⁵Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.

¹⁵Kie do estas via singratulado? mi atestas al vi, ke se estus eble, vi estus elsxirintaj viajn okulojn kaj donintaj ilin al mi.

¹⁶So then am I become your enemy, by telling you the truth?

¹⁶CXu mi do per verdirado farigxis al vi malamiko?

¹⁷They zealously seek you in no good way; nay, they desire to shut you out, that ye may seek them.

¹⁷Ili fervore sercxas vin, ne bone; ili ecx volas elsxlosi vin, por ke vi sercxu ilin.

¹⁸But it is good to be zealously sought in a good matter at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

¹⁸Sed estas bone esti fervore sercxata cxiam en bona afero, kaj ne nur tiam, kiam mi estas cxe vi.

¹⁹My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you--

¹⁹Miaj infanetoj, pro kiuj mi denove suferas naskodoloron, gxis Kristo formigxos en vi,

²⁰but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone; for I am perplexed about you.

²⁰mi tute deziris esti cxe vi nun, kaj sxangxi mian vocxon; cxar vere mi dubas pri vi.

²¹Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

²¹Diru al mi, vi, kiuj volas esti sub la legxo, cxu vi ne auxskultas la legxon?

²²For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the freewoman.

²²CXar estas skribite, ke Abraham havis du filojn, unu el la sklavino kaj unu el la liberulino.

²³Howbeit the [son] by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the [son] by the freewoman [is born] through promise.

²³Tamen tiu el la sklavino naskigxis laux la karno, sed cxi tiu el la liberulino naskigxis per promeso.

²⁴Which things contain an allegory: for these [women] are two covenants; one from mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar.

²⁴CXi tio enhavas alegorion; cxar la du virinoj estas du interligoj, unu el la monto Sinaj, por sklaveco naskante, kiu estas Hagar.

²⁵Now this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia and answereth to the Jerusalem that now is: for she is in bondage with her children.

²⁵CXar tiu Hagar estas la monto Sinaj en Arabujo, kaj prezentas la nunan Jerusalemon, cxar sxi estas sklavigita kune kun siaj infanoj.

²⁶But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother.

²⁶Sed la supera Jerusalem estas libera, kiu estas patrino nia.

²⁷For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; Break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: For more are the children of the desolate than of her that hath the husband.

²⁷Estas ja skribite: GXoju, ho senfruktulino, kiu ne naskis, Sonigu kanton kaj gxojkriu, ho vi, kiu ne suferas naskodoloron; CXar la forlasitino havos pli da infanoj, ol la havanta edzon.

²⁸Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.

²⁸Sed ni, fratoj, estas filoj de promeso tiel same, kiel Isaak.

²⁹But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, so also it is now.

²⁹Sed kiel tiam la laux karno naskita persekutis la lauxspiritulon, tiel estas ankaux nuntempe.

³⁰Howbeit what saith the scripture? Cast out the handmaid and her son: for the son of the handmaid shall not inherit with the son of the freewoman.

³⁰Sed kion diras la Skribo? Forpelu la sklavinon kaj sxian filon; cxar la filo de la sklavino ne heredos kun la filo de la liberulino.

³¹Wherefore, brethren, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the freewoman.

³¹Tial, fratoj, ni estas filoj ne de sklavino, sed de la liberulino.
